It's not often I write a review before falling asleep on the first night. Great location is one thing -- and it's a great location-- but major red flags.
First, I have yet to see anyone who actually works at the hotel. All interactions have been with waiters at the downstairs restaurant who are apparently not hotel staff. Our room keys had been left with them (we arrived at 8pm) to give to us.
When I say the room is small, I am not exaggerating in the least. How can I explain... The room might be 15ft x 15ft x 15ft plus a bathroom (see the pictures to believe it). I would expect this from a hotel costing a QUARTER of the price I paid, but it seems someone slapped "boutique" on the description and suddenly felt justified in charging more than €200/night.
Then when we immediately found our air conditioning didn't work (this was the end of August). The "reception" speed dial was answered by, you guessed it, the restaurant staff who gave us their best guess at how to work the thermostat ("maybe you have to close the balcony doors for it to work"-- hey, I tried it. Nope). After the third call, I requested to be moved to a room where the AC worked since no one would come up to help me. They then decided to call someone who knew what they were doing. Two call backs later, a woman said they had been aware that the top level ACs weren't working, but she hadn't been able to catch us before she went home. "It should all be resolved by tomorrow." Why am I finding out about this at 9pm? Why was I assigned a room without a working AC? Why did I have to play telephone to finally speak with you??
I requested a refund for the night without AC. She said she'd talk to *supervisor* in the morning. Very unhappy for the price I splurged on for a nice couple of days in Athens.
