I have stayed at the Astra Hotel in Vevey on two occasions, and my experiences have been somewhat mixed. On the positive side, the hotel’s location is excellent, right next to the train station, making it incredibly convenient. The rooms, while a bit dated, have fully functioning air conditioning (during summer), reliable hot water (albeit with inconsistent water pressure) and TVs with international channels. However, I encountered some challenges during my stays. In the winter, the rooms became uncomfortably warm since the air conditioning is deactivated, and cooling the room required opening windows to very cold outdoor temperatures, which also let in significant noise from the station area. Additionally, I feel it would be more accommodating for a four-star hotel to provide more than one complimentary bottle of water for a three-night stay, as charging 6 CHF per bottle from the minibar feels excessive. As for the facilities, they are functional but fairly standard. The gym is basic, the spa was not operational during my visit, and while I didn’t dine in the restaurant, it appeared popular, suggesting the food is likely good. On the other hand, the breakfast was underwhelming for the price (25 CHF), as the buffet selection was unimpressive, limited, and could be more imaginative. Overall, the hotel offers convenience and basic comfort, but I believe some improvements could bring it more in line with four-star expectations.

The hotel is directly in front of the train station, so it is ideal for those without a car. The visitor card gives free access to good local public transport services. Our room was of good size and comfortable. We were happy with the hotel food, and the prices not out of line with Switzerland

This hotel was booked as part of a Saga group booking and it was one of the worst hotels we stayed at during our trip. Our room (310) had the smallest bathroom with a rusty and dirty towel radiator which had clearly never been cleaned. The pipes would make a terrible noise when you flushed the toilet or used the taps, and the noise would go on for ages. Some in our group complained and were moved to better rooms which made me wonder why we were not put in these rooms in the first place if they were available. The air conditioning unit in the room was also very noisy. We would have left our windows open if it had not been so noisy outside the hotel due to it's proximity to the train station. The area had an uncomfortable feel to it with drug dealers frequenting the area around the train station. I also found one of the receptionists (a woman on 29.09.24 at 9.30am) at the front desk quite rude and miserable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We were given a room (310) with a very small bathroom, the towel radiator had rust and dust on it. The pipes in the bathroom would make a horrible noise every time you turned the taps on or flushed the toilet and the noise would go on for ages after. The air conditioning unit was really noisy and would click loudly when the vents moved. We were right next to the station and it was very noisy and busy outside the hotel. The receptionist was very rude and miserable. Although we were part of a SAGA holiday group booking, it seemed like the hotel had given us the worst rooms possible it was only when some of the group complained that they were moved to better rooms (which clearly were available) and which we should have been given in the first place. It totally ruined our holiday on our last day in Switzerland.

4th Hotel we've stayed at in Switzerland. The breakfast buffet is disappointing in comparison. We had to ask for an electric kettle and tea for the room (the other 3 all came with them) . The kettle came on a dusty acrylic tray with a paper napkin on it, a selection of tea but no sugar. The mattresses are very firm and uncomfortable if you are a side sleeper due to pressure on your hips and shoulders. On the plus side it is directly across from the train station and a short walk to the historical center of Vevey

The Astra Hotel in Vevey provided a comfortable, first-class stay. Everything worked well. Check in and check out were smooth. It was especially convenient for train travelers, with its location directly across the street from the main entrance to the station. The Coop market in the train station was well stocked, and everything looked fresh for a quick meal or refreshment. There was also a good choice of restaurants in the neighborhood. This hotel is an all-around excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers!

I spent three weeks researching reviews for everywhere from Geneva to montreux for this specific reason….. if youre traveling anytime between june and september this is the only review you need….. REAL IN ROOM INDIVIDUAL AIR CONDITIONING UNITS. Not the fake advertising of most Geneva hotels which say air conditioning to attract business but are bait and switch with climate control instead . This is real Air conditioning which is a must now in switzerland in the summer. Ive never been happier walking into a room and seeing that white mechanism on the wall after weeks of researching hoping for a 40% chance.
