This place is very good value for money. The rooms were comfortable, quiet, clean, warm, and had kitchenette essentials. The bed was really really comfortable. I also found t the staff/owners(?) really friendly and helpful. This has been a last minute booking for us as we were unexpectedly having to stay in Dunedin due to a hospital admission, and getting the room was very easy We may have to be back and this is where we'll be staying in future.

Having stayed here for work back in 2011 I expected the same standard. Not so unfortunately.||I rang specifically asking for an access unit for elderly family staying with me. On arrival the women led me to stairs. I stopped her and said we need a ground unit. We were the led to unit 17. ||The layout was great but it's easy to see that the place had become run down. Mould on the net curtains and the back of the curtains and black mould on the roof of the bathroom.||The shower was not an access shower as it wasn't wet floor. Thankfully I was the only one needing a shower but the drains must be blocked as water pooled at my feet.||The bedroom smoke alarm was broken which was quite alarming given even landlords have to have working alarms in each room.||One of the bed spreads was ripped. The floor needs a good professional wash and had stains. ||Being on the side of the motel that sees no sun I would not recommend unit 17 in the Winter. It was exceptionally cold as we entered because all the windows were open. ||If you run out of anything they make the guest go to the office to replenish supplies.||Good points: Comfortable beds. Good heat pump when cranked up. Whilst very tired it was fine for overnight. The bedroom heater blew cold air, luckily the heat pump was able to heat both rooms sufficiently.||Overall, an average stay and I guess price dictates as it was cheap compared to others.

Room was spacious and cheaper than most other accomodations, but the toilet door didn't shut properly and Wifi was horrible. Ended up using data for most of my stay. Kind of nonexistent service. (You have to call them otherwise there's no room service) Location is pretty good within walking distance to city centre.

First time staying here, and was so happy with our stay. Two bedroom apartment was perfect for our stay, plenty of room to relax. Location is great, easy walk to Forsyth Barr through the University and close to lots of food options.

The place was in darkness when we arrived. The office was very smelly like cigarettes. The receptionist wasnt overly friendly. Our room was freezing cold as the windows were still open when we arrived. The room was musty smelling and very dimly lit. The chairs around the table have seen better days and were very uncomfortable. The only other place to sit was on the bed. The room must have been repainted recently and there was painters tape still hanging off the walls. There was also no fire alarm as someone had removed it. This building does not reach basic standards and im sure they would be shut down if the fire authorities knew about the lack of alarms. I wouldn't rush back.

I wanted to like this venue. I really did. Our room was very clean and tidy. The staff were lovely and the location is great with good proximity to town. That should have been the end of this review, but for some glaring issues. |As someone who worked in hotel/motels as a cleaner for a time in my youth, there were a few industry standards missing in action and a lack of general care that the average traveler expects when spending their hard earned dollar. |For context our booking was a last minute one to attend my mother in law’s funeral in Dunedin. |Signs of overdue maintenance in the room were visible in parts of the main room and ceiling. These weren’t a deal breaker however. |The toilet in our room struggled to flush properly. Not a good start. |While my teenagers appear to have scored the lottery in their bed choices, the bed I slept in, was not good at all. I found it uncomfortable, lumpy and probably past its used by date. |On our first morning we had to be out early for the tangi. It wasn’t until everyone went to shower there was only two towels for four people. On its own not a problem, but no one was in the office when they were meant to be. We couldn’t afford to wait too long meaning half of us didn’t get a shower before the funeral. |While it’s common not to fully service a room every day on a multiple night stay, it is common to restock items like milk, tea, toilet paper. Don’t expect this at Regal Court. You will have to go to the office for refills of everything including a walk of shame with toilet paper across the car park. |The outdoor furniture at the front of our unit had seen better days and would have been better not being there at all. Our courtyard and indeed the gardens, in general needed weeding badly. |My partner found the plant pot on an outdoor table with soggy cigarette butts still in it, the most revolting thing of all. |The flaws in this property send a message to the customer that really the owners don’t care. Why then, would the customer care to stay there? |We won’t be back. The sad thing is that for a tiny bit more effort my review would have been massively different.

We got the ‘very special room “ When entering the smell of fish was overwhelming and endured the whole weekend even with all windows open in winter! We got $20 discount and 4 cans of coke😂 rooms are old and dirty lights are broken, heater is broken and illegally positioned close to the ceiling above the door. The couch must have been found in the roadside. Do yourself a favour and sleep rough.

Disgustingly dirty, run down, noisy. Would not recommend. We cut our stay short because of the grime and rundown rooms, mismatched furniture and lifting carpet, peeling paint and black mould shows they spend no money of bringing this motel up to a 4star rating it apparently is.
