This hotel wasn't the best, but it did what we needed. We were out early and back in the room fairly late or were too tired to care. The bed was comfortable enough but the rooms aren't pleasant looking. The only bonus was that we had a kitchenette. It gets the job done but if you are looking for more of a resort don't come here. The beach is very rocky on this part of the island too. The staff wasn't anything special. They are very very strict about the 3pm check in! Really annoying and I wish I knew ahead of time.

We had an absolute amazing stay at this hotel! The staff was great, but we can not say enough about having our own little cottage, the location to the beach, on site restaurants, and having the hot tub after a long day! Everything not only met, but exceeded our expectations for our stay on Kauai! We certainly recommend the cottages as they give you that truly private feel! Simply put... we had the best time at The Aston Aloha Beach Hotel in Kauai and can not wait to go back!

This is not the place to stay if you are looking for that paradise hotel with all the tropical amenities. There is no elegant swimming pool with a waterfall or massages by the beach. This is a place to stay if you want to save money so you can have a real island adventure. This is a place to sleep between hikes, boat rides, snorkeling, kayaking, and whatever fun you find on the island. This is not the hotel you stay at to stay at the hotel and Kauai is not an island that you go to, to stay at the hotel. There is no real night life so the it's Fun in the Sun!

Think of this as a reasonably priced place to sleep in Kauai and you won't be disappointed. The staff was very polite and helpful. The rooms have a bed, small refrigerator, and running water... if your idea of a vacation is sitting poolside or relaxing in the hot tub then you probably should avoid Kauai altogether and this is not your hotel.
The roosters will make sure you're out of bed at the crack of dawn. This is an explorers paradise, stay outside.

Do not stay at this hotel. This is definitely far from a resort. The place is in serious need of a renovation. Many of the rooms are closed due to extensive water damage and the place smells strongly of mold in some areas, particularly the 3rd floor. Pieces of the ceiling are starting to fall off in the hallways. Besides all that, they charge you an amenities fee, and I'm not sure for what, because there are none. There is no longer a bar in the hotel and free breakfast was a plate of fruit. If you wanted anything else, you had to pay more money. The cable and TV were horrible. We only found one channel we could watch clearly. We aren't picky people and just wanted a place to stay for one night. But this may have been one of the worst places I've stayed.

We went in Hawaii for 13 days: 5 days in Big Island, 4 days in Oahu, 4 in Gardens Island I remember I picked this hotel as the last place before leaving therefore I decided it would be the most expensive one choosing the Aston... it was the worst experience I've had with a hotel... I've been in 2 star hotels and between other bad things costumer service always comes through no matter what. it was not like that for this ocasión. There was a noise that the AC made that started at 4am. terrible costume service and there was no compensation about it. And I swear I'm not picky with hotels,at all.

Security has more muscle than brains. Make sure ALL your guests are registered and can produce a room key upon request. Our handicapped guest dozed off at the pool waiting for the rest of us. Security woke him up and told him he had to leave the premises instead of saying the pool was closed and to go to his room. Handicap guest came back later but authorized room guest was still out looking for him so security threatened handicap guest with arrest and escorted him off property again to have to sleep in the park in the cold like a dog. Next day no apologies and no manager with whom to file a complaint. Be careful!!

Back in the day (Elvis days with blue hawaii) you could tell this must have been a beautiful island hotel. But right now is in need of a MAJOR renovation !!! No flat screens here ! The AC - haha--- can't open sliding door !! If u want a cheap place to stay that is conveniently located an you don't mind old !! This is the place. A plus is the island FRIENDLY staff !!
