"Ateliers & Saveurs is the first cooking school in North America open for lunch: for just $22, you’ll spend half an hour cooking your food, half and hour eating it, and be back at the office just on time. The atelier also features more than just cooking classes, which range from Thai to Indian to pastry making: look out for the cocktail and wine tasting courses on offer, as well as a one-of-a-kind tapas class. The cooking class was fantastic - fun, hands-on, and full of flavor! The instructor was friendly and made every step easy to follow. We made 3 delicious dishes, and we left with my friend feeling inspired and confident to recreate them at home. Highly recommend!

Amazing staff and experience! Chef Jos and Theo really took the time to let us experience a great Osso bucco risotto with great wine pairing

Booked a tapas class with Gabriel, he was very knowledgeable and entertaining, I would most definitely book another class with him ! Plus, the food was absolutely delicious ! Great gift idea for loved ones or even as a group activity.

Really great experience for a corporate/team building activity. Our host was Gabriel, and he was professional, funny, and a great mixologist. He brought candles for our colleagues birthday, he spoke English to accommodate us, and was very attentive throughout. The pacing was good, thought the second drink came a bit fast. Selection of drinks were good too, with a nice variety of flavors. We took the 3 Tapas option as well to accompany the 3 cocktails. Though the tapas were very underwhelming. First tapas was just tostitos and guacamole, second was a spinach quiche, last was a fruit cup. Atmosphere and ambience, setting, and location were all prime. Will return for team activates for sure !

We chose their cocktail class as a team outing. All 3 recipes were excellent and we will for sure make them at home. The service and attention was fantastic. The tapas were good and they paid special attention to the allergies. We will definitely go back!

Did a cocktail making class with my best friend. Our host/instructor was Axel, she was amazing and very patient during the class. I loved her energy and how engaging she was with everyone. We made 3 cocktails and had 3 different types of tapas. I loved the location it was beautifully decorated. The location is in old port and easily accessible by metro. I can’t wait to come back to try other classes.

Yelp
Wow. If you are in Montreal with a group and want a fantastic night out, then I highly recommend this. We had a large group of 42 people so we were split up into three groups of 14. Each group started at a different stage. The three stages were a wine tasting, a cooking class and a cocktail class. The staff were superb and made the whole experience fun and very enjoyable. We hot to drink some wine, wink some cocktails and eat a delicious tapas meal that the group cooked. Five stars.

Yelp
My daughter and I participated in the Italian pastry course and unfortunately were disappointed . We weren't expecting that each of the pastries was prepared by the whole group, not small teams, couples etc....but the whole group. People were asked to volunteer for a task and if no one volunteered then a person was chosen to: stir milk, whisk cream or assigned another task while the others looked on. The pastries required chilling time and so in the mean time another pastry was started then chilled and so on. In the end all the desert components were assembled. Since Italian pastries were new to us the starting and stopping etc...confused us....We did learn techniques, procedures and cues. In the end each person received a small sample of each desert. So, if you're a person who is outgoing and comfortable being put on the stop and like to work in groups then you'll be ok. If on the other hand you're more shy and prefer to do things on your own then this is not for you!

Yelp
I recently attended the Tanqueray (Gin) cocktails class and it was an amazing experience. This place has been on my radar for a long while and I finally got to check it out. The space is beautiful and set up like an actual bar. The instructor was great, he was clear, and made the steps easy to follow. He shared lots of fun facts regarding Tanqueray's origin, but what I appreciated most were his tips for recreating the drinks at home. The class is 2 hours with about 12-15 participants. During that time, we made 3 delicious and very different cocktails, ate appetizers (tapas included), socialized and made new friends! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are no classes offered in English. Because of the language barrier, I missed a few things. Despite this, I had an awesome time and would still recommend. I was told that they offer private classes for groups of 12-15 in English. So, I'm currently looking for an excuse to host a Gin party!

Yelp
Last Sunday I had my first cooking lesson at Ateliers et saveurs and I was totally charmed by the experience. As a complete newbie, I had a little apprehension about how that was going to go: I've always felt stymied by my lack of "culinary education" and I never knew where to start when I was trying to learn by myself... So imagine how out of place I felt at first, among a group of cooking enthusiasts, in the middle of a beautiful kitchen full of quality equipment... Well, the feeling of being out of place quickly disappeared thanks to Chef Iman and his unique ability to pass on his love and knowledge of cooking ! Chef Iman explained every task and every culinary term so that everybody could understand (even the level 0 newbies like me), he made everyone participate and we all had a fantastic time. This 3 hours class seemed to pass so quickly! Regarding the price, I found it totally reasonable since you have a very complete 3 hours lesson AND a free meal. I will definitely come back!

Yelp
Our group had a fantastic time at Ateliers!! We were about 30 American spending a few days in Montreal and decided to book a double activity night for the group. We were split in half and while one group had a wine tasting and lesson with bites to eat with Arnaud, the other group was helping Imam prepare a ton of delicious tapas! The wine tasting was really much like a lesson on wine! How to recognize a light wine, how to determine the age, the content of sugar and alcohol. It was really fascinating. Arnaud was a great teacher and extremely knowledgeable. We had 2 tasting and and bits such as cheese puff pastry palmiers, a cheese board with amazing bread and a bread and fish croquette on top of a crunchy salad. We learned so much in our hour! Even the wine aficionados of the group learned something and left the table happy and interested. The cooking class was an awesome adventure and Imam was amazing!! The 2 groups did different things, one did a lot of chopping and preparing and the other a lot of cooking and putting everything together. Makes sense! He was excellent and really patient dealing with all of us. He was on top of everything, and that was a lot!! Mamadou was healing in the kitchen and he was super sweet and efficient with cleaning up all the mess we made. We had the last hour of our adventure dedicated to eating everything we made and some of what chef Imam had prepared in advance for us. We got to enjoy: - seared foie gras with grilled figs, speculos crumbs and coulis: that was one of my favorite!! - grilled sesame tuna on top of a pea purée - gratin dauphinois with shredded duck: delicious! - salmon tartare: amazing. - cheese and steak skewers - banana bread with berry coulis - my favorite, and I had 3 portions.... Was a layered dessert with crumbs, a mascarpone like yogurt and topped with a mango coulis. That was amazing. We had a great experience. The food was delicious, the team very professional, and we created very fun memories! Thanks for having us!

Yelp
A very fun and affordable activity since you get a free meal with it! When we came to Montreal, we didn't really have plans but this was one of the things that showed up for things to do! So glad it did because it was so much fun! We did the 30 min lunch cooking class and we made chicken risotto and it was so good. WARNING: the whole thing was taught in French! Although the instructor translates some of it in English, it was basically 90% taught in French. That was the fun part, tho! The chef translated it enough so you would know the steps. I also asked him questions in English so that's no problem. Each of you are given a task so for example, some were put in charge to chop onions, shred the chicken, actually cook the dish. Only two people can actually cook so FYI- you might not be up there on the stove but it's still fun! Really a great experience! We loved it and recommend it to anyone visiting or even for locals.

Yelp
This place is fun! For my Easter vacation to Montréal I was looking for something else other than Mont-Royal and Notre Dame, and I saw some suggestions to take cooking classes so I found here. You may choose different type of cooking classes related to entrees, desserts or wine pairing. I took two class one is cooking steak and one is chocolate. At first I worries about language because All public classes are taught in French stated on the website in English. However the people here are nice. They will try a lot of effort to explain in English, only problem is you will miss out a lot of French humor. They will explain how dishes are cooked and have everybody responsible for one step instead of everybody follows the instructor step-by-step. Since they are very experienced they give useful hints to improve your cooking skill. The environment is clean, tidy and organized. Every employees here are professional, even the assistant responsible for cleaning and organized maintain their hygiene and professionalism that shows they put a lot of effort of detail. I come from the San Francisco Bay Area so I think their price is cheap. Each class is $65-75 Canadian dollar vs $80-100 in San Jose, CA or even $130+ in San Francisco what I heard. So language is not a concern in this school, only if you are thinking of wine pairing... I would definitely come back to Montréal for vacation for this place.

Yelp
So... I was going into this with some hesitation as I had previously been to culinary guild (where we were left with ingredients and no directions, including the location of kitchenware - skip that place). I was very pleasantly surprised by the easy going atmosphere and clear instructions from chef Olivier who leads you through the process and gives you a bunch of useful tips as you go. Went for lunch with a 1 hour quick course, dinner is also available for 5 course meal in 3 hours. Instructions are simple enough not to be intimidating to 'newbies' and the wine service was steady :-). So in spite of my initial worries.. this turns out to be a fun experience which I would definitely recommend. The workshop is located in the new Timeout market which is worth checking out! (sorry my boss has the pics... will try to add soon)

Yelp
The concept of cooking something together and then sharing after works great for team building. The setup is top notch, kitchen is what any culinary enthusiast would want for their home - except for their knives. They were quite dull, and to me this was a safety hazard. One star off for this. We made two scallop dishes and two duck dishes, had fun eating and comparing them side by side after. Good stuff.

Yelp
Wow! One of the most FUN things I've done in Montreal! We went in a group of 12 and were greeted by the most gracious, dapper host: Julian, who escorted us into the Mixology Room first. There, we learned how to make two delicious cocktails. The key apparently, is vigorous shaking while dancing to Top 40 Hits. After that, we went into the immaculate, modern, and well-appointed kitchen, and made the acquaintance of Rudolfo. A gem. Funny, enthusiastic, helpful, and an absolute pleasure to get cooking tips from. In the midst of all the witty banter, I totally forgot the man was putting me to work! We made an array of tapas by each of us contributing some slicing, dicing, peeling, stirring, mixing, chopping, sautéing, caramelizing (me!), deglazing (me encore!), massaging (of chicken thighs; not me), filleting, roasting and frying. And then we ate it all! At the very end, Rudolfo rewarded us with dessert. Home-made cookies and panna-cotta. A thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable evening, partly due to the phenomenal people working at Ateliers & Saveurs, partly due to the awesome facility, and yes, partly due to those two cocktails at the beginning of the session. They know what they're doing over there...

Yelp
So I don't like to slam places unless they deserve it. I visit Montreal for work a lot and occasionally when I have time I like to take a cooking class. There are some good ones. These guys have a place at the time our market and I can say the rudest reception I ever had. The girl that greeted me should never have any contact with people. Maybe a job with plants would be good for her. I simply asked some questions and she did not want to answer and only told me I had to go to the web site for information. I said but I'm here. There is literally no one else in the place why not just tell me if I can take a class today or in the next few days. She told me to go to any other class but not there. What the hell is wrong with these people. Never ever ever go there. Unbelievable.

Yelp
Omg!!! Had the best time there with my boyfriend!! We had the lunch class for beef tartare! It was delicious! We loved the format of the class. Very easy going and fun. The chef was super nice and made sure to answer all the questions. You can order wine while you prep the food. We meet great people that otherwise we would not have. If you are in doubt, dont be! Just go!!

Yelp
I was introduced to atelier et saveurs by a friend who took me there for wine tasting/food pairing. This consists of tasting 6 different wines all accompanied by a tapas style portion of food that they pair with. The session is led by a sommelier and the food was prepared right in front of us by a chef. The sommelier explained the different types of wine we were tasting and the chef explained the food and they let us know why the two pair well together. They both did a great job of keeping it fun , educational and interactive. The atmosphere was fun , light hearted and comfortable. They definitely did not skimp on the portions of wine and the food pairings were delicious ! I had a great time and learned a lot at the same time. The session we went to consisted of mostly couples but I was there with a friend and a few people were also there with a friend. Definitely do your best to be on time , they do have a grace period for lateness but within reason because they cannot delay the whole group for one or two people which makes sense. I really enjoyed my experience and would like to go back , they offer a lot of different options like wine tasting/pairing , cooking classes, baking classes ,cocktail classes etc any of which I would be curious to check out ! This is a fun idea for a date , a group activity or a night out with a friend ! The nice thing is you can also book for private group sessions or signup alone or with a friend. The prices aren't cheap but aren't unreasonably expensive either , they make sense for the quality of what you're getting. You can always keep an eye out as they do sometimes offer deals online !

Yelp
I booked the chocolate event six weeks ago as a special birthday gift for my niece along with flights and hotel, only to be telephoned 4 days prior to say "canceling due to unforeseen circumstances" So be wary about booking in advance.

Yelp
Would have been a great experience...instead I feel like we were hustled. My company paid for a 3 hour cooking class which was awesome. It included mixology and cooking. We made two different drinks during the mixology portion of the class. When the drinks were finished they would ask if you would like another. At the end of the class they brought out drinks for a few guest that they said they has made special for them and asked everyone else if they would like another drink. Most said sure. They later turned the music down and informed everyone that the mixology drinks were included in the cost but the other ones they made were not included and we would need to pay extra. Such a scam and poor business practices. I had a great time during the class....but the fee we paid took care of a few drinks. Shameless scam that left me leaving this cooking class with a bad taste in my mouth!
