I LOVE ATHENS DINER I was once driving by and craving a good Greek salad and decided to stop here as I was in the area. The space is truly lovely, well kept, clean and feels like home. I now work in the area and finally was able to order the delicious salad with chicken and a chocolate milkshake as a treat! 🥗🥤 The chicken was so fresh and tasty, the salad itself was huge and I have leftovers, the milkshake was gone in seconds AND I got yummy pita bread with tzatziki sauce!!!! What a marvelous treat! I really think this place is a gem and I love dinning in or being able to take out, the parking lot is a bit tiny and wacky access but once you’re there you will love it!!! ♥️

In the past I've ordered Greek burger with feta cheese and today I got sauted liver with bacon and onions. If you like liver, this meal is excellent. Tasty, not dry, cooked really nice. Loved the sauce too. Mine came with french fries, corn and fresh Greek salad but you can choose any addons, soup, etc. And as a result, all dishes are empty :) Loved it! Nice family restaurant, friendly and fast service, plenty of parking space.

This is such a lovely diner! It is a hidden gem. The people are so warm and wonderful. The food and service are great. I love their soup. They have a nice variety. Good soup is so hard to find! Give them a try. You won't be sorry.

Had dinner last night was fantastic. I ordered an open gyro with rice and pita on the side was honestly a work of art and delicious nice portion size too ! will be going back thank you again guys!

Decided to stop here while in the area who doesn't love a good diner. I had my father-in-law, his brother and sister in law, and my son with us. Interior was bright and decorated w pics of Greece small space but they made good use w tables and booths. No one was on top of each other and the waitstaff could move easily around. Our waitress was considerate of w us considering the menu being in the larger size and lots of different choices it took us time to decide what to eat. My fil had a western omelet w home fries He liked the portion and said it tasted great. He loved that you had jellies for the extra toast on the table w a variety of choices. My son had your egg burger and like the way the egg and burger came out just like ordered medium well. He liked the fries too. They were crispy and hot. My aunt and uncle both ordered the BLT w mayo on the side. They like that the waitress asked. The said the sandwich tasted good and the bread was toasted well. I had a special. A panini of grilled chicken spinach roasted pepper and fresh mozzarella. I like the flavors the spinach was steam great and they had a good portion size. Most places I've had spinach on a sandwich it not enough for each bite not this one was. My only critique in the negative was that the bread used became soggy when I was taking a break to eat they well done delicious fries. I shared w others who also liked them. My lunch came w soup although she first brought me lemon rice soup. I corrected her by saying is this the lentil she took it back and I watched her pore it back into the soup container. And although that's not something I would do and I know I didn't touch it but that should not have been done in my eyes. The lentil did come out and it was delicious lentil not over cooked broth had good flavor. Only other mistake was my drink I ordered a Diet Coke and I believe the first one was a mix of diet and ice tea once I let our waitress know she fixed the order. My son pointed out that they only have another drink for serving for free. I also tried the water which was as good, and if you've read other of my reviews I am a water snob so this one passed with flying colors.

Great local diner, does basics well and the specials are well special! Had a lox Benedict special and hungry man. It could have fed 3 or 4 people. Get their grits, it's very good. Pancakes are tasty too.

Quiet relaxed atmosphere and not rushed. Friendly owners. who make you feel welcome. For a small diner, care is given to keep the food fresh and presented well. This dish was a special request variation of the Shrimps Scampi dinner offered on the menu. I asked for the scampi shrimp to be served over spaghetti with a few extra shrimp added upon my special request. Broccoli , dded by the owner chef, made the eye appeal enticing.

Order the classic Greek gyro . The lamb meat was overcooked to the point where the edges were burnt . The spinach pie was dried out and had insufficient spinach and feta cheese in relation to the thick dough covering . Disappointing, we won't be back .

We were passing through and saw the sign and went in for lunch. Tatiana, the owner's wife greeted us warmly. The food was excellent! I had the Pastitsio, which is Greek lasagna and my wife had the Gyro Chicken Wrap. The dining room and tables were clean and inviting. Judging from the crowd that was there, this establishment is popular with the locals and that's always a good sign! I recommend this restaurant highly.

Pretty good Greek salad! Only thing I've ever ordered from here and it was an add-on item from Uber Eats, but I would definitely go in person to check out more of their menu!

Nice waitresses. First time there, we had Greek food which was okay. Next time, ordered pancakes I couldn't cut with a knife! Microwaved pancakes? Slow service (don't go if you're in a rush), inattentive... all things considered, my one star stands. Giving it one more try (at my partners insistence) I will NEVER go back. Found a new dinner ... water on table immediately and we had our food in less than 15mins... now THAT is a diner!

Bf and I ate here today for lunch. We liked it very much. Food was very good, and service was too. Tammy and Tatiana were awesome. Middle Island Ppl need to come here - this is great for the neighborhood... we need a good local restaurant like this. We look forward to coming back. Thanks for a nice lunch ladies.

A group of ladies eat there on Tuesdays. Food and service are consistently excellent, and prices are reasonable. Good choices on daily specials. I had the Greek salad with grilled salmon... one of the best salmon dishes I've had recently. Go to Athens Diner

My mom and I came in one morning before I had to go to the airport I had the Spinach, onions, tomato, ham and cheese omelet. The omelet was brown and well done. I feel unless you ask for your eggs well done or soft / easy they should not be brown or runny. They should be cooked just normal. The omelet had what it said it had but the cheese on top had hardly melted for eggs that were so well done. As far as getting service there was only 1 other booth in the back with 2 men. The waitress must have known them because she stood there talking to them for a good few minutes after we sat. When we went to pay we stood at the register for no less than 5 minutes. The cook finally came out and took our money because the waitress was too busy talking to the last booth. This place is under its 3rd ownership. With the quality of food and their pricing I dont see them lasting either. My omelet was $12.95 on their special Monday - Friday menu. My suggestion based on knowing the history of this place. Lower the prices a bit and you might get the crowd in you need to stay in business. A veggie omelet at the Coram Pond is only $9.95 every day!

Served our purposes. We were hungry and seeking a clean place to get fresh food. Easter Sunday breakfast before seeing family for dinner. The omelet specials were great. Tomatoes were ripe, spinach was not over cooked. Egg cream could have been been better and larger, but overall we'd recommend.

We came in at 230 pm on Sunday . We walked in and was told they are closing at 3 . We decided to stay and was told to sit anywhere . We did not get any menus I grabbed them from a booth. We ordered in less then two minutes of walking in . We did get our food. We were not asked if we needed anything or how the food was . Then while we were eating 245 the check came to the table . We were clearly not welcomed. Please lock your door after 2 pm if you do want to serve anyone.

Being home cooking for a few weeks during the quarantine makes you a bit crazy in search of different foods and flavors. We tried this place for the first time and it didn't disappoint. We got the family meal at a great price point. The gyro meat was perfectly cooked and not too salty like some other places. The salad was beautifully presented and chickpea side was a nice touch. Highly recommend.

Love this place, always stop here for lunch or dinner they are great everything is very good, works quickly and servers are so nice, Tatiana always will meet you and will take care of you from beginning until end. Great place, you are doing a great job guys wish you all the best.

I have driven past this Diner many times and finally stopped in. I ordered a Gyro and greek salad,delish!! The meat was so tender. The food was excellent and the owners and people that work there are friendly and accommadating. Will definitely go back!

Athens is a small family owned diner that is always spot on with their food. The service is always friendly, welcoming and they work hard to make their customers happy. I also always like to support local businesses in these trying times and so should you. Check them out!

... just had one of the worst meals I've ever experienced ... ordered a blackboard special ... Flounder stuffed with Spinach and Feta with Broccoli and Mashed Potatoes ... first off, the portions were very small for $ 23.95 at a diner ... the flounder was oily, overcooked to being tough, and tasteless ... the broccoli was barely cooked, tough and cold and the mashed potatoes were from a mix ... desert was an inch and a half wide piece of ice cold apple pie ... also tasteless ... afterwards I felt sick ... and robbed of my $ 30 and a decent meal ... must've changed owners ... it used to be good ... won't be going back ...

After two visits we don't know where to place Athens. They cover th basics well. It's clean, the staff is friendly, they have a typical diner menu, which means you can get anything. An added benefit is that they are super local to me so I could walk her inside of 20 minutes . So wouldn't be perfect if they were a 5 star home run attraction. The good, between my wife and I we have had and viewed as positive the eggs (scrambled), pancakes, bacon, sausage, French fries and gyro. I have a more protein based diet while she is more carb based. What missed for both of us were the burgers. These tasted like institutional freezer burgers. When cooked they weren't even brown, but a dull greyish color. Nothing attractive about these in appearance or taste. We had hope this was a fluke on one visit but the pattern repeated itself about a month later, so gotta figure this is the standard. It's too bad since their breakfast stuff is pretty good. I'm sure we'll give it another try 'cause it's soooo close. But It need to work for three meals and not just one.

Absolutely love this place, another good meal! I ordered an egg benedict and my husband ordered a greek combo from the lunch specials. Gyro with souvlaki tasted so good ,food was fresh and absolutely delicious.Also, they serve breakfast all day.

Absolute gem of an owner. The owner of the establishment is quite an amazing human. He went out of his way to ensure that the Grub Hub order I was placing for a sick friend was done perfectly. I am so appreciative. My friend just had surgery and raved about the grilled salmon over Greek salad at this establishment. The owner could not have been more pleasant and was so patient and kind. Great food and a fabulous owner. Put this restaurant on your must visit list!!

This is the a hidden treasure!! The food is exceptionally excellent and the owners Tatiana & Ikey are wonderful, creating a friendly/family atmosphere! This diner is above average in that the food far exceeds "diner" quality food, more like a "chef" is cooking the food here! The pork souvlaki is fabulous... try it! Love this place; love the owners! A must...try it!! :-)

Delicious salmon panini and accommodated me with a side salad instead of french fries. Ordering again this visit out here.

Been coming here since opening and they never seem to fail and impress me with their delicious and fresh food! Tried this dish today and it was super yummy! Definitely would recommend anytime- great staff and service as well! Gotta check it out when in the area- 10/10

Been here twice with my in laws who love this place. It's a smaller more out of the way diner but worth checking out if your going to be in the Middle Island area. The staff is very friendly, even the cook comes out to see if patrons are enjoying their meal. I definitely recommend the Spinach Pie and Greek Salad - both are delicious.

I love this place! This is not your "typical diner". The food is fresh and tasty, Of course there are Greek favorites that are superb. The chicken gyro is one of the best I've had. The Greek salads are great, always freshly made with high quality feta cheese. I am a creature of habit and generally order the same things, I really love the Stuffed Flounder with Crabmeat and the Farmhouse Chicken entrees. Breakfast is also excellent here, and I generally order a "special" omelette with spinach, tomato, bacon, and swiss cheese, it's delicious and make sure that you get the home fries, some of the best I've ever had. The owners will make you feel at home and you will enjoy your food and your time here. Service is always excellent. Highly recommended!

I've only ever ordered out from this diner but the couple times that I have I was impressed they have an awesome 1/1/1 deal 1 pancake or French toast one egg any style and 1 meat (bacon/sausage/ham) I got myself a traditional gyro and it was delicious their rzatziki was the best part!!

The food is really yummy, taste like good home made breakfast :) i got corned beef hash and they added homefries to it to make it "special for me" the owner (i think he is) is beyond sweet, super super friendly. Definitely recommend coming here :)

Went to the Athens Diner on Middle Country rd in Middle Island and I can not explain how awesome this place is!!! From the moment you walk through the door and are greeted you feel like you are home. The servers and owners are always very friendly, attentive and thankful for you being there. so I ordered A Swiss burger with mushrooms and well done French fries a side of coleslaw and Chicken Avgolemono soup. Let's start with the soup. This soup was delicious it's was so creamy and tasty with a hint of lemon that was just right. It was so good that the person I was with my cousin Stacy Brooks never had it so the owner surprised her with a cup and she loved it to. My burger was cooked perfect to the way I ordered it medium rare and very tasty. I always ask for my Fries very well done and the Athens diner never lets me down they always come out perfectly well done, crunchy on the outside and soft and potatoy on the inside. The coleslaw was also delicious nice and creamy and very tasty. The picture may look a little different because I always get my burger with out the bun. Also in the picture you can see my cousins western omelette which she loved.. now for the best part of any food review time for the pictures... lol -- eating lunch at Athens Diner.

Very friendly people work here. I ordered food to go because of the pandemic, and it was ready when they said. Friendly lady came out to my car with the order. It was hot and delicious! I will be ordering from here again!

Do not go here . Ordered takeout breakfast . On there menu it says special pancakes come with home fries and toast and coffee They told me no and we charger for wash side so how my breakfast was supposed to be $12.00 turned into $29 for 2 sides and pancakes.. I'll never be back

One star because the French fries were good and the other star because the waitress was nice. I ordered a simple grilled cheese and it was barely toasted and the cheese was barely melted you can still see the slices of cheese and it was cold. How can they not know how to make a grilled cheese??? the chicken wings my fiancé ordered were pretty dry. To top it off they were not wearing their masks properly which annoys me because they expect people to wear them coming in..

One of the best diners I've been to! I've been coming here once a week since they opened and have never been disappointed. Family run and the owners pay attention to every detail. A must try if you're in the area!

I had an amazing lunch today. Ordered thr Tuna Salad Platter. Waitress Daphne was on point. Everything was super fresh and delicious and made in house. Kudos!
