We really enjoyed our stay here! Our room (we stayed in a King kitchenette room) was spacious and decorated in style with very fun retro furnishings and appliances. We enjoyed having our morning coffee and granola at the kitchen table. It is VERY centrally located to downtown Santa Rosa, which is bustling with bars and restaurants. We also ate the Spinster Sisters, two times actually, we had to go back for more beautiful food and wine. The only drawback for us was no pool. We always enjoy late afternoon pool time after a day of wine tasting! But, the grounds are lovely. Also, thought it was odd that no lotion was provided in the room or at the front desk or in the vending machine, which actually had many fun items (smile).

This small retro motel is a Santa Rosa gem. We stayed here on our trip to Sebastapol. It's in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, with funky decor and a nice bathroom. We enjoyed the firepit and the complimentary breakfast the next morning and sat in the sunny courtyard. It was quiet and felt really private. Would absolutely stay here again!

This is a consciously Funky place delivered via Time Warp The 1963 bones are apparent, but the courtyard fruit trees, picnic tables and random Polynesian-style concrete sculptures are oddly comfortable and funny. Rooms are updated, with comfy beds and one can easily walk to any downtown pub, restaurant or cafe. Across the street is the Luther Burbank site, if boredom strikes. If you appreciate kitsch, you'll love this place!

I can't say enough good things about the Astro Motel! It was one of my favorite places to stay, on a very long road trip. First, it was immaculately clean. (I'm very picky, and notice everything, and this was so clean!) And, our room was decorated with such care and attention to detail: mid-century photography, paintings, sculpture, and lamps; mid-century teak desk and nightstands; vintage rugs; and retro finishes. It just made me feel good to be there. And there was a very comfy platform bed, water in the fridge, both waterfall and handheld shower heads, good water pressure, a nice TV...all those things you really appreciate when you are traveling. And , it was quiet. Soooo nice to relax there. Next time I'm in the area, I'll certainly stay at the Astro again.

The pet-friendly king suite served as our temporary home/office for 8 days in July. Because housekeeping only enters upon request, it was easy to keep our senior cat calm and safe during our stay. We also appreciated the room's comfortable bed, well-stocked kitchenette, large desk, fast and reliable wifi, free and easy parking, and windows with shutters and screens. We walked to several great restaurants, Art Alley, Luther Burbank gardens, and the main square downtown. Matt, Bob, and other staffers were friendly, kind, and helpful whenever we had questions, sought recommendations, or simply needed fresh towels. Would absolutely stay here again!

Loved our stay here! The courtyard was so lovely and all the fruit trees were in bloom. The hotel is a short walk to Railroad Square and delicious tacos are right next store. There is a beautiful park adjacent and a wonderful cafe across the street. The room was clean and perfectly mid century. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely would stay here again when in Santa Rosa.

Found a gem. Really enjoyed the retro look. Very quiet. Short walk to downtown. Grounds fun to look at and well maintained. Room was comfortable albeit on the small side. Granola and yogurt breakfast was perfect. Staff friendly. Would stay here again.

What a gem! We went wine tasting in Healdsburg and were so glad we found the Astro Motel. Location was perfect—15 minutes from J Winery and 8 minutes from Burtonz (most delicious meat pies). Service was impeccable. Rachelle was super helpful answering all of questions. Linens were clean, fresh. Casper mattress was amazing! Got much needed sleep. Breakfast was more than enough to get the day started. Spinster granola was delicious! Room was spacious. Bathroom was well-designed. Water from shower did not splash everywhere. The controls were placed on the “correct side” aka the opposite end of the shower head. Toiletries were a good quality. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner did not leave you with that icky feeling. The fruits!!! You must pick fruits (whatever is in season). They even have a picker!! Apples, mandarins, lemons, limes, cherries, berries!! If you’re debating. Don’t. Just book.

Yelp
Great easy stay, me and my son came up on the SMART train for a one night stay and the front desk went over the top to get us in our room early and even brought our bags in and had the travel crib set up for him so he could take a quick nap before we explored Santa Rosa. The hotel itself was freshly renovated with a fun aesthetic, the breakfast was great (very good coffee) and the location was right across from a wonderful park.

Yelp
This was my favorite hotel experience of my entire trip, and I recommend staying here if you're staying in Santa Rosa! The Astro is a newly remodeled and modern motel, with a distinctly retro space theme. The rooms are on two levels in multiple buildings around a courtyard that's landscaped and has a fire pit for weekend hangouts. Check in was a breeze and the attendant was super welcoming. The complex has a lounge and meal area, a cool local artwork vending machine is outside near the ice machines. The rooms had eclectic furniture with all modern fixtures including the bathroom and sink area. They also have a huge wine fridge, which is a necessity if exploring the wineries in this area. The hotel was very quiet, even more so being next to a beautiful park. It's walking distance from downtown, the river pathways, gardens, historical sites, breweries, and restaurants. Room rates are fair for the area.

Yelp
The Astro is out of this world! My husband & I recently stayed here for 2 nights as our home base for exploring Sonoma County and the Sonoma Coast for his birthday before heading further north to go ziplining. What they've done to this property over the past several years is something quite special and otherworldly! Sorry, the puns keep coming to me lol! ;) It's giving "The Jetsons" mixed with an urban, artsy & maybe even a little hipster vibe...pretty unique if you ask me! Not only is their location convenient and walking distance to many cafes, restaurants and downtown Santa Rosa, but it's also situated directly across the street from a lovely neighborhood park called Juilliard Park that we loved taking a walk through in the morning or early evening. Love biking/cycling? They have Shinola bikes available to rent, or if you bring your own bikes, they have a storage facility and even an on-site bike repair station! We're definitely going to take advantage of that the next time we stay here (which will be soon - we actually just booked another stay here!). The breakfast provided for guests was unexpected and awesome! Being vegan/plant-based, there were several things we couldn't partake in like the yogurt, pastries/donuts, etc, but we loved the fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and the Spinster Sisters Granola (incredible!). The breakfast is served in their guest lounge, which in itself is another cool little place for guests to chill & hang out. They've got board games, vintage furniture & decor, and even music! Room details: comfy bed, great rain shower head (!), clean (except for a big dirt spot or stain on the top sheet which we just avoided), unique mid-century decor & furniture (there are no 2 rooms exactly alike), good-sized mini fridge to store some food with a few optional drinks and snacks for purchase, and nice view of the central garden and courtyard area. Speaking of which has fire pits, Cornhole games, fruit trees and various plants, local art sculptures, and lots of places to sit and relax. The gentleman who was working in the office the morning we checked out (6/24/24) was incredibly friendly and kind (thank you and sorry I forgot your name!). We truly were over the moon and had a stellar stay at The Astro!

Yelp
Really great to really bad. First the really bad. Received checkout pdf. Opening it I found my bill increased by $16.35. I also noticed a "donation " which looking back to my booking email was on the original reservation but didn't notice. Called the hotel and asked why my bill went up and after checking - they couldn't tell me why. The "donation" to SRUAP was only $7.41. But I expect to be asked if I want to donate and told what organization I'm donating too - not just find it on my bill. Still don't know what SRUAP is. Both were refunded to my credit card. I emailed the manager about another issue and in my second email asked about the billing. I've given the manager several days to address this and the manager hasn't respond to that email. So were these charges an error or do they increase everyone's bill to make extra and reimburse if caught? If they fill 5 rooms a night = 35 rooms a week and overcharge each $10.00 = 350.00 week or 1,400 a month. $16,800 a year. Adds up nicely. My other issue is the lounge microwave they advertise. During my stay they gave it to another customer for a day. Long story short there was another micro in another locked building I had to track someone down to use. When the micro was being returned to the lounge I asked to have it in my room. I was told no. So I asked why the other customer could have it in their room and I couldn't as I paid full price for my room. The gal in the office just looked at me. Because - there is no answer. If you read through negative reviews you will find a common theme of personnel problems. My first email to the manager was about the microwave issue. Instead of offering a rebate on my stay she offered a 20% on my next stay. I emailed she should make it right by rebating my last stay, the stay that went wrong. She never emailed me back. The good. The remodel on the hotel, rooms, lounge and grounds are excellent. Somewhat a drawback the parking lot is very small and I wouldn't have wanted to park in the area around the hotel. The outside lighting is very bright. The windows only have wood shutters. I could make out the detail on the artwork on the wall with the interior lights off. If you're interested in retro hotels I recommend The Orbit in Palm Springs CA $$$ or The Foothills $$ in Auburn CA. Both have stellar employees.

Yelp
I stayed at the Astro the weekend because I was in town for the Santa Rosa marathon. I only stayed one night, but it was a pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, letting me book a late check out without a hassle. The parking lots were very tight, but I was able to find a spot in the overflow lot. The motel itself was very cute and I the bed was so comfortable! The courtyard was lovely and had so much character. They also had this cool vending machine with all kinds of funky stuff in it. The breakfast pastries were amazing in the morning on Saturday morning, I wish I could eat it all over again! It was a little pricey for what it is, but I can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Lovely hip 50s motel, remodeled with exceptional flair with a beautiful courtyard sculpture garden. Great central neighborhood allowed my wife and I a morning walk through Juilliard Park and the Luther Burbank gardens, just across the street. Included breakfast was not the usual cheap danishes but fresh-baked delights from a neighborhood bakery, along with artisan granola and great berries. (Coffee wasn't my favorite. I never say this, but I found it brewed a hair too strong. Literally my only grouse.) Parking is just a bit awkward, but the price was more than fair for Wine Country and we were just pleased as could be with our stay.

Yelp
I booked one night at The Astro through booking.com the night before my trip and got a great rate. ($128 total) I arrived early in the day and was trying to pass some time but it was a hot one so I called to ask if I could check in a bit early (an hour early). I spoke to Bob and he said no problem. Come on over. Bob is the best! Very charming and made me feel welcome. He also walked me to my room to showed me around. I love mid-century style so the decor and design was totally up my alley. My room (#217) was super clean and I was very impressed. I was able to fill up my water bottle in the lounge and the next morning I also grabbed breakfast there as well. I had coffee, yogurt (Clover!) and a donut. They also had some fresh fruit. I was very happy with my stay and would totally stay again.

Yelp
I love an artsy motel with a story! The mid century deco and vintage furniture are a nice touch. Stay was very comfortable. Friendly staff. Loved the breakfast setup of yogurt, yummy granola, fruit, coffee & tea provided. Onsite parking included that felt safe. Great merch for sale in the lobby! Walkable food nearby and short drive to the downtown area, museum, spas and vineyards. Comfy Casper bed!!!

Yelp
My experience was stellar, from the start when I made the reservation to when we left - top notch customer service, communication and accomodation. They really did an amazing job with renovations, the only suggestion I have is to add more storage shelves in the kitchen and bathrooms, you have to get creative with where to put things, it would be lovely if a few simple shelves were added. We LOVED the vibe, the room, everyone that works there - Evelyn, Bob are who I remember but everyone we encountered were so accommodating, helpful and kind. The grounds are beautiful (with fruit bearing trees you are welcome to sample) and we just loved the parks next door. Top notch! Thank you for making our stay what we had hoped, memorable! We def felt welcomed and will be back!

Yelp
Loved the citrus-filled courtyard, the welcoming lounge, the secure bike parking, and the funky vending machine. Staff were especially welcoming. Location is really close to the train. Wish we had planned to stay longer so we could have explored a little more. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Original: had a really disappointing experience here with an employee, who was extremely unprofessional and wouldn't budge to make it a good experience for us despite being given every chance. The management team also failed to adequately respond after the fact Response: Your organization already had several chances to get this right and failed them all. Your public feigned concern is not in line with the complete absence of any response to the detailed, respectful, and thoughtful email I sent to the management team a few days after the event that received not even the consideration of a generic reply.

Yelp
Stayed here for a night while visiting Santa Rosa, pleasantly surprised about the cuteness of the hotel and interior furniture. Mid century modern style (so millennial, yeah). For the note, if you like any item in your room/outside, you can order them from their website. It was quite a decent hotel with many closeby attractions. I'd consider here again if I visit Santa Rosa.

Yelp
I was in town for one night for a memorial service. Super cute hotel. Super helpful/friendly staff. I enjoyed my stay.

Leslie K.

Yelp
I had a lovely stay at The Astro but I would give you a heads up on two things: 1. the room has a cold cement floor. be sure to have slippers or sleep socks. 2. the parking lot is a tough one. I smacked my own car (thought I had the room but I didn't so not anyone's fault but my own.). Be prepared for a tight fit. The location was perfect because I was there for the dog show at the fairgrounds. I do wish there was coffee set ups in the room rather than the pricey nuts and water, only because I had to get moving quick each day I was there. I would stay again!

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
I had to cancel due to an emergency and Rochelle was great and so helpful in canceling the reservation -- coming up with solutions so I can come up and stay at a later date. Thank you!

Yelp
I like the concept. Take an old motor lodge from 1963, strip it clean, install new wallpaper, windows, fixtures, appliances, and add new furniture and art, but with a retro feel. No need for carpeting; just refinish the cement floors. Turn the former central parking area into a nice garden/courtyard. Call it an "urban motel" and charge higher (but not outrageous) prices. But "ruh-roh", there were just too many issues for me at The Astro: -- Lobby was dark/closed at my my arrival (about 6 pm). I had to call a phone number, then wait for someone to show up. -- No coffee in the room. And no coffee served downstairs until 8 a.m. This is a major fail with me. A full star off for that alone. -- Multiple things in the room didn't work, including a few lights. The mini-fridge would not get cold enough (A good thing I had a small cooler and could get ice here). -- Speaking of temp issues, the water wouldn't get hot enough (perhaps I should call it the "Tepid Motel") -- It wasn't possible to black-out the windows very much, so I was up earlier than desired (see coffee issue above) It's too bad, because the Astro was a cute place in an excellent location; it was next to a nice park and was also a short walking distance to many downtown pubs & restaurants (including a certain brewery). I also did enjoy the kitschy vibe here. Tough to rate, especially since the place sorta grew on me over my two-night stay. But based on total price, and broken promises, it gets an "OK"

Yelp
We stayed for one night and my only disappointment was not staying longer! This little hotel was so unique. I loved the decor and the lounge was awesome but the gift shop vending machine omg so cool!! I would totally recommend this little gem!
google avatar

Sierra M.

Yelp
Amazing gem of a hotel! The rooms are so unique and comfortable. The breakfast is all local and that appears to be the theme. They have so many fruit trees on the property too, took all my will to not take one of the gorgeous lemons growing on the tree.

Yelp
This is one of those 60s era motels that garnered a bad reputation over the years and then was bought and renovated in 2017 into what could now be safely called a boutique motel. It still sits in a transitional neighborhood, but it's heading in the gentrification direction. There are two floors, somewhere around 30 rooms, and each one of them is decorated differently. They all follow an artsy motif though, with lots of little cool bits thrown in for good measure. From the moment I checked in, with Elsa in the front office, I knew I was in for a very different experience. The L-shaped motel cradles an outdoor garden and sitting area for motel guests. There are two different parking lots, both are small and if the motel was completely full, I'm not sure where everybody would park, the street? Definitely not an easy spot to park an RV or big truck. Once you slide the key card and step in to the room you are greeted by more funky/cool art stuff, a very comfortable bed, nice big shower and even a mini bar! Although, as mini bars, go, this is no big deal, just a couple of cans of generic beer, and some cartons of water. Obviously not as cheap as a motel 6, but in such a different league than your average motel. A nice alternative to those generic chain motels. The room also had microwave/fridge for you DIYers. The bed was a fluffy dream and the bathroom shower had TWO shower heads, one overhead and one on the wall that you can move around. It's a rare motel that offers that kind of a shower experience, just give it several minutes for the hot water to make it to your room. Like I said before, not really in a walking neighborhood, but only a couple minutes drive to just about anything you might need while on the road. For those of you looking for a little something different, and with an eye for pop art, this might just be your new favorite spot.

Wendy G.

Yelp
Very clean & quiet. Great ambience. Retro motel surrounded by gorgeous trees and sculptures. Incredibly friendly staff. They provide an all organic morning spread daily. Fire pit, tables and chairs throughout the property. Great breakfast spot across the street. I highly recommend this quaint motel.

Yelp
We had a great stay at The Astro. What a gem this place is. The room is spacious and very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had a huge rain shower head. No there isn't a microwave but there is one just downstairs in the lounge and there is a small fridge. The air conditioner works well too! The staff is so friendly and helpful from the time I made the reservation until the time we left. They are dog friendly too and there is a beautiful park right across the street. We will definitely stay here again!!

Locke W.

Yelp
Great spot! Friendly staff. Walking to plenty of amenities. Old school motel revamped. Don't expect the Ritz, but we love it!

Carson P.

Yelp
It was a bit of a struggle to get the room door to open with the key, but I would still rate this a 5 star because person working there who checked us in/out was super friendly. They provided easy to understand instructions for parking and had a cute outside sitting area. They are walking distance to several restaurants, the movie theater, and mall. We were in town for a marathon and it was a great location to stay.

Alejandra M.

Yelp
I was so scared of coming here at first because it's a "motel" but omg it exceeded our expectations! It's so beautiful and modern. It's such a short walking distance from downtown. We went to Santa Rosa for a Brewery so we just walked there. It's across the street from a beautiful park and a garden. The rooms were clean and the bed was so comfortable. I would stay here again. I'd also like to thank the check-in girl, I forgot her name. But she was so friendly and walked us around the motel to show us our room. Thank you for a great stay!!!
google avatar

Claudia R.

Yelp
I can't praise this little gem enough! What a stellar remodeling it has gone through! From the moment we checked in, we knew we made the right choice the staff is friendly and made excellent recommendations for dinner and breakfast . We stayed in room 113 and as soon as we opened the door we were WOWED, what a chic place and clean and modern. Loved every thing they have done outside and the sculpture garden. We will come back and request to be in a different room, just so we can experience the different decorations.
google avatar

Melanie M.

Yelp
Over priced motel with concrete floors. Nicely decorated with retro designs but way to expensive for what you get. So many signs telling you that the artifacts in the room need to be preserved, I felt like I was in a museum not a place to lay my head. They offer a granola continental breakfast but nothing to write home about. I would not stay here again. I can find more bang for that buck somewhere else.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Found this adorable motel on TripAdvisor. Retro motel tastefully reimagined with The Jetsons in mind. Rooms are really cool with nostalgia around and wood slabs for headboard. The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows comfortable, very cute bathroom but small with the sink outside the bathroom door. TV was a little hard to figure out but who needs to watch tv? Plenty of things to do in the area and a nice walk to downtown to shop and bar hop. Great motel and the check in was easy and the clerk friendly and informative. Highly recommend.

Dinah Y.

Yelp
Great value for cute upscale motel. Laid back style. Great location. Staff were welcoming and laid back. Enjoyed our stay.

Paula W.

Yelp
What a find! Totally happy with my stay at The Astro Motel. Mid-century modern, with a bit of a European flair. Just the right about of everything in the room: desk, fridge, great bed & pillows, clean and large shower, two headed shower, great reading materials. Even an iron & ironing board. Check-in and check-out so easy, and parking onsite. I will be visiting again.
google avatar

Zita M.

Yelp
My friends and I chose this motel to crash after a nearby wedding we all attended. The rooms are modern and decorated with style. Coffee and breakfast snacks were included, and it's conveniently nearby the highway. The courtyard is also neatly kept. Felt safe, however I had to park on the street since the parking lot was full. My only complaint is about how thin the walls are. Room service started to clean the room next to us at 10am - and I really didn't want to wake up to the sound of a vacuum cleaner on a Sunday. With that said, if I can hear a vacuum cleaner next door, thank goodness we had a quiet neighbor, because I am sure we could have heard "other types" of activities too .... Managment / owner should look into improving sound proofing the rooms.

Yelp
Stayed for one night. We always stay at The Astro when we visit family. We like the rooms, grounds, and location. We have a dog and it's very dog friendly. There are good restaurants and the Red Bird Bakery close by. Juilliard park is across the Street. It looked safe. Room is fine even with a concrete floor. There was a nice heater. Bed was ok, li fine. There's a cool lounge area with vintage audio equipment. Continental breakfast was coffee, tea, apples, and yogurt. The coffee was weak for my taste. The yogurt kept body and soul together until we could make it to the nice bakery around the corner. We accidentally scooped up the popcorn/nuts/caramel bags on the counter. They charged us $12 each and they were stale. We don't suggest those, actually strongly advise not eating the food in the room. There are a couple of cool areas to sit with nice sculptures. We'll go back but not eat the food in the room.
google avatar

Alana K.

Yelp
Second time staying here last month was great. This time we were accompanied by our small dog. When I called to confirm they're dog friendly they informed me they'd price match any third party rate, so I ended up getting our standard queen room for a little less than their own site advertised which is awesome. The neighborhood felt a little cleaner/safer than a few years ago. The park next door is a great spot for a morning walk, and I still highly recommend Dierk's across the street for breakfast. If you're lucky enough to swing through on a Thursday or Friday night be sure to check out the pop-up bar in the Astro's lounge. You don't want to miss some seriously delicious cocktails. Otherwise you're a short walk to downtown with plenty of other options. I think my only gripe is that coffee isn't available in the breakfast lounge until 8am. Oh, and that there's no microwave in the rooms, though there's a communal one in the lounge for guest use. These things will not stop me from coming back for another stay.

Rachel W.

Yelp
Casually racist to me and didn't treat me as warmly as the Caucasians before me. They also keep rejecting my review reflecting the same information on Expedia so it doesn't post. Room was clean and overall environment is quiet.
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
This place is a gem in Santa Rosa! Reasonable rates, hip retro design, very comfortable beds and excellent customer service. This is my favorite place to stay in SR from now on.
google avatar

Henry S.

Yelp
There are a lot of things to like about this place: the decor and proximity to restaurants. My only quibble is my room was a little chilly. The heater wasn't great. Otherwise, my stay was very comfortable. The room was large, there was a functional kitchenette. Overall it was a great place to spend the night after a day of wine tasting.
google avatar

Tricia H.

Yelp
I knew nothing about Santa Rosa nor this motel so I went off the guest reviews that were on their website. From the moment we arrived, I was so impressed with the friendliness of their staff, their response time if we needed anything, and the complimentary breakfast as well as the accommodations. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Everyone we encountered in regards to staff was warm and wonderful. Truly a pleasant experience for the price. I would highly recommend staying here!
google avatar

Dusty S.

Yelp
This place was amazing! The man at the front desk was so friendly and kind! It was so laid back and relaxing. Our room was awesome and we slept so great. I was apprehensive at first because we'd never stayed here before but honestly it was impressive and we wished we had been able to stay there longer! If we are ever through again we will definitely stay here again!

Annie S.

Yelp
Wanted to find a unique but affordable place and this was perfect. Super cute decor, friendly and invested manager, simple but quality breakfast - exactly what we like. Needed a one-nighter getaway with my husband and it was a perfect combo with the park and the lovely restaurant (The Spinster Sisters) down the block. Very inviting front office and lounge. Very clean. Thanks for keeping the prices affordable for us regular working folks out there looking for a break away from the craze in Sonoma County!

Yelp
Such a great place. Beautiful grounds with really cool mid century style. Super friendly staff and walking distance to all the great stuff in Santa Rosa. We had a great dinner at Ca'bianca and would recommend for sure.Didn't try their restaurant spinster sisters but we will next time for sure! It looked really nice and the menu looked amazing. We have lived in sf for 25 yrs and never spent much time in Santa Rosa. Our Astro experience has made us really enjoy this town. We look forward to staying here again. It's the perfect weekend getaway for wine tasting and enjoying santa rosa!

Yelp
I stayed back on July 4th. I had the best experience there. Rochelle Orozco gave really great customer service and has a real down to earth personality. I will definitely stay there again when I visit my brother. Thank you Rochelle for your kindness.

Hollee D.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at The Astro! They were accommodating of us checking in early & were very sweet overall. It's a cute motel with neat art. A small breakfast is offered in the morning. Interesting little knick knacks are in the vending machine near the lounge/food area. Not a ton of amenities, but that's okay for a small motel.

Eric A.

Yelp
Travel a lot for business and always looking to book a room in hotels that are family owned and interesting....and affordable. Boutiques skew expensive but this small hotel in Wine County - an hour from the Golden Gate - is in the sweet spot: affordable, stylish & comfortable...rarely have I stayed in a room with so much art and design. And I'm told each room is unique. The rooms are super comfortable - all bedding is by Casper (I peeked) - and the finishes include handmade sinks and super cool tile. The public spaces within the hotel are equally fun & interesting...a veritable orchard was planted by new ownership when they renovated the hotel five years ago and it is possible to eat fruit right off the tree (mandarin oranges during my recent stay). The Astro is my new go to hotel for trips to Sonoma County & Wine Country: business or pleasure.

Mary L.

Yelp
What a gem! The Astro is now my "must stay" place when in Santa Rosa. The rooms are quiet, clean and nicely decorated. The Casper bed was surprisingly comfortable! The courtyard is a peaceful retreat from the noise and chaos. The staff was awesome, a special shout out to Bob who helped me when my arrival time changed and who took the time to tell me a bit about the history of The Astro.

Yelp
It isn't just nostalgia, it was art, it was history, it was a little slice of the 1960's... The Astro in Santa Rosa, California. A RETRO REMODEL by the owners of famous restaurant, The Spinster Sisters... Every detail was thought of. Thanks to the whole Astro team, my stay was delightful. Built in 1963 in the heyday of the American motor lodge, The Astro was ambitiously remodeled with original mid-century modern furnishings, a lush edible garden, and a passion for Sonoma County's limitless offerings. Sooo cute. Now, thanks to a thoughtful and ambitious remodel carried out by area artists and artisans, it stands brightly in the geographic center of a world class wine, beer, wedding and cycling destination that only recently endured devastating fires right in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa. In the City.

Yelp
Over priced hipster joint... concrete floors!?! Fridge full of items you're trying to sell me!?! Scratchy towels and no ability make coffee in your room! For almost $300 a night I'd rather stay at a shady super8

Yelp
I would gladly give this awesome motel 20 stars if I could! From the moment I walked into confirm my reservation and check in to the minute I left this morning I was astounded and pleasantly surprised at every turn nothing was left untouched every little detail was handled on this beautifully done renovation of a period 60s Howard Johnson type motor lodge that is just so well done staff was so welcoming I felt like it was it was a time warp for me because I was born in the late '50s so I lived in the '60s and it was a real flashback Right down to the donut and hot chocolate offered during the afternoon hours! These guys know how to run a hotel and they also know how to run a restaurant but the hotel I can't wait to go back and stay there again and I'm local to the area so I might just treat myself to another night out even the period correct plumbing fixtures like this beautiful almond colored Kohler 6 ft long bathtub it was a very relaxing evening and I look forward to many more Great job guys keep up the good work!

Yelp
This is actually a very nice hotel. It has that old 70's or feel ,but with somewhat a modern update. Everything thing worked fine in the room, shower was water ran hot instantly, The beds are comfortable, the room has a firdge for your drinks you buy outside the building (very convenient) and the staff are very nice. The only big negative to this place is the parking, but I do recommend coming back here again.

Yelp
Retro fun! Staff was great -attentive, friendly, responsive. There is a sense of community. Nice central court (outside) with art and story. A breakfast bar that serves evening cocktails at a reasonable price. Morning features homemade granola! Bed was dreamy (pillows so puffy!). No problems with parking. We loved it!! We will go back. Dog friendly (with fee) and a great park Next door for walking.

Yelp
Can i give 0 stars? This place was terrible. They called us at 9pm after they booked us in and told us that we had booked 2 rooms (we had already checked in to our 1 room). They were rude and disrespectful. We were at a wedding and they refused to talk about it with us in the morning. So disrespectful. No idea how many rooms we'll end up getting charged for. Fire alarm went off for 20 minutes at 2am.
