Astray Motel Rotorua

Astray is very well located (close to all the attractions and food spots) and the workers are very nice. Although the rooms are small and can get a little hot, it’s nothing an open window and a complimentary fan can’t fix. Clean beds and a decent bathroom. Overall a nice stay.

Amazing for the price, location was excellent and the two people working there were lovely, stayed for two nights and had no problem. The shared kitchen/lounge was a nice bonus, with proper cooking facilities and a large table for games being very convenient.

Me and my daughters enjoyed our space, a bit on the hot side for the room. I would stay at this place again. Pricing is also good especially for two nights 😊. Give this place a chance. I look forward to staying here again.

We travelled to Rotorua for a family reunion. We chose this place as it was very centrally located. After our stay we have noticed we are covered in small red itchy bites. My doctor has said these appear to be bed bug bites. I feel very grossed out by the whole disgusting experience. There are a lot of people on site who appear to be living there full time. I asked one lady and she said she has lived there for over a year. The motel also needs to address the filth in the drains that smell. I see people have been giving this place a 5/5 I have to wonder if these are the owners doing this. This motel is not 5/5

photos different to the actual motel and rooms. photos make this place look good. was very dirty and cockroaches. many better place to stay in rotorua. do not stay here. lots of people living there.

DO NOT STAY HERE! DONT STAY HERE! DONT STAY HERE! the images online do not match the accommodation. the rooms smell so bad you could not sleep in them. We arrived and refused to stay and the lady refused to refund us. the place is full of emergency housing people. I have never had a worse accommodation experience in my life. it has a 3.6 start rating, which is false.

I stayed in a private single room, just perfect for what I need. clean and friendly, centrally located. Great value

we stayed 2 nights, and they were the best nights of my life. nice safe, comfortable and very nice location.

I paid $55 for a small private room, i think it is the cheapest in rotorua, but it exceeded my expectations. very clean, and comfortable. i don't think i can find anything better at this price.

I'd give it 3.5 stars. Small room but clean and has everything you need with a bed, mini fridge, microwave, small seating area table, small bathroom. I kept bumping into the wall while showering. Only a fan for a/c. Its a good location close to the main bus terminal. You get 1 GB WiFi.

One of the better hostels I've been in on my trip to New Zealand so far. Man at desk was super nice and helpful. Rooms are clean, quiet, and have everything you need (like a desk, beds with plenty of blankets, a heater, a fridge, shelves, trash cans) the only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the stoves gave me a bit of a hard time.
