Nice hotel for the price, solid four star offering. Check in was a tad confused: both receptionists busy so another staff member approached and took my passport, was not offered a welcome drink or place to sit. Received a room with two twin beds instead of one queen, but was upgraded to an ocean-facing room instead of the city view I reserved so it evened out.
Rooms were tired with worn furniture, bedside power point did not work, but was clean and spacious. Slippers, tea, coffee, water provided. Lovely sunset view.
Very weak air conditioning. This is also one of the annoying hotels that requires a room key to be inserted or all power to the room is turned off, meaning nothing can be charged and the room becomes stiflingly hot. Only received one room key at check in so got around this by leaving a credit card in the card holder. Even leaving the air conditioning at full power for 12 hours, the room was on the warmer side of comfortable when I checked out.
Gym of the expected standard. Despite being an 18-storey ocean front hotel, the designers opted to place the pool on the third floor, behind the hotel tower - so it receives no sun, and the view is of closed hotel curtains. No dedicated poolside service, though a server from the second floor restaurant did eventually come up with food and beer (treated as room service). Second floor restaurant undergoing renovations and was not pleasant, prices reasonable for a hotel restaurant but opted not to stay due to the poor lighting and ambiance.
Breakfast buffet excellent.
For the price, entirely acceptable for a one-night stay between flights with comfortable if worn rooms, a lovely view, and pleasant staff.
