4 Chefs and Food Writers to Host France and Spain Tour - AFAR
"Participants will attend a workshop at L’ Atelier du Piment in Espelette, France, to learn about the history of the iconic red pepper that’s cultivated and grown in the French Basque region. The pepper is smoky and sweet, with a hint of heat." - Devorah Lev-Tov
We were hoping to take the tour, but didn't see any information on it when we arrived. However, we were happy to shop at the store. They carry a wide selection of products with piment and/or cherries, which we wanted to get. The chocolate chip cookies with piment are dangerously good. It's definitely a great place to pick up souvenirs from Espelette.

A definite must visit stop if you are in Espelette. For a free tour that we just spontaneously joined, we were pleasantly surprised by the length, depth and generosity of the tour from the pepper fields to the processing area and then finally to the degustation which was a 6 round tasting of espelette infused gelees, confits, rillete, hot sauce, chocolate and even an apertivo to wrap up. Great quality shop to get the items you enjoyed after :)

Very popular/touristic place to visit. Tour is about 30 minutes where the production and processing of the pepper is explained. Finishes with a tasting.
