We happened to be there on a night featuring traditional Cretan music with a Cretan lyra, an instrument that always brings a distinctive emotional tone. The musicians played with passion, and the vibe spread throughout the café. The place was filled with young people who weren’t just listening—they were dancing, laughing, and creating an atmosphere that felt alive and genuine. It was the sort of spontaneous, joyful scene that makes you feel part of something local and real, even if you’re just passing through. Astikon Café succeeds in combining good tastes, warm hospitality, and authentic cultural moments. Whether you’re visiting Kythera for a short trip or staying longer, it’s a spot that’s absolutely worth experiencing, especially if you appreciate places with soul and character.

Very nice place and welcoming. The design inside is beautiful. The coffee is not really cheap but it’s quite tasty. It has a garden at the back, I assume only for the summer. We sat outside across the street and enjoyed the sun. Must try if you are in the area!

Only place in Kythira that you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner! Nice decor and lovely friendly staff. The owner is amazing. Lovely atmosphere so we stayed from lunchtime to 10pm! Great place for friends and family. Try their signature cocktail Belo Orzante.. its yummy.

Lovely place, in a lovely village in the midland. Not what one expects in a picturesque island. Interesting cocktails, beer, nice food. A little great stage that homes occasionally bands. Nice colours and decor, it could stand in any city.

Very moody and grand space, we had just quick coffee, but would be interested to stop by for live music or any event in future. Very cool place.

We stopped by for a coffee on a rainy day, and this place turned out to be a lovely surprise! The cozy atmosphere and thoughtful decor made it the perfect spot to relax and escape the weather. There’s also a charming yard that we would have loved to enjoy, if not for the rain. While the seating inside isn’t the most comfortable, the overall vibe more than made up for it.

Reportedly a couple of years ago, before smoking regulations, you couldn’t walk into this large space it was so full of smoke and stench. Now it’s a nice bar and restaurant, with live music and good food

A must visit café with a touch of Vienna style decoration. Huge space, sofas and chairs, they organize live music too. Very fresh tiramisu, Greek coffee so and so, but still OK. Smiling, friendly service from both the young girls, speaking good English. Don't miss it!
