Yelp
We got to A.S. super early (thx jet lag) and took the last indoor table. Recommend getting there before 9am if you don't want to wait The morning plate comes with sourdough, compte cheese, boiled egg, butter & apricot jam. No surprises, tasted exactly how it looks. Danish butter is quite mild so isn't as rich and addictive as French butter Solid pancake but it has the texture of a muffin. Overall, it's a cute spot but doesn't live up to the expectation and I wouldn't wait in line for it. morning plate 135DKK almond pancake 135DKK cappuccino 42DKK

Yelp
The wait is insane. It's popular right now but it's really yummy so try to hang in there. The baked goods are fantastic, with limited options. A traditional breakfast of bread, soft boiled egg, some Jane and cheese is all you need. I don't know that it's any superior to some other similar places but it's good! There are blankets for seating by the door and the light airy decor and design is welcoming and cozy. There aren't many tables but I think that helps make you feel special and a more enjoyable experience.

Yelp
I've avoided going to Atelier September for so long because I heard the queue was unbearable and the service was pretty bad. However, I saw that their Nordhavn branch was relatively empty during weekday morning. I have to say my experience was nothing short of pleasant. Not only was service quite friendly, but their almond pancake (135DKK) was better than I expected. I really enjoyed their famous cream in combination of the pancake, which was crunchy on the outside yet fluffy in the inside. I would say that the blueberry was rather sour, however it's just likely not in season as I noticed the same thing when I got the fruit from grocery stores. I will recommend brunch/breakfast here provided it's not too busy. Vibe of cafe and food presentation were very social media friendly.

Yelp
A great place to stop in for a brunch. Could be a long wait late depending on the time of day. We were seated at a shared table on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered almond pancakes with blueberry topping and a sweet cream and a traditional danish breakfast including soft boiled egg, course salt and bread. The eggs were the best, loved the red chili sauce and chive topping.

Yelp
Oh yes!!! So good... Don't wait until you are hungry to go here, there is a wait. It's delicious. All of it. We loved the cappuccino hot and iced The avocado toast on sourdough with a soft boiled egg on the side , was out of this world... very large portion. I filled us up for hours. We did not mind waiting 20 minutes for a table. It was worth it.... We highly recommend you go and go again if you can.

Yelp
This brunch spot is super cute and lives up to the hype. The menu is small but it has cool and thoughtful items. We got the pancakes and the green omelet. They both looked super aesthetic and were very flavorful. We went on a weekday so it wasn't super packed and we were able to snag seats.

Yelp
I was exited to try after hearing so many good things. We came at 2:30 on a Tuesday, and it was not crowded. Because there were not many people the staff seems very disinterested in taking our order and were talking amongst themselves. When food was being prepared, I watched one of the workers lick his finger after it had butter on it and continue working. We ordered the almond pancakes, a piece of sourdough, grapefruit, avocado toast, and a matcha. Everything tasted very fresh, but the only really special thing was the blueberry compote. Everything else was fine but expensive for what it was. We spent over 50 USD on the items in the picture. The bathrooms were also not pleasant. Wanted to love this place, but was unfortunately overall disappointed

Yelp
ngl went purely so i could witness this infamous mound of butter live... just look at her how glorious literal line to get in, v pricey but cph be like that

Yelp
Great place to catch the Copenhagen marathon pass by. The pancakes were too sweet for me, next time side sick to a savory breakfast.

Yelp
If you enjoy your surroundings as much as your breakfast, hop into Atelier September. Inside an old gallery, the space is beautiful with a showroom in the back. In the front, is a medium-sized dining room with window seating and a few tables. Out front are a few sidewalk tables. My friend and I went in October on a Wednesday when they first opened at 7:30 a.m. There was already a line, but we were able to get two seats at a long community table to enjoy our lattes and breakfast. My avocado toast was beautiful and tasted good. My friend enjoyed his yogurt with zucchini jam (more like pickled thin stripes of zucchini). Despite the good experience, the food wasn't life-changing. Since many friends and reviews alluded to that, we left a little disappointed. It was solid food and experience, but not life-changing.

Yelp
There aren't various meals. It's wonderful if you're looking for a small breakfast or coffee with some pastries. The workers are very friendly & quick to attend to you when you're waiting outside to be seated. It is small inside so it's better to go by yourself or in a group or 3 or less.

Elle J.

Yelp
Great food but line was very long and would not allow me to change the type of bread for my toast even though I have an allergy to the nuts on the bread. Had to order bread with avocado on the side for my food.

Yelp
This place is an absolute must!!!! The staff are so kind and welcoming. The food is delicious. It is very cozy and beautiful here. So quaint and great.

Yelp
Really cosy, good quality food. Vegetarian. Perfect avocado on rye bread, pancakes with balckcurrant and great wipped butter on sourdough bread. Love that the latte is served in a soup bowl.

Yelp
One of our all time favorite places to eat in Copenhagen. Service is great and the food is out of this world. This is place is not to be missed and we are definitely coming back!
google avatar

Janice C.

Yelp
Infuriatingly good looking Copenhageners hang out here. That should be enough reason for you to come by ;-) The only thing that will distract you from people watching will be the cool space. A wall with wine bottles in the shelf, the large communal midcentury table, open kitchen with vintage pieces. The back seems to be a gallery that sells contemporary furniture and lighting. I dig it. Since it was warm out, I really wanted an iced drink. I love matcha so the iced matcha tea was the perfect choice for me. I like that they serve this as is, without any sweeteners so I can really taste the vibrant vegetal quality of the tea. Their Koppi coffee (noisette style) is served black with a tiny milk amount of milk froth. Delicious. Located on Gothersgade, it's within spitting distance of Kongens Nytorv, Nyhavn and the Magasin. Definitely a hot spot worth visiting if you're in the area.

Yelp
I was sick of my hotel breakfast since they were serving the same exact thing every day, so I popped into Atelier September to change it up. I had a delicious Japanese matcha, the matcha was of the highest quality and made correctly. I also enjoyed the soft boiled egg, rye and cheese. The egg was perfectly runny, the rye was full of texture, spongy and delicious, and the cheese was high quality. This was a nice cozy spot to enjoy a spectacular breakfast in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Favorite classy brunch place for a quick bite by myself. Lots of dishes to try on the menu, all of them have been delicious. The latte comes in the cutest bowl and is one of my favorite in town. The crowd comes in waves so if you pass by and it looks quiet pop in for a snack! FYI no public restroom

Gianluca V.

Yelp
Excellent place for a brunch. Coffee and food are excellent. We had to wait about 10 minutes for getting a table, but once seated the service is quite fast.

Caroline G.

Yelp
The one in Copenhagen is good, but a little bit of a walk from the center (not bad though I didn't mind). The food is good (the sourdough bread is the best i've had) but quite simple. The service is pretty good but don't be afraid to walk in and order you don't need to wait outside for a table! I would say overall it's a good breakfast place maybe a tad overhyped but it won't let you down!

Yelp
Items Selected: Butter Croissant Comte Cheese, Soft Boiled Egg, Rye Bread, Butter Yogurt, Zucchini Jam, Matcha, Granola Located at Gothersgade 30, a few steps up allowing for a privileged vantage of streets below, Atelier September is one of *those* places that everyone who visits Copenhagen talks about even though little about it appears to be noteworthy, a Monday morning breakfast visit just minutes before the arrival of a party of twenty giving a glimpse of why as the menu proves more 'well edited' than 'limited' with each of three items ordered proving worthwhile. An inhabitant of the same street since 1987 and easy to miss though frequently nearby as Gothersgade is a convenient throughway across the city with quick access to Nørreport and Torvehallerne, Café Atelier September was originally opened in the early 90s and although the space still contains an artist's studio and galleries the focus of most visitors is on the Food created by Frederik Bille Brahe. Another quick-service kitchen not unlike Mad & Kaffe, most of the items pre-made or quickly assembled which allows for a meal to be easily completed in less than half-an-hour even though many choose to stick around with Coffee in hand, diners at Café Atelier September are first greeted by the house Dog who will be happy to collect any crumbs as they approach the counter, housemade Rye and Croissants immediately tempting even before one takes a look at the menu lined with items including Eggs, Yogurt and even Avocado Toast. Serving lunch and breakfast daily, a 07h00 opening on Weekdays and later on Weekends with closure each day at 16h00, it was after being told of the large party that a chair was secured at the window before placing an order, the Croissant immediately taken to the seat and pulled apart with layers crackling and crumbs raining down, the interior buttery and soft with arching caverns of lamination. Enjoying Bread and Butter for the second time that morning, the housemade Rye as good as any in town and all the better with Danish Butter so fresh that beads of water came to the surface as it was cut, fans of Comte will be glad to know Atelier September uses wheels aged for greater than 24-months, the crystals not yet forming but the flavor pleasant and nutty just as it was in the Granola atop Cows-Milk Yogurt topped in Sugar-preserved Squash and a light dusting of Matcha powder.

Yelp
Super yummy but in my opinion not worth the hype. The avocado toast wasn't anything out of the ordinary! Ambiance am was very nice though.

Yelp
I really liked this place and could see myself being a regular if I lived in Copenhagen. Their avocado toast is not to be missed and everything else I saw being served around me looked fantastic and made of quality ingredients as well. The atmosphere is nice as was the service. The kitchen area is behind the counter and looks like it was transported directly from a home in the country. The rest of the space feels like part art gallery, part wine rack. It all works, but it is small so just be mindful that you may have to wait for seating to open up. Back to the avocado toast. In addition to avocado, it is comprised of lemon zest, crushed red pepper, fresh chives, sea salt, and olive oil drizzle all on top of some great rye bread. It is so simple, yet so delicious. I love rustic cooking like this. I will definitely be comping back.

Yelp
First off, the service here is incredibly slow but that's because they are understaffed. Second, this place gets packed after 10 am so come before. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast and we were able to be seated immediately but the place got completely full shortly after. You order up front and pay later when you are done. They have an English menu available as well. We ordered the soft boil egg with cheese and bread, avocado toast, zucchini jam and match yogurt, grapefruit with blueberries and granola, and two cafe cremes. The cafe cremes came first and they were HUGE and came in a bowl. Shortly after our food came and everything was beautiful. I really enjoyed the avocado toast because there was so much avocado and the spices that they sprinkle on top were delicious. The zucchini jam and match yogurt was really out of this world. Zucchini jam sounds weird but it was delicious. My boyfriend really enjoyed his egg dish because the bread was delicious but for someone who is French, he found the egg to be slightly overcooked. The grapefruit was extremely sour but the granola was delicious. Paying for the meal took ten minutes since the cashier guy was sooo busy trying to help cook in the open kitchen. It was kind of annoying how we had to wait forever to pay. Our total meal came out to about 450 dkk which is pricy but makes sense for Copenhagen. I will definitely be coming back if I am ever in town!

Yelp
Had a cozy Friday morning breakfast here with my friend. The place was very busy but the baristas were handling everyone's orders with ease. We sat at a communal table and enjoyed coffee, a croissant, porridge, and more. It is a hippy, trendy cafe in the heart of Copenhagen!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the more unique cafes I visited during my time in Copenhagen. The place has a very hipster/simplistic but homey feel to it and the layout is unique with a few common dining tables and a small workspace kitchen in the front. Filled with beautiful locals and serving up rustic breakfasts and lunches in addition to tea, coffee and juices. I opted for the pumpkin soup and was not 100% in love with the flavors (dill?) but loved the homemade rye bread that accompanied it. My friend got the avocado toast which immediately gave me FOMO after I tried it - yum! The windows fog up heavily in the winter giving it a cozy vibe and the place is relatively small so not good for group meet ups. Definitely a place I would return to next time I find myself in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Yum! This is the sweetest little vegetarian spot ever. We arrived just before it opened (on bikes, of course) and saw a small group of people waiting. As we were allowed inside, we all rushed in to grab tables. I started with the fresh citrus juice, which was a v. tart grapefruit juice, and ordered the avocado toast. My sister ordered the same and my dad went for the rye bread with a soft boiled egg and comte cheese. The rye bread was amazing and the avocado toast was beautiful and delicious. I loved the fresh lemon zest and chili sprinkled on top. I have to say that even though our meal was enjoyable, we were lucky to have gotten there early and to put in our order early. The staff is made up of just two ladies, who my sister said just looked like friends cooking casually together. This means that they're both swamped and if you're later on the list, you might not get your food for a while. (And by "a while" I mean 20+ minutes.)

Yelp
This is a very cozy hipster cafe. If you thought the ones in San Francisco or New York were hip, this takes it to a whole new level. Seating space is super tight so you might have to wait for a seat and are definitely going to sit next to people. I got the open faced sandwich and a glass of the house made soda. Both the bread and avocado on the toast were really well made and presented flawlessly. The soda was amazingly good, pulpy and not nearly as sweet as usual, but still refreshing and flavorful.

Yelp
The crème is one of the best coffee i have ever tasted. As for a person dont drink coffee without sugar, i can finish all of it without sugar! So smooth that taste like drinking silks! . Good tasting "te birkes", which is a danish croissant with poppy seeds.(from menu) Also come back the other day just for the coffee. They also got some bakery of the day, and i got the lemon poppy seeds cake. The cream is quit sour but the cake was wonderful. Crème is served in bowl and the bowl is both time beautiful! The staffs are nice and the place is cozy. It is quit a small place but the waiting is gonna be worthy!!

Yelp
Atelier September transcends being labeled as a hipster cafe-it's truly the epitome of "quality over quantity". I had the soft-boiled egg with rye bread and butter, grapefruit & blueberries with granola and a coffee. Everything was flawlessly executed and presented in a cozy Scandi way with accents of Japanese wabi-sabi ceramics. The portion size was delicately satisfying. It was kind of breathtaking how simple yet spot-on it was. You can just tell that there is a lot of thought, intention, consideration and love that is poured into the experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is pretty trendy and hip, and doesn't have a ton of room for seating, but it's worth a visit for some fancy vegetarian fare. I was a little skeptical about this place but i ordered the yogurt with macha and it actually knocked my socks off, was very tasty. I don't think i could re-create it at home so maybe i'll have to come back on my next visit to CPH. I would give it a fifth star if the vibe was a little more down to earth.

Liz P.

Yelp
Cute little hipster place. Food was petite but good - great for a light breakfast. It's a fast casual type of place. You order, find a seat (it can get cozy so get to know your neighbors lol), they bring you food, and you go and pay. And someone is waiting for you to finish so they can take your seat. Staff is super friendly. Plating is adorable - I had my cafe in a bowl. A gramma bowl. Lol.

Yelp
Let me just start by saying that I had high expectations for this place after having seen it featured on several blogs, travel guides, and Instagram feeds. Lucky for me, this cafe was right around the corner from where I was staying, so I managed to make a trip even in the bad weather I was oh so lucky enough to encounter during my short trip to CPH. But in general, the location is pretty awesome -- close to the famous Nyhavn port and the major shopping streets, so it's easy to stop in for breakfast to start your day or to refuel after some sightseeing. I ordered a cappuccino, my friend ordered a pot of Hojicha tea, and we got the avocado toast to share. I wish we were hungry enough to have tried multiple dishes, but the toast itself was totally satisfying (albeit more suitable for a warm day instead of a rainy/snowy one). Everything was served in a manner that was so aesthetically pleasing that you just can't help but smile while you eat. The highlight of this place for me was definitely the decor. The interior is minimalistic and easy on the eyes, and my friend and I were joking that we'd want our future homes to look just like it (I say 'joking' but we were quite serious). We ended up sitting inside for a while even after we finished eating to avoid going back out in the cold, and it was just so cozy! We came in the early afternoon, after the normal lunch hour, but we still had to wait for seats to open up, since the space is preetttyyyy small. But that just goes to show that these guys are doing something right. Also, the menu is relatively pricey, but SO worth the visit!
google avatar

Helen Y.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance, food and service. There's even s beautiful art gallery in the back. Great location too! Highly recommend the granola with grapefruit and blueberries as well as the avocado toast and shakshuka eggs!
google avatar

Mariie V.

Yelp
Highly recommend their avocado toast. The service is a little bit slow but the presentation comes so beautiful that you realized what took them so long. The place us really easy to find in a very centric area of the city so it's perfect to grab breakfast, start your day and go explore the city. I believe that have a fix menu, mainly breakfast and snacks but eventually they have a lunch special. The options are very Scandinavian and the positions are small so it's very light but regardless, very delicious.
google avatar

Belle M.

Yelp
While their avocado toast on rye, the dish that many food bloggers/magazines recommend, was ok, the service left much to be desired. They were more preoccupied hanging out with friends than making our food as we had to wait at least 40 minutes for an avocado toast and toast with egg and asparagus and juices! However, they were apologetic and comped our juices. Quick, efficient service does matter, so I hope the owner takes these reviews seriously and make service also a priority. Note: Although I'm only here for a visit, I'm no stranger to avocado toasts and matcha teas as it is common where I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
google avatar

Xavier A.

Yelp
I must've been rushing because I missed any mention of it being vegetarian. Saw lots of pictures, didn't occur to me that the lack of meat should've been an indicator. It took 30 minutes to get cappuccino, avocado, toast, an egg and cheese. I got here right when they opened and there were only two people ahead of me. It's not as if the food was nasty, it just wasn't worth $40. Much ado...
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
You'll likely come here for the matcha latte and avocado toast, both staples of the millennial Insta feed. And yes, I can confirm, the food is pretty aesthetically pleasing here. However, both were a bit disappointing and super pricey (avotoast was not flavorful; almost 10 USD for the matcha latte !!!). Big points, though, for the ambiance. Atelier September has a gorgeously minimalistic interior, and I could be convinced to spend an afternoon or two here.
google avatar

E.M. W.

Yelp
The food would be worth 5 stars but I took one off for the somewhat rude service that I experienced. The coffee tasted great, I liked the yogurt they served, and my avocado toast was out of this world! The cafe was packed when I was there so I had to wait for a table. I'd recommend going early in the morning to avoid such hassle.
google avatar

Bryan B.

Yelp
The yummiest smørrebrød I had in my few days in København! I'd recommend grabbing a seat along the window looking out onto the street while you eat if there is one available.
google avatar

Kellie E.

Yelp
This place is extremely beautiful. That has to be said, it has great interior decoration, simple and clean and the coffee is really nice. They have a bit of a minimalist concept I think and have teas that arent usually sold, like matcha tea (although for 75kr... bit steep!) They have a little bit of a breakfast/lunch option with avocado toast, fancy yoghurts etc but very small selection (which is part of the charm). The negative thing is that the place is SO small, there's barely anywhere to sit and there is NO bathroom, which I am not entirely sure is a great place. You have to go up really cheap stairs to get in so I don't think it is very child or handicap friendly but if you want to go to a really hipster and beautiful cafe I would suggest going here!
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
Disclaimer: tourist from Seattle Am I being too nice by giving them three star? I would give them a 2.5 if I could. Somewhere...somewhere I read that Atelier September is THE place to get matcha green tea. I don't know if matcha isn't easily accessible to Danish people, but my friend and I were appalled that it cost ten dollars (70 kr) for a cup. I asked the guy if it was a matcha latte and he answered, "No, just matcha. I think, milk ruins it." He made it sound so grand that my friend and I were fools and each ordered one. Fools! It was just like a cup of matcha that I could have blended at home. I really don't mind spending money when traveling if the food is worth it but this was not the case. We then ordered hard boiled eggs and their bread and butter. Our other friend ordered oolong tea but that was a normal price of about 3.50 dollars and she said it was fine. So the eggs and the bread and butter were very lovely and made our experience enjoyable because the place itself is very pretty! The other reviews are right though, you will WAIT for your food. It had a cool hipster but chic environment. You should go, but don't order the matcha unless you it's not accessible to you!

Yelp
As I lived just across the street and my Instagram feed kept popping up with incredibly bloggy pics I felt like checking it out for breakfast. I went two times and both visits I was struck by how bad the service was. First time the staff were too busy hanging out than actually preparing food, even if I was one out of three-four others eating there. Serving juice and a sandwich ten minutes apart??? Second time I went with a friend and the staff seemed incredibly occupied with themselves and unhappy to have us there. It took them 25 minutes to cut two slices of bread accompanied with slices of comté. I had to go ask twice if the food was coming soon as I could see they were too busy giggling behind the counter. Nothing. Food was tasty both times, therefore 2 stars. Never coming back or recommending it to a friend unless I become a famous blogger and get the royal treatment.

Yelp
Good place to slow down and have a coffee and croissant and people watch by the window. Staff is super friendly. And the coffee and croissants are good.

KM I.

Yelp
Copenhagen is known for having amazing options for food as far as organic options and many other options to suit those with specific dietary restrictions. Copenhagen is also known for having very friendly staff in their establishments. AS has neither. Every blogger will rave about their avocado toast, which is quite good, until you look closer and realize there is orange fish roe eggs sprinkled along with the chives. Additionally, I was told the only option for milk was regular cow's milk...I find it astounding that Starbucks, Joe and the Juice, etc. will all have multiple dairy free options, but a trendy cafe like this does not. The gentleman with the darker hair has repeatedly been unpleasant to deal with. From the first time I came here in summer of 2014 to just this past weekend. It is absolutely unacceptable for someone in customer service to convey an image to his customers that they are about as important and welcome as a fly on the wall. I absolutely will not return to AS for these reasons and I implore those of you to not follow what is "famous" and go somewhere where far more attention is put on food and image.

Yelp
Beautiful spot for a small healthy breakfast and coffee. Bonus: There was an awesome chair exhibit in the cafe when we stopped by.

Yelp
I daydream about this place! The decor is so beautiful and eclectic. The atmosphere and lighting are perfect. I recommend spending sometime here with a cappuccino, their soft boiled egg and danish rye bread. I'm so happy to have discovered this place and I can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
I like this place because it isn't just like any other coffee shop in the city. It had an interesting interior deism vibe and the fact that it is on the 1st floor and not just street level makes it appealing to people watch by the windows. I have only had tea here but I look forward to trying their breakfast. It's very small and doesn't have a ton of places to sit, so be prepared to stand or wait for a table. However if you are looking for a quirky, Cph design inspired place in the center, this is a good option.

Yelp
I waited for almost an hour to get a Mozzarella. I definitely do not recommend going here if you have a tight schedule.
