Athena Hotel

Excellent hotel in the temple town of thiruvannamalai, located in a serene and silent location. They do have all amenities like yoga room, swimming pool, gym and also support girivalam trip. Rooms were clean,Staff were very courteous and the complimentary breakfast was very nice.Must visit location if you choose to stay in Tiruvannamalai.

Following the good reviews on booking.com and Tripadvisor, together with having spent a week at Athena in 2019, I was absolutely disappointed with how run down the hotel currently is. |Firstly, I must admit that I had a most wonderful experience at Athena in 2019. The proprietor was on duty daily and went beyond the call of duty to make our stay an awesome experience. It was also very clean and welcoming.|Currently, the good Proprietor has left management of the hotel to someone else. So the professionalism and warm welcome previously received is now lacking. We were assured that we would be given the best garden facing room since we couldn’t be reached to confirm our arrival time for the mountain facing room which we had booked. This was then allocated to someone else.|Secondly, the room floors were clean with clean carpets, however the condition of the towels and bed linen leave much to be desired. Once white, they now show signs of pathetic ageing with being very discoloured and torn in some places.|The bathroom doesn’t meet any standard of cleanliness. The foul odour was immediately offensive. The bathroom is badly designed to keep parts dry which has failed in all intentions. The washbasin area, and the toilet are separated by a closed double door shower, meaning that the shower opens from the washbasin side and opens out to the toilet side. This double sliding doors are poorly constructed and allows water to run towards the toilet and washbasin areas, therefore failing miserably at keeping the bathroom dry. And you have already guessed correctly, one has to cross a wet shower to get to the toilet. Hazardous planning.The wall tiles in the bathroom haven’t been scrubbed in ages. Lime scale on the stainless steel fittings make the fittings look dirty and repulsive to touch. |Cushions and runners on the bed were dirty. The hot water ran more cold than hot. |After spending about nine hours on the road, we were very tired and hungry. The dining area was dead. There was no buffet service and we were left unattended for 30 minutes. We were forced to leave the hotel and seek an alternative restaurant. |The driveway leading to the hotel has monstrous potholes and creates a very bad first impression. |There seemed to be no guest rules enforced regarding noise levels way past 11pm. |I was also disappointed not to see fish in the pond . We immediately decided that we couldn’t spend another night there. |Please restore Athena to its previous glory.

ATHENA ...I would say A BEAUTIFUL HOME IN THE FORM OF A HOTEL Where you receive the warmth and care like family.. It's Mountain acing rooms have got a pectacular view of APPA ARUNACHALA..The restaurant has a homely feel here all the dishes are cooked as per our customized taste buds..It also has a outdoor sitting garden space where we can sip our coffee in peace ..The Management is open to feedback and is constantly improving their services and giving us a better and new experience every time I stay there... The pool is rightly lit and the room I stayed was well equipped with all the modern amenities one needs ..OVERALL IN A TEMPLE TOWN HAVING SUCH A PLACE WHERE WE CAN MINDFULLY ENJOY OUR STAY AND SOULFULLY EXPERIENCE ARUNACHALA IS A BONUS

Excellent resort in a prime location. Just 500 mtrs from Girivalam path and the Mountain. Staffs were really polite, helpful and they will make you feel like a king. . Rooms are very quiet, neat and clean.

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff ever. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to be back for a longer visit soon.

On 9th Aug 2025, We visited Tiruvannamalai with family and took room in Hotel Athena. The room was very specious, cleanliness is excellent. In the center of the hotel there is a nice restaurant, the food quality is very good. Afternoon there will be buffet lunch(Vegetarian - Soup, rice, millet upma, sambar, paneer, curd, rasam, papad ... etc.) with reasonable price) and dinner Idli, Dhosa Chapathi, Fried rice, Ghee rice, Jeera rice, Daal tarka, paneer etc options are available. And morning complementary breakfast (Idli, Dhosa, Bread-Butter, Poori, Upma, Pongal, Juice etc ...) At evening 6 PM, I and my wife left for the Girivalam (Parikrama) and we left our small daughter and my mother in the hotel room. From the restaurant food was delivered to the room for our daughter and mother for dinner. There is a swimming pool for kids and adult, but no water in the kids pool, my daughter and I enjoyed in the same pool. Very friendly staff and receptionist, we like the location of the hotel. It is in very peaceful area, Annamalai hill view balcony.

Very good hotel. Food quality is very good. The staff are excellent. Very cordial. Amenities are good. I must appreciate the staff that they are so helpful, cordial and good behaviour. Small suggestion : At the time of breakfast all boys are busy, but one Supervisor / Senior Staff members presence is required at the Restaurant to look after the guests. If time and chance permits, I would love to stay here with my family again. Thanks to Management.
