My brother and I stayed at Asu Camp for 10 amazing days. We were in the water every day with very few other people. At one point I held off on paddling out because - with 4 people already out - I'd decided that it was too crowded.
Every day Earl steered us towards the appropriate spot given the wind, swell direction, and size. Earl, Samantha, and Jhoni are great to surf with, super encouraging, and always happy to give helpful advice about the best takeoff spot and lineups.
It was the third time back for one of the guests we overlapped with and the fifth for another (the second time this year!). It's not only the consistent and uncrowded surf that keeps people coming back, the people are really special too. Everyone's up for a laugh, laid back, and super friendly. The meals aren't too shabby either; the food's great, there's lots of it, and the dishes always vary. If Earl is ever over living the blessed life on Asu (I doubt he will be) he should open a restaurant and hotel.
The place is family friendly. We were there during the school holidays and there were a bunch of young local kids around. The dogs are friendly, the cats too (despite being rather vocal about their opinions), the hermit crabs endlessly busy, there are tons of tide pools (bring reef booties!), and the island is - of course - encircled by a beach.
The sunsets aren't bad either.
