Yelp
The most charming wine spot. Topped off my recent Rome trip by landing on this gem as a pre-dinner treat after a long day of sightseeing. Astemio came recommended by my hotel, and was all that I hoped for as I was interested in stopping by an enoteca at some point in my trip.
That evening, it was staffed with mainly women which I loved. Really warm service. I came in as a solo walk-in and they quickly accommodated me. I stayed for 2 glasses of delicious white wine; they guided me through the choices, each spot-on with what I was seeking.
Opting for what I thought would be a light snack, I went with my server's recommendation of the focaccia. Oh my...it came out large enough to serve 2-3 people. Still...I found myself consuming almost half of it because it was so incredibly good. Unlike any focaccia I've had in the States: this was fresh, warm, delectable with the perfect *crunch*...draped in thinly sliced, cured ham. SO delicious.
As I waited for my food and sipped on my wine, I took in the beautiful ambiance, the wall of wine and the area where a gentleman was slicing fresh meats and cheeses. This was certainly a vibe, one that was *chef's kiss* on my last night in Rome.
