Atago Shrine

One of my favorite shrines to visit in Fukuoka! Nestled on top of a hill, it provides a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city by providing you time to relax and reset your mind. The main highlight was the beautiful panoramic view of the ocean with the buildings below surrounding the coast. You could also get some regular and limited edition goshuin here as well. Overall, highly recommend spending some time here to soak in the peace and tranquility with an epic view of the ocean and breather in the fresh air without being overwhelmed by tourists!

You can enjoy beautiful view of Fukuoka. They have lots kind of 'omikuji'! there's access for an elevator if someone need it.

It's about 200 steps lead to the temple. Torii gates were under reconstruction last Saturday, so no chances to visit. But now it's obviously have refreshed torii gates. Nice city view. Some remains of the old temple or something on the top.

Great views over the city and on good day you can make really nice photos. We had plenty of time in Fukuoka and visited this shrine twice to make some photos and to enjoy the scenenry. This is one of Japan's most potent deities is the fire deity, who lives on mountains, they serve as the residents' guardians as well as the cities' protectors. One of Japan's three principal shrines is called Atago Shrine.Tokyo and Iwana are where the other two are situated, the Washio Shrine was its previous name. This shrine was constructed in the seventeenth century.

Definitely a good lookout spot to Fukuoka city. Required a little hike up a small hill. Go down at Muromi station. There are some crane nests along the walk on the tree top. Fantastic view as the reward.

Most beautiful and oldest shrine in Fukuoka. The souvenir shop has many omamori and lucky amulets. Very quiet, peaceful, and the view is amazing.

Best view up hill on Fukuoka from this shrine! A must see ! The view on Fukuoka from this shrine is simply amazing. The shrine itself is ok, it looked in renovation or something. I really enjoy the view there and I think it's the best view on Fukuoka, you can see almost everywhere from up there. I don't know if actually many tourists know this place, by its worth it for the view into my opinion. To reach this shrine up the hill, exit at subway station Muromi.
