Atalay's Kebab Van | Thame

I visited them for the first time last weekend. Ordered large portion of mix grill, chicken wrap, and chicken burger. The taste is really really and really good. Food is 10/10. Service: They are busy I understand but average serving time for take away is 45 mins. I had to wait more than this for the mentioned order. They only take cash, no card payments which is awkward but again within a walking distance of 200 steps you find 2 Cash Machines/ ATM. I asked the order taker if the any sides like portion of chips comes with the order or do I have to order separate. He said there is salad and some chips on side but We were provided none. Considering the prices are without any sides, they are quite expensive. Overall attitude of staff was very decent though. Dining experience, well it's only take away, the van is parked in a car park which has plenty of free parking for 3 hours after 6 pm and you can easily park and enjoy eating in your car or take the food home. The packaging does not keep food hot so taking home is worth only if you live locally in Thame. And Yes, they have 5 rating for cleanliness which is true, they are super clean. I would recommend them for taste experience.

The food was good, but the order was completely mishandled—two out of the five items were incorrect, and we didn’t receive what we asked for. The place gets very busy between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Had to wait about 45 minutes, they do lots of online orders. It's cash-only, but parking is convenient since it's located in a car park. On the bright side, the staff are friendly and welcoming.

I probably get to Atalay's a couple of times a year, and it never disappoints. Just walked 15 mins in 0 degrees to get a lamb and chicken kebab, and it was SO worth it. So much flavour, always friendly and knowledgeable staff, and I'm just left thinking "Why don't I go more often?".

Sadly they have transferred ownership and it’s just not the same, it’s still an ok kebab by kebab van standards but it’s a 2am soak up the booze job now not a dedicated evening meal in my opinion. Couple of pointers from what the old team used to do 1. Put the pitta or wrap on the lamb spit so it soaks up the juices and then toast on the flame (you didnt have the lamb cooking, so that’s the first issue…) as both the wrap and pitta where fresh out of the bag and doughy (never had this issue before). 2. Chop the top of the chilli’s off when requested, not ideal to have them in the wrap as you have to pull them out and rip off which is hard when eating on the go. 3. People are fine to wait for these kebabs when good quality so you can afford to cook the lamb fresh - it was out of the storage section clearly and had lost all flavour. Hope they can salvage it as I’ve been taking people here for years, but if food review club came back it wouldn’t get close to the 9.8 it got a few years back.

Ordered here for the first time a few weeks ago on a Tuesday and it was amazing. Ordered last night (Friday night) walked up with no pre order and it took around 35/40mins. The lamb was very different this time, it was so dry and not fresh. The pitta probably had more moisture to it than the lamb. Unfortunately it’s put me off.

The food itself is really really tasty and the queue was long for all the right reasons. The crew working hard to smash out the orders created a good atmosphere. The only reason I am giving this place a 4 is because of the size of a large mixed kebab. It is simply to small for £12+ please see photo.

Simple Menu but the quality is awesome. I travel from West London couple of times a week with friends and family, and do takeaways for work colleagues.. we all love quality of their food. I do take Doner Meat home and create my own version of Doner Meat Masala and it tastes so good So yummy looking like a wow..🤩 Customer Service absolutely fantastic and so polite. I am their regular customer. Thank you Atalay for feeding us. One little suggestion if you could add Gluten Free wrap that will be awesome for us. See you shortly Harry.

We've always loved Atalay but I stopped eating out/getting takeaway after I became gluten intolerant. When we found out they offer gluten free food I was over the moon! We've had it twice since and it's even more heavenly than I remember! The customer service is excellent and the food is phenomenal! I highly recommend.
