Atelier Esthetique Institute of Esthetics

I had to withdraw from this esthetician school due to the ongoing lack of structure, communication, and support. One of the biggest issues was with my teacher; I emailed her multiple times regarding coursework and class concerns and never received a response. Before leaving for a two-week vacation, I informed both my teacher (Ms. Lakeisha) and my advisor (Ms. Regina) so I could stay on track while I was away and neither of them raised an issue. However, despite my efforts, I never received the coursework I needed. When I brought this up to the head advisor, Mr. Christmas, instead of acknowledging the lack of communication and timely support from my teacher, he flipped the situation back on me and made it seem like the problem was my attendance. I was confused on why he wasn’t aware of my situation if I communicated it already to Ms.Lakeisha and Ms. Regina. Clearly their team as a whole struggles with communication. I came in motivated and serious about my education but the lack of guidance, accountability, and support made it impossible to succeed. I stayed proactive, reached out multiple times and tried to stay on top of everything but the school did not give me what I needed as a student. For the cost, I expected professionalism and clear communication but instead, I often felt dismissed and left without direction. Ultimately, I had to withdraw because the environment made it too difficult to succeed and I don’t want other future students to go through the same discouraging experience.

- FULL AND HONEST REVIEW BY A STUDENT. This School has the best instructors in the city, they are very dedicated to the success of their students and are very knowledgeable. Mr. Christmas is an amazing person, who is very helpful and genuinely cares about students, he has helped me so much and honestly I just cannot thank him enough for everything he’s done for me. Ms. Kyra is a fantastic instructor and she’s the best person to go to if you ever need help academically with your credits or hours, she’s the ray of sunshine whenever you need it most. Mrs. Ann is the Superwoman of State-board exams, I personally believe that she is very proud of her work because of the way it unquestionably makes her students succeed. Ms. Karen is an incredible theory teacher who makes her classes very fun and enjoyable, and everyone loves her, every class is devastated when it’s time to say goodbye. Ms. Yvette is not praised enough for her direct honesty and dedication to correcting your mistakes, her classes prepare you to be an Esthetician that is fit to work in an luxurious and high-end setting, her advice elevates your work to perfection and it teaches you professionalism. Ms. Rasshaun is the sweetheart, everyone’s bestfriend, she taught me how to be gentle and how to speak with clients using the fabulous “spa voice”, in her classes my skills were greatly advancing because she gave my class as much time as we needed to fully complete our facials, using as many machines as we wanted too with her help and instruction that was always there when it was required. — Today I am employed, I love what I do, and this school has truly prepared me for success and for me to live the life of my dreams.

I am happy I chose to attend Atelier Esthetique School. Everyone there wants to see the students succeed. I am part of the 2021 Weekend class and was blessed to be in the presence of awesome ladies. The instructors will stress the term teamwork which became more evident as the weeks went by. Attending the school during Covid was difficult but the school definitely followed all the safety guidelines. I have to say a special thank you to my Front Desk personnel - James “the best”, Crystal 🥰, Lia….thank you for always making me feel I Mattered! (All of them can remember everyone’s name right now🥴) The teachers - Ms G, Ms. Lakweisha, Taecher Leo, Mr. Landon ….my coffee lady Ms Elizabeth … Ms Tessy Kindness….Ms Regina… if patience was a person… I know I’m probably forgetting a few ! Mr Christmas for never giving up on me even when I was hobbling thru the classrooms🤣 The advanced courses provided at the school are informative and thorough .. yes some may say costly, but you can’t actually learn via zoom. There’s much more I can say, but I’ll end it with this…on our last day . …Mr. Christmas, the director, put out a beautiful spread for my class. There’s a lot the Instructors do that show how they go above and beyond. So yes I recommend anyone to go here but remember you must put in the work!!! -Glenda Wajer Weekend Class of 21

Well worth it! I graduated in January of 2025 and I can say that the "military of Esthetics Schools" is real. If you are ready for discipline and willing to learn from professionals that have years of experience in the industry, and you're open to learning various ways that professionals carve a spot for themselves on the market, this is the school for you. Only room for excellence!! Side note: I went to a nail salon in Astoria and the technician knew that I was from Atelier when I mentioned I do facials. She said my appearance, my simple polish free nails, and my clean appearance gave me away. The fact that she could tell blew me away! Atelier has a great reputation out there!

Attending Atelier Esthetique is an incredible experience! The instructors are highly knowledgeable, supportive, and truly passionate about helping students succeed. The curriculum is well-structured, covering everything from skincare fundamentals to advanced treatments, and there’s plenty of hands-on training to build confidence and skill. The school also provides excellent guidance on business development and state board preparation. I feel completely prepared for my career as an esthetician thanks to their dedication to education and professionalism. Highly recommend this school to anyone serious about excelling in the beauty industry!

I can’t stress this school enough! 12/10 ! I love everyone in this school! Mr Christmas is the best the whole receptionist! I had to do 600 hour's here even though I already did a complete program in CT. It was the same as what I studied but I had to get licensed so it's fine, it was not that expensive but it was a long time ago. I think it would be excellent to do a full course here. I only gave 4 Stars due to the instructor. She was very cynical and unprofessional. I was not surprised when she was not there anymore for violating policy. It was very obvious who she favored and she definitely didn't care for me. Of course she wanted to do my facials every 2 weeks at her house. The one thing I don't have is my certificate, it's gone and after all the hours I would like to have it. Overall I think it would be a excellent curriculum. I'm sure they have the most esteemed instructors now. Facility is clean, nice up to date.

This is the best school ever. I learned a lot from all the teachers. My favorite teachers was Ms.Yvette , Ms.Ciera , Ms.Ederlin , Ms.Ann. I had a lot of fun being here. My class was the best. I will be attending the masters program in july .

Annoyance calls multiple times a day from this number. I've asked to be taken off the call list several times. They leave weird psychotic sounding messages. When I called back again today, to ask them to stop calling, the rep smugly said "we're allowed to call you because you asked about our school". It's like they enjoy harassing people. I did leave my contact info back in MAY, spoke with someone at the school, and it sounded like a scam, so I said I wasn't interested. Then after they called me 5 times in one day, I asked to be taken off the call list. The calls have continued for over five months now. At what point does it become unlikely that you're going to change someone's mind about attending their school? After the 3rd call? The 20th call? I blocked their number but the phone carrier could not block them leaving me creepy voice mails. I'm guessing that any experience as a student at the school will be similar.

A friend of mine is attending school here to become an esthetician, she needed people for facials and shoulder neck massages. I had a relaxing time, I entered the building filled out the paperwork and placed my upper attire in a basket along with my other belongings. Very quiet with soothing music playing in the background. The massage and massage was so good I fell asleep. My skin had this glow and she added something to my lips that made my lips baby soft. The only downside is parking in this area.

My wife is studying there. They are very organized and super helpful. The teachers are very nice!

For several months I was contemplating on taking a waxing course so I can have an extra certification under my belt and also learn something I can use on myself and others. After researching several schools and prices I decided to enroll in this school even thou I would have to travel from Nassau County I said "What the heck". Even thou the Waxing class was pricey I don"t regret it. This has nothing to do with the reviews of this school, but to the amazing teacher I had Ms. Nastassia. Only real reason for writing this review is to give credit where credit is given. For the past couple of months I have learned not just how to wax a whole body, but have memorized every layer of the skin and its functions without skipping a beat. Ms. N took the time to explain with the textbook and her power points the necessity of learning them, not just to pass our state test but to have knowledge that we can share with our future clients. She taught us how to properly wax our client without ripping the skin and also the need to use the proper customer service verbiage so our clients not just come back and refer others but also feel comfortable with their services. Ms. N took the time to explain every detail on how to properly display our equipment and why we need to take our training serious. She at no time was a "Yea yea" teacher brushing us off if she didn't want to be bothered with our question. Ms. N test challenged what you learned but were also fair. So if your looking for a teacher that will take the time to teach you what you need to learn I assure you that in this school you will find the right one, take any of her courses and she will guide you in the right direction. Good Luck to the current students that are in her other class, all are very fortunate on having such a dedicated teacher. In conclusion I would like to thank this school for having a great teacher with them that takes her teaching serious and made sure we graduated with the necessary tools to pass our state exam. I had an appointment for an orientation they were extremely rude weren't helpful and acted like they had better things to do than show me around !!! So i walked out!!! the place is a complete disaster everything's unorganized and no one seems to know what they. are doing . all of the classrooms are completely a mess and an environment that no one can learn in ! Don't waste your time or your money they're just making money off of this location being in the city there's no reason to go to this place it's pretty obvious the second you walk in. This Was the most unprofessional rude experience I have ever dealt with in this kind of situation. They didn't even get my name when I told them I had an appointment because they said they were busy and told me that they had better things to do and that they would be with me later. I had an appointment and went out of my way and rescheduled my entire day to show up as i live two hours away . they didn't even want to talk to me when I walked in. I walked out and they didn't even bother to call me to see where I was or ask why I had left !!!! Although they didn't know it was me because they didn't even ask. Because they made it clear they had better things to do then give me my tour !! don't waste your time on this place everybody is extremely unprofessional rude and just out to get your money but obviously they didn't want mine very bad Lol dont waste your time!!!!! You should be ashamed !!!! I will be Posting this everywhere I can possibly post this including the Better Business Bureau Facebook Twitter and everywhere else I can review !!!you do not deserve any business !!!!

Atelier Esthetique is the best school there is for not only your Esthetics License and advanced courses to further your education, but career grooming, professionalism, and guest etiquette training. I have become extremely successful in the beauty industry and would not be where I am today with out the education and training I received at Atelier. I work for an Iconic Beauty Brand in the industry and whenever interviewing Estheticians an Atelier graduate really stands out from all the rest. A lot of our top level estheticians are Atelier graduates, their discipline is like no other. Do not waste your money here. The teachers and stuff are awful no support was given and teachers and staff favored certain students. Ms Ann gave Hours to a student in exchange for a Microdermabrasion session, everytime the student came late she will fill in the missing hours.. lets not mention the bed bug situation.. Ms Hanson claimed she took care of the issue but days after we were docked hours and ordered to return to school where the bugs were STILL infested. Ms Elise is racist

This school was ridiculous. I do not recommend it to anyone even with the incentive that they offered us to recommend others. The staff is rude and irresponsible. My full social security number was sent to the wrong address with all my personal information on it. The graduation ceremony was held in a filthy file room, it was the most embarrassing event that my family had ever witnessed including a home made cake and off brand soda served as refreshments. The staff also used the same washer designated for face towels only for their personal laundry as underwear and clothes were often found in there, extremely unsanitary. So many of us dreaded the conditions we were put in.

I was very skeptical in attending Atelier because of all the negative reviews but, I must say my experience with everyone especially with REGINA was excellent. Everyone is very knowledgeable, professional, warm hearted individuals. Ms. Karen is lovely and I'm extremely happy with my decision . Don't allow all the negativity influence your decision I sure didn't and I'm happy with my decision.

After working as a nurse for several years in a hospital, and then going through a tragic event of losing my husband to cancer..I needed a game changer and fast. I found atelier online and said...yes this is it! I can still be medical but use it in another way....esthetics!!!! After meeting with Regina, and getting s tour of the school, I immediately signed up for the fast track course. And after 4 months of full time schooling, I graduated and never felt so happy working in such a great industry. Atelier has excellent teachers who prepare you so well for your future career. Miss Kyra, Miss J, Miss Elise, Francisco, Miss Tracy....Miss Ann, Miss Angie and miss Tessy.......amazing....thanks to them I'm building my career in medical aesthetics and pursuing a career where I am truly learning something new everyday, and helping people in a different way!....give this school a chance if you're interested in the world of esthetics!! Attending Atelier Esthetique has been one of the best choices I have made for myself. As a Licensed Massage Therapist and Cosmetologist, I always knew that I wanted to include a secondary focus on Skin Care as a part of my repertoire. My training in Cosmetology did not give me the set of skills I needed to truly stand out. I was blessed with the opportunity to attend Atelier and receive Federal Aid. I have developed some life-long connections through the program and am grateful to all of the wonderful staff who helped our class excel. I have been very successful so far in the industry and have thoroughly satisfied and impressed many clients and business owners who have never experienced the type of exclusive European Facial that Atelier trains to its students. I would recommend the Institute to anyone considering furthering themselves through the incredible world of Esthetics, you absolutely will not regret it!

this place is a goddamn mess. i've been dying to write a review for a while (graduated months ago) i'd love to start my review by saying this place was infested with bed bugs for some time, students were getting bit all over and one student even ended up bringing bed bugs to her home and when she complained they told her she could have gotten bed bugs anywhere else there's no proof that the school she goes to 5days a week gave them to her. also be prepared for favoritism (ms elise), i wasn't allowed to take the Brazilian wax course because another student was going to be my model even though two other students taking that course had other students as models and there was no problem for them to take the course. don't take the extra course by the way, wherever you decide to work they will teach you how to do whatever course they tell you that you need to know, every place has different machines so even if you know how to do it you will still get trained by your boss on how to use their machine. i also want to mention that i paid for the chemical peel course and a few days before i changed my mind and asked for a refund and they told me i can't get a refund because i already took up a seat and they can't replace it now which i totally would understand if the course was booked up but with 5 extra seats remaining it's not like i was taking up a seat from someone who wanted to take the course but wasn't able to because it was booked but i threw a fit of course because i was not going to lose $400 to learn how to put something on a face and 5mins after take it off with toner, they offered to give me half back but i made sure i got my full 400 back. oh and regina also decided to tell me that she hopes when i own a business someone does that to me pays for something and demands a refund and she hopes it ruins my business and then she proceeds to say "you could lie all you want but there is a higher being watching" while pointing up to the ceiling, and rolling her eyes at me every time she saw me after that. also be prepared to waste a few thousand on the worst education when they're just going to make you clean the place and do laundry. who the F pays for a school and the teachers make them do the school laundry??? and the graduation omg this was the most embarrassing thing i have ever been to, very very stupid of my to invite my sisters and boyfriend to this humiliating event which was thrown in one of the two dirty classrooms with probably the smallest cake you've ever seen (could serve about 6 people) even though about 20 students graduated and all brought family members. Atelier Esthetique does not care about their students!! maybe you if you wiggle a $20 bill in front of their face when you need to ask a question they'll care to answer it without attitude because all they care about is your money!!! this place is disgusting it is a joke, ms hanson should truly be ashamed that she calls this place a school and at the way she treats students, and regina should be ashamed for being so stuck up, childish and FAKE do not believe a word she says because something is always happening in this school for their words to never be true and ms elise is just disgusting, she subbed my class once and didn't teach us a god damn thing she just talked about herself the whole day as if anyone is paying to hear about her life and when we complained about it to our teacher she got so butt hurt that the next time she subbed the class she mentioned that we told she didn't teach and she didn't speak a single word again after that she just played the slide shows, - she also talked a lot about a student who graduated prior to me because i was going to get trained for eyelash extension by that student which thank you elise for telling me she can't certify me but once i asked other teachers and ms hanson to confirm that i shouldn't waste my money to get trained by someone who can't train me i decided to call that student to let her know what happened and why i'm not going to her to get trained anymore and she ended up calling the school and complained about ms elise trying to ruin her business so i guess after that ms elise hated me so no wonder she didn't allow me to take her brazilian course even tho she allowed her own students take it with other students as models. save your money go somewhere else, i sure wish i did.

One of the best advance courses you could take at Atelier Esthetique would be Mrs. J's Advanced Chemical Peel class. Mrs. J is highly knowledgeable and is very diligent and attentive towards her students. She is a phenomenal teacher who creates a fun and safe environment that enables her students to give effective peels which leaves each student walking out feeling confident. Not only did I get a great class but I also received a fantastic peel! I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning about chemical peels.

Don't come here for a treatment. I signed up for eyelash extensions and received a confirmation text from a welcoming person with directions on how to get upstairs and everything, and was told to please not be late. I waited FORTY FIVE minutes before finally leaving. I asked several times how much longer the wait would be and I was told 5 more minutes each time. At this particular class, there were about 20 people waiting for the service and only about 10 technicians so I assume the overbooked (although they hadn't taken ANYONE before I finally left). I understand it is a free service, but it is extremely rude and unprofessional to make the models wait more than 15 minutes. The techs were being trained from what I could hear right before the class. Why couldn't that be scheduled beforehand? I was extremely annoyed, as you could imagine.

I have just graduated Atelier Esthetique! I relocated from Florida just to attend AE. I wanted the best and I truly feel that I have received it. I paid for my schooling with my own funds and felt confident doing so because I knew I was attending a first rate esthetics program. I also would like to add that the machines used here are top of the line, please research Equipro and Silhouettone facial machines. The staff is top notch with more wisdom that I could have ever imagined receiving. I not only had wonderful instructors, I had mentors. Ms. Hansen is kind and approachable, and a perfect example of what an empowered, strong business woman should be. The only thing these instructors have ever asked for is to please follow directions and show respect for yourself and the others trying to learn around you. Education is a journey and you get out what you put in. I could not recommend any other school other than AE. I have even considered having my 17 year old daughter attend next summer before college.

I recently graduated from full time day program at Atelier Esthetique Institute and I am very happy with my choice to attend this school. The teachers are very patient and supportive and went above and beyond to provide us with the best education going way more than the required curriculum for state board. Ms. Hanson insists on high standards when it comes to behavior, punctuality and appearance from students to prepare them for the workplace. During these 4 months I have always felt supported from everyone on the staff and I feel fully prepared to work.

I attended Atelier Esthetique in 2017 to pursue my dream in becoming a successful esthetician. I knew from day one I was more interested in the advanced certification courses and luckily Atelier has a lot of different options to choose from. The overall 'appearance' may not be out of this world but the knowledge I have gained trumps any over the top building. You need your foundation to be strong and to believe in yourself to succeed and without the teachers I had, I wouldn't have half the knowledge I do today. The teachers are underrated. Ms. S, Ms. J, Ms. Kyra and Ms. Karen are some of the most knowledgeable, helpful, inspiring group of woman with all different specialities and beliefs. They legitimately put their blood, sweat, passion, love and tears into every ounce of their students. They truly make you a better you. In addition, you have Regina and Angie who are always there to help you, guide and teach you and give advice. My experience overall was an amazing journey and I ended up landing my dream job-Regina was just as excited and supportive as my family was! That's what Atelier is, a family unit. You spend 5 days a week, 9-5 with these people who leave a mark on you when you leave. I also deal with some health issues and not once was I ever belittled, treated differently or told I could not succeed. Instead I was fully supported and pushed to be my best in every task I faced. I would highly recommend this school for anyone who's very serious about a challenging but efficient workload, as well as an empowering, successful and a safe environment filled with people who will push you.. or as Ms. S says 'mold you' into the esthetician you NEED to be.
