Absolution wonderful experience. This Assembly Hall has been expertly restored. It's wonderful to see the ancient motifs without pagan symbols. Excellent place to study and learn about Jehovah.

1st time here and its honestly one of the most beautiful assemble halls I seen in my time. Straight from a theater 🎭 known around the area, then converted and used as a JW Assembly hall. The architecture and historical carvings on the wall are so detailed. The talks given is powerful and the gatherings is very delightful. I enjoyed my time here with my girlfriend and would be excited for next years to come again.

Stanley Theatre: Where Architecture and Unity Converge ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Walking through the doors of Stanley Theatre is like stepping into a world where art and history intertwine. The grandeur of its architecture immediately commands your attention, leaving you in awe of the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail. The theatre's façade is a sight to behold, with its ornate columns, intricate carvings, and majestic archways. The blend of neoclassical and Renaissance architectural styles creates a harmonious symphony of lines and curves. The grand entrance beckons you inside, promising an experience that transcends time. As you step into the theatre's interior, you're greeted by a breathtaking sight. The soaring ceilings adorned with intricate plasterwork draw your gaze upward, while the magnificent chandeliers illuminate the space with a warm and inviting glow. The plush seating, arranged in a carefully designed pattern, ensures that every seat offers a prime view of the stage. But what truly sets Stanley Theatre apart is the sense of unity that fills the air. Attending a convention at this majestic venue, surrounded by people from different places and backgrounds, creates a palpable feeling of togetherness. Despite our differences, we come together under one roof, united by a common purpose and shared passion. The convention hall buzzes with excitement and camaraderie. Strangers become friends, exchanging stories and ideas, forging connections that transcend geographic boundaries. The energy in the air is infectious, fueled by the collective enthusiasm of all those present. Throughout the convention, the theatre's acoustics prove to be impeccable, allowing every word, every note, and every applause to resonate with clarity and power. Whether it's a keynote speaker captivating the audience or a musical performance leaving everyone spellbound, Stanley Theatre provides the perfect backdrop for moments of inspiration and connection. Stepping outside the theatre, you're greeted by the bustling streets of New Jersey, a reminder that the unity experienced within the theatre's walls extends beyond its confines. The memories created at Stanley Theatre, the friendships forged, and the inspiration gained serve as a reminder of the power of coming together, transcending borders and barriers. In conclusion, Stanley Theatre is not just a remarkable architectural masterpiece, but a place that brings people together in a celebration of shared passions and aspirations. It's an experience that leaves a lasting impression, reminding us of the beauty of unity and the indelible mark that art and culture can make on our lives.

After 3 years of being in a Pandemic our loving Father gave us the ok to return with our regular scheduled meetings of Circuit Assembly & 3day Conventions..So happy to see our brothers give well prepared bible discussions to assist us in these last days & give hope to many others without it. The theater was thoroughly cleaned by volunteered hands with much before & afterwards. Had 11 baptismal candidates today......Jehovah's chariot is moving and so are we... Yelp
Poor customer service no one answers phone and they assume everyone knows or can go to their website. So they have pre recorded messages! You cannot even ask about touring hours no info about that. No human being but they'll come to your door and expect human interaction SMH

Yelp
The legendary Stanley Theater. "One of the great movie palaces in the country maybe the world" - Historian Richard Polton. It was 2nd largest Atmospheric style theater ever built in U.S.A. Designed by architect Fred W. Wentworth. Also was an elegant and popular place in the 1960's . Hosting concerts and live acts such as the Three Stooges, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett to Jimmy Durant. Yes! The Three Stooges!! Lol But in the 1970's movie attendance suffered ( as did many other theaters due to the boom of the suburbs and television ) and the theater fell into deep, deep despair. The once beautiful metal throughout the building was painted dark blue, water damage, peeling plaster, the theater became dark and dingy, etc. It could hold on no longer and closed in 1978. Stanley Theater future was in question until purchased by the Jehovahs Witnesses in 1983. At that time some basement section of the stage was under 2 feet of water. But everything was fixed and restored by thousands of Jw volunteers over a nine month span. It's now open to the public for free exploration every weekend. They also host convention's in the summer, a good place to go to learn facts in Bible taught in simple format. No collection plates passed around. Convention dates for 2016 : June 10-12 ; July 22-25; Sept 9-11 Discounted parking in Parking garage across street. So even though Stanley Theater primarily functions as a place of worship where people go to study the Bible, the Theater is still cherished by the New Jersey community, where a small part of New Jersey history is still preserved.

Yelp
Bravo to the Jehovah's witnesses for respecting and appreciating the great architect of the Stanley Theater. Also, for keeping the name of the theater in-tact. What a beautiful treasure to restore. The time, funds, and, labor, that went into the work is truly appreciated. As, we all now can enjoy it! Renea. C

Yelp
Beautiful and inviting. My family and I came from Orange County CA and we toured this facility. I remember coming here when a young girl, for movies and skating before the witnesses purchased and renovated this dilapidated theater. The summer convention program of talks and videos are super informative and information was really based on the Bible.

Yelp
My favorite lecture there was: "Guarding Against Independent Thinking!" So glad I let the governing body do my thinking for me :-) Also they now accept credit cards for donations! Yay!!

Yelp
Um, neither brainwashed nor tithed (you give what you like, only if you like) and I party like a rockstar (well admittedly more Chris Martin then Chris Cornell) but anyhoo... The Stanley is beautiful. There are free tours given during the day showing the artwork and history of the theater including the very hard work that went into the restoration of it. My favorite part was the show on the ceiling which changes from day to night.

Yelp
When attending this very beautiful location, a family member & i both were extremely frightened by one member who admitted his special Affinity for my underage child, & his love of young girls. He blocked our entry to our seats at different intervals. When speaking up I am threatened to remain silent or else. He has stalked our home, even poisoned us at a meal at his home prior to this event. When writing Headquarters, they ignore our many letters for help. When talking to elders, they respond by Silence. We receive constant stalkings at different times & phone calls, online messaging of death threats that we will die by Jehovah God because we are coming forward & speaking up against this Bullying & Intimidation. The top floor shakes & brothers down below have special digital measurement devices to measure before it collapses on others eventually. I am amazed how many times we are asked to make donations now by credit & debit cards.

Yelp
I had the privledge as a youth to visit the Stanley Theatre in the summers and the winters of the late 1980s, when attending Jehovah's Witness conventions. I also have family members who participated in the restoration. Viewing the pictures of the historic beauty of the Stanley Theatre brings back pleasant memories of my childhood growing up as a Jehovah's Witness. Claiming the theatre as "our own" instilled in us a lot of pride and a sense of distinction. Even though The Stanley is located in an impoverished, dilapidated and crime infested area, its still shines as symbol of beauty and historic pride for Jersey City, New Jersey...and for me as well.
