Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park

We had a fabulous time at Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park. While we rented cabins, there were so many happy campers (and RV / van camping) and (well behaved) kids running around everywhere. Clearly everyone was having a great time! The common facilities were plentiful and clean, and we were surprised that there were kayaks for hire with just a small contribution toward maintenance. The property is so well maintained, everything super clean, all the staff very friendly and helpful and responsive to any question. We especially loved that this is really a place loved by locals, as we met folks visiting from all around the north island.

Great place for camping. Staff really nice, welcoming and friendly. Place has games room which the kids liked. A separate TV room. Showers n hot water and on gas so "All goods". Loads for the family to do (playground, Bowentown, Waihi beach and caves). Woolworths and New world down the road (15mins give or take) in Waihi township and Katikati. 4 square in waihi beach township. Reception does have milk and other things available. Food truck on site but open hours dependent. Great coffee and muffins in the morning and we had burgers that were the menu that night. Place is fully fitted out from swimming pools and kitchen facilities (toasters, jugs, pots n pans) and bbq facilities. Definitely on the radar when it comes to camp grounds. 5 Stars! Great place for the whole family. Camp grounds are flat. Not too far of the main highway and fantastic views when its not raining.

The self-contained cabin was very adequate for our needs, and was clean and comfortable. The pools were right next door and were really the main drawcard. They are quite unusual in that they are drained and cleaned every night then refilled. No added salt or chlorine, no sulphur smells, and the water had a "silky" feel to it. The water was at a nice temperature and the pools had shade sails over them for shade. The surrounding walls were tastefully decorated with mosaics from local artists. The cost of our stay seemed reasonable.

What a fabulous place for a visit. I was there one night on the way home in my campervan. I was hanging out for a soak in the hot water pools. The place is SO clean, sink/benches are spotless, the toilets clean with lovely soft music piped through, great hot shower with good pressure. Overall a lovely, feeling to the whole place. Kitchen has all you need. The lady who was in the reception area was super friendly and helpful when I asked about where to go for a walk. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The holiday park has everything we could ask for — friendly staff, a hot spring pool, kayak hire, and a great location close to Bowentown and Waihi Beach. The park is maintained to an exceptionally high standard and is the cleanest holiday park we’ve ever stayed at. We would definitely come back every Christmas.

We stayed here for a family wedding and it couldn't have been more enjoyable. The staff and management bent over backwards for us and we could not praise them enough for there efforts. The facilities were excellent and we had the privilege of staying in one of their newly renovated units. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the thermal pools after a big day out exploring the area.

Really enjoyed our stay. All amenities were always clean, I loved how towels were left in showers and kitchens so guests could wipe down areas. Plenty spaces for parking, friendly and helpful staff. My grandys loved meeting all the other kids on the tramp. Will definitely recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a powered campsite. The Park is beautiful. The Amenities are tidy and clean, same as the pool. This was a lovely highlight to our trip, and kid friendly, our daughter loved it. It felt safe, and the staff are lovely and friendly. We will definitely be back again soon and making this a regular holidaying spot. Thank you !
