Astray Motel Rotorua

Incredibly lovely staff. Very helpful and accommodating to my wants and needs. Clothes washing and drying facilities were great for my longer stay. Kitchen facilities were well stocked up with utensils etc and kept well clean.

Stayed at Astray for 3 nights and was really impressed! The location is amazing—literally right in the center of Rotorua so everything is walking distance. The front desk staff were super friendly and gave great tips on where to go. The room was small but clean and quiet (especially since it's the low season). For the price, it’s honestly a steal. Don’t expect a 5-star hotel, but for backpackers or budget travellers it’s perfct. Would def stay again!

DO NOT STAY HERE! DONT STAY HERE! DONT STAY HERE! the images online do not match the accommodation. the rooms smell so bad you could not sleep in them. We arrived and refused to stay and the lady refused to refund us. the place is full of emergency housing people. I have never had a worse accommodation experience in my life. it has a 3.6 start rating, which is false.

I can highly recommend this place. The room was lovely, comfy bed and TV with Netflix and YouTube. They have very unique rooms and even a kitchen to cook. Actually great for backpackers as they also have dorms. But the best thing about this place are the owners and the lady that cleans. I had severe mental health issues and they were so kind and understanding. This is a very safe and lovely place to stay!

Stayed in the double deluxe room. About what you would expect for the cheap price. Better than we expected though and enjoyed the stay overall. No major flaws other than the bathroom door handle being quite loose, still closed and locked fine though. The woman at the reception very attentive and friendly making the experience even more enjoyable. Thanks! :)

Great location, everything near. Very comfortable beds, very clean. Common kitchen to use. The couple who runs it is lovely and very helpful. We felt like at home. Very recommendable.

As it was a cold winter end of week and weekend was given a accessible studio room as top was room was noticeably cold the ground floor room had a suitable heater in use clean tidy recommend for short stays friendly staff also got extra top sheet for comfort and warmth and welcoming smile

We only paid $91 NZD, which is very cheap for Rotorua off peak. The room was small, yet very clean with all the normal amenities including TV, fridge, kettle, fan and heater. Service would great, would stay again. Perfect budget accomodation.

I paid $55 for a small private room, i think it is the cheapest in rotorua, but it exceeded my expectations. very clean, and comfortable. i don't think i can find anything better at this price.

I'd give it 3.5 stars. Small room but clean and has everything you need with a bed, mini fridge, microwave, small seating area table, small bathroom. I kept bumping into the wall while showering. Only a fan for a/c. Its a good location close to the main bus terminal. You get 1 GB WiFi.

One of the better hostels I've been in on my trip to New Zealand so far. Man at desk was super nice and helpful. Rooms are clean, quiet, and have everything you need (like a desk, beds with plenty of blankets, a heater, a fridge, shelves, trash cans) the only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the stoves gave me a bit of a hard time.
