Great intimate theater to see Blue Man group. Had so much fun. First time was several years ago. Last time was last week. Had to see Blue Man group one last time before their incredible run in New York ends. Will miss them.

We saw the Blue Man Group here and they were amazing! Luckily they didn’t allow any photo or video which made the whole experience feel a lot more intimate and unique! The theatre felt quaint but not overcrowded, clean restrooms and very friendly staff everywhere!

This was my first time attending the Blue Man group. I have to give my honest opinion there was no rhyme or reason to this show. It was a little disgusting, when they spewed. The toilet paper was very interesting. But the music was everything and more than I expected and so cool. Five stars for me thank you so much for a great night. We even got upgraded to the front. 5 ⭐

Love me some blue man group show! Amazing entertaining, engaging from the moment it starts to the moment it ends, so exciting! I will definitely be back with my family and spread the word… I was best audience member 🥰 didn’t get a pic cause videos and pictures not allowed but is a experience they will live within me forever ❤️

Google
Blue Man Group is an entertaining show filled with music, some comedic elements, stimulating visuals, and wholesome fun. The theatre itself is small, thus offering an intimate experience in general. Staff was very hospitable and attentive. Guest spaces were clean and well maintained. I recommend a visit.

Google
Had a blast watching the blue man group today, really enjoyed getting to go back stage and meet the people behind the scenes, and to meet the blue men themselves. Amazing production and creativity that goes on in each show.

Went to see Yhe Blue Man Group. The seating is tight, but it's a great show! 1 of them owes me some Nerds candy!

Google
Very intimate theater to watch Blue Man Group. If you are tall, the seats are tough to sit in as there is no leg room. Splurge for seats with leg room if you can.

Yelp
I never get tired of the Blue Man Group show at Astor Place Theater so much fun. This was the first time I sat in the poncho section Wow so an amazing experience.

Yelp
A friend of mine wanted to go see Blue Man Group. So we came on down and hope that we could just pick up tickets right here at the box office. Success! The staff guided us through the protocols . we picked up our tickets right there at the front, we got in line for drinks and then we were seated. You could choose if you wanted to sit at the front wearing coat or in an area behind the 'raincoat rows.' It was very interesting show. It really use rhythms and physical comedy and expressions without The actors or performers saying anything. They chose a couple of people out of the audience and it was adorable to see them interacting just like it was an old movie ! The 3 main performers banged on drums and droplets of colorful paint when airborne. It was beautiful. Some of the airborne paint hit a canvas and you can buy the Jackson Pollock-esque artwork at the front desk on your way out. All the staff was pretty nice. It was in easy transaction and a nice evening out.

Yelp
The building itself was built in 1831, but the 298 seat capacity subterranean theater opened in 1968. The Blue Man Group (formed in 1987) have played here, continuously, since 1991. The men's room only has one urinal and one toilet. The pleather theatre seats could use a refurbishing.

Yelp
It's a very small theater... so just about every seat on the orchestra (except the ones in the back which have a partially obstructed view - as noted by the theater) is excellent. Many reviews indicate the seats are small. My husband and I are not tall, so we could see it being a bit tight for those who have long legs...but the seats seem pretty new and are nicely padded. We found the seats quite comfortable. We were there to see Blue Man Group, and in row MM orchestra level, we had an awesome view. Great show. Performers worked the audience and there is even a ladder for them to climb up to the balcony level to engage the audience there as well. They worked every part of the room by pulling audience participation from the back of the room as well as the front.

Yelp
I was here this past weekend to catch the Blue Man Group. My first time in this theater & because of how it is set up I didn't know what to expect, U head below & make your way inside. Small lobby area u can purchase show merchandise & use the restrooms. Not much much to be said about the theater nothing fancy as far as the decor goes. Theater wise it's pretty small & once inside cell service is a hit or miss. For the type of performance the blue man group is I guess the theater is sufficient. It could probably use a bit of a face lift ,some comfy chairs , new paint ?? I don't know a little something !!! my guess is this place has looked the same since it open wouldn't hurt to spruce it up a bit.

Yelp
OK, I will try not to be mean as it's not in my reviewing nature, but WTF is the deal with the friggin torture device seating?!!!! There is no way to describe the pain and suffering one goes through sitting through a show here. The indescribable numbness one feels in your butt, legs, feet, and nether regions will render you useless for the rest of the night. I felt like I was a victim in one of the SAW movies. My knees were dug into the chair back in front of me with my legs spread apart, while my ass was stuffed into a child's car seat, and my back was twisted into a contortionist's dream. Maybe these seats are only up in the mezzanine where I sat, but what sick twisted theater architect designed this horror? I do have to say though that the Blue Man Group is a terrific show. This review is just for the Astor Place theater. It is a small intimate venue and is good for this type off show. Just be aware of the seating, especially if you are a bigger person. Also, the lady selling her home made brownies in the lobby was very nice to chat with. She has sold over 2.5 million brownies there. Damn!

Yelp
Came to this theater to watch Blue Man Group! Totally worth it. I expected the theater to be bigger but it was smaller than expected. As soon as you go down the steps and open the door, the ticket booth is on the left side and the snack bar is on the right. There were only a 4 benches to seat while waiting for doors to open. Go to the bathroom and listen to their song haha it's so cute and catchy! Couldn't stop singing it after I got out. It's also nice and cool inside but once the show starts, it got hot super fast! Might be because we were wearing poncho's and the seats were a bit small.

Yelp
Came here to see Blue Man Group and so glad I read the reviews before I came! The theater is small, and while calling the seats "torture devices" is hyperbole, they are definitely small, but not any smaller than you would find at any other independent theater. If you see the show with a 6'4 construction worker like I did, you may find them having to do some creative leg work to fit into the seat, that's just how it is. I will say if you sit too far back towards the wall you miss seeing the band towards the upper part of the stage. It's not a very big deal, they're wearing neon while they play their instruments, but it matters to some. The theater is cold as others have mentioned, I didn't bother taking my coat off (where would I put it anyway?) and was never hot. Go to the bathroom BEFORE the show. And don't come late. Seriously, just don't do it. Everyone will hate you if you get up during the show because the other people in the row have no choice but to stand to let you out. And if you come late the performers very loudly call attention to you with spot lights and music! Take that latecomers! Pay attention to the music in the bathroom while you're there, I couldn't help but smirk. There is a concession stand with standard snacks, Junior Mints were displayed, a large bottle of water was $4. There are souvenirs available (shirts, pens, books) for fairly reasonable prices. Humor is completely family friendly.

Yelp
::: This review is for the theatre only ::: The blue man group experience was amazing and so much fun. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of this theatre. It's just as small as your basic New York City apartment; if not, smaller. I'm only 5'5 and I couldn't sit in the seats comfortably without my knees touching the person in front of me; I have no clue how the 6 ft people manage it. It's housed in a basement type of setting so you won't have any phone service (which I didn't mind for the performance). The small sized theater has matching bathrooms; the women's rooms only had 2 stalls and you barely have space to sneeze without it hitting everything. I wished they would've hosted this experience somewhere else.

Yelp
The blue man group staff at Astor Place Theater are amazing. The customer service and professionalism of their staff is exemplary. Amanda, Latrisha and Martha went above and beyond in creating a memorable experience for my nephew. We haven't even attended our show yet but based on my experience thus far with the Blue Man Group staff, I felt like I needed to post a 5 star review. Of course I will be adding to this review after the show!

Yelp
The Astor Place Theatre is a small theatre that houses the Blue Man Group weekly performances. Within walking distance to Washington Square Park and the NYU campus, it is tucked under ground. When you step inside it's nothing fancy or to rave about. It's dim with low lighting so that you can see the gifts and foods you might buy. There are two small bathrooms located outside of the theatre seating area so be prepared to stand in line. Once inside the seating area, the cold temperature of the theatre hits you. The reason for this is due to the paint that the Blue Man Group use for their costumes and shows. And that is where the fun begins The Blue Man Group performance is a once in a lifetime event that you cannot pass up if you are able to get tickets. The show begins with a bang and ends with a bang. The group uses paint, comedy, audience members, props, music, strobe lights, food, and whatever else they can get their hands on to keep the audience intrigued. There was never a dull moment filled with excitement and some educational moments weaved in. I left the experience wanting more and trying to understand what I just saw. It boggled my mind how something so eclectic as The Blue Man Group could bring everything and everyone together through varying aspects. I left the Astor Place Theatre with my senses stimulated and wanting more.

Yelp
This theater is tiny, which is probably just normal for Manhattan. The seats had very little leg room. If you are taller than 5'9' you might want to be sure you are in the front row or between sections. The facilities were fine. Nice bathroom and water fountain. The blue man group show was excellent. I would have given 4 stars except for the tiny seats and leg room issue.

Yelp
This review is for the theater itself. It is somewhat underground, you will lose cell reception- well at least I did, not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. The space is quite small. Chairs are tightly situated together. I'm skinny and had people sitting on both sides and couldn't stretch out at all... My party also sat on the balcony level. Before the show, I waited in line to use the two stall restroom and when I came back my party was settled in. Imagine everybody in the row has to completely stand up and file out of the row for me to get in... Or I could literally climb over some chairs to get to my seat. What do you think I chose? Luckily the row directly in front of us was unoccupied and I climbed up. The seats are like nosebleeds, but tighter together. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked, but you will wait in line during a rush. Tip: go 15 minutes prior to showtime and after the show wait 20-30 minutes or else you'll be stuck in the line. It is important to note that the staff for the theater were very friendly.

Yelp
I saw the Blue Man Group at this theater. The show was GREAT! Fun, unique and entertaining! Worth the money! The Astor Place theater on the other hand was below average. The bathroom line for the men and women were ridiculously long. They only have to stalls for each. The seats are VERY tight and uncomfortable. They do not serve alcohol.

Yelp
Great fun, totally entertaining, like nothing I've ever seen. Loved the little theatre; seats were very comfortable unless you're really huge. We would go again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
"If you could see It, then you'd understand.." (song was playing as I began typing)- My wife and I have seen The Blue Man Group for the 2nd time (First was In Portland, OR), this time in NYC; just as entertaining, although, the size of the theater was significantly smaller -- fortunately, the show tends to take you into a completely different space once it begins! The "trance inducing",/sensory stimuli that you can experience during this show is a very unique "splattering" of many different elements for the audience to appreciate - The Blue Man Group Interestingly conducts an artistically displayed blend of Physics, biology, plus some awesome noise meets comedy (something like that :), and much more.. Can be very entertainingly-educational for kids, adults as well. You kind of leave the show with an appreciation for the senses, and the beautiful colors that they allow us to experience everyday. Well that's our 5 stars!!

Yelp
Come for the experience and come hungry. Indoors activity. Walk around, see the different kitchens, smells & food. Nice.

Yelp
It was an okay of a performance. It's more for tourists and children. Should have gone to see spiderman!

Yelp
Great venue for Blue Man Group, but honestly: it's a bit of a fire-trap, the seats are outdated and the air conditioning filters need to be replaced.

Yelp
This theater is really small, it is on two levels but feels cramped. Staff is friendly. Came to see the blue man group show which was great but found the theater under whelming. It smells of trash outside as you descend down to the ticket booth. Bathrooms are very limited, expect a long line as they have only two stalls, your better off going to the starbucks one on the corner earlier. 2 stars
