Yelp
I have to start by mentioning the exceptional service provided by Jonathan and Tate at the front desk. They were incredibly hospitable and kind! They gave us restaurant recommendations and a small gift since we were celebrating a birthday. We called the hotel prior to our arrival and were met with laughably bad service by a Marriot rep, but were pleasantly surprised by the service once we arrived. The staff we met throughout our stay were all very kind, but Jonathan and Tate especially.
The rooms fell a bit short of expectation. I had purchased a room with a nicer view and was met with a dirty rooftop, litter, and most notably- a giant wall of graffiti. While the surrounding buildings are no responsibility of the hotel, I did feel a bit slighted that I had paid extra for a worse-than-average view. I feel that if you're paying more for a view, they need to put you on a higher floor away from the inevitable obstructions that are an obvious eyesore. The rooms are also very small. The bathroom doors are thin glass panels that slide to "close," leaving a huge gap and nearly no privacy (pro tip - if you're shy, there are pristinely clean restrooms downstairs in the lobby, lol.)
Onto the pros, the bathroom counter was spacious, the shower got nice and hot, and the café downstairs was a great breakfast option. The blackout curtains were lovely after a late night spent at the hotel bar upstairs (Altitude Sky Lounge, reviewed separately.) Our view was a little more pleasant in the evening when the graffiti wall was no longer lit by the sun. The beds were comfortable enough and we spent some time in the gym as well, which was tidy and had lots of machines.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay, but probably wouldn't return. For a Tribute Portfolio hotel, the rooms felt cheap and the techy theme came across as a bit kitschy. I would, however, consider running in for breakfast at the café or more Seattle recs from the front desk staff.
