The Atelier Municipal de Tissage, or Municipal Weaving Workshop, in Lyon is a fascinating place dedicated to the art of weaving and the preservation of traditional textile techniques. This workshop plays an essential role in keeping alive the rich history of Lyon's silk industry, which has been a key part of the city's cultural and economic heritage. At the workshop, visitors can learn about various weaving techniques, the history of textile production, and the tools used in the craft. The facility often offers workshops and classes for individuals of all skill levels, allowing participants to engage hands-on with the art of weaving. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced weaver, you can explore different materials, patterns, and methods under the guidance of skilled instructors. The Atelier Municipal de Tissage also emphasizes the importance of craftsmanship and creativity in the textile arts. By providing a space for education and collaboration, it fosters an appreciation for the intricate work involved in producing high-quality woven textiles. If you're interested in textiles, craft, or the history of weaving, a visit to the Atelier Municipal de Tissage is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in this beautiful art form and learn more about its significance in Lyon's cultural landscape.

A very special and unique experience, worth the tour as the live demo of the machines is not something you see in other museums with static machines not used for years

Really interesting. Three looms for weaving silk and cotton, together with the domestic setting of a worker. The presenter helpfully spoke some English which made the visit much more enjoyable

Very interesting but unfortunately they do not speak English. You can only read s paper explaining the tour because they speak only in French

Best silk trail experience ever! The other place was French only. This was doable with a small kid. Odd hours, but worth figuring out!
