Athens Quinta - Hostel

Stayed here a year ago, really liked the vibe before so decided to return here when visiting Athens, spent 5 nights here this time, and to be fair - now I didn’t like it here that much. Btw only on last day I saw reviews about bed bugs, well didn’t see any and had no bites, so maybe it’s fixed? But this issue can be the reason that hostel is basically empty all this time, and was very full a year ago at that time… Main issue - there is a line where old-school furniture and style turns into some form of just being unkempt, and this hostel is crossing jt basically. Some lockers are basically not locking themselves, entrance door doesn’t close itself if you don’t pull it enough (like several times when i returned from a walk I realized door is not locked…), courtyard in such a shape that you don’t wanna sit there. There is no shower spray hold in the shower and seat is missing in a toilet. So you see, a lot of stuff is just unkempt. Then 95% of the time there is nobody from administration in hostel, you are by yourself, didn’t like that, also they don’t answer the messages at all basically. It seems they visit once a day for an hour or two and that’s it heh. Then internet - I don’t understand how can it be this bad in 2025, borderline unusable very often, will attach the abysmal speedtest photo. Breakfast is just a word here - nothing fresh is provided, basically only some old crackers, cereal and cheap coffee thing to brew it. Never even had the desire to eat anything there… Linens are quite old, you can feel it. Beds are also not modern in any sense, the cheapest two-layered bed you can imagine. The style and vibes are still here, but it’s like owners started to give up on keeping it in a good shape, and that’s a shame. I hope it will become better, coz now it’s kinda downhill it seems. Owners pls start to keep it together aight?

BEWARE: BED BUGS!! This hostel is super cute and cozy. I was super excited to stay here, but was quickly let down. Breakfast is pretty much non-existent. Bedding had holes in it, they were like rags. My friend and I got bed bugs staying here. :( The staff pretended they had never had this issue before and were not very helpful or responsive. They wouldn't give us a refund or any compensation. We had to spend so much money and time washing our clothes and had to relocate to a new accommodation. Based on all of the reviews, they clearly have a major bed bug problem and are ignoring it. So disgusting!!

DO NOT STAY. THERE IS A BED BUG INFESTATION. We arrived and got settled in before spotting there were bed bugs all through our bed! When we told the staff member she didn't seem surprised. Luckily we realised before staying the night and got the hell out of there. To be fair the staff member gave us a refund but overall it was an awful experience and we had to move to a different hotel. Which was around the same price and much much nicer.

‼️‼️‼️BED BUGS‼️‼️‼️ Absolutely unacceptable. This place is infested with bedbugs, and the manager knows it but still rents out the rooms. We had booked two nights, but just before going to sleep we spotted a bedbug. We ended up spending the whole night outside on the terrace, waiting until 9am the next morning for someone from the staff to finally show up. The manager stopped answering my calls, but she did pick up the phone when her own staff called her. We had to wash all of our belongings at the laundry next door and demanded a refund for both nights plus the laundry costs. The manager showed zero understanding of the physical and psychological impact of such a situation. When I asked why she dared let us stay in that room, her answer was: ‘Well, I didn’t see any in this room, so for me it’s fine.’ I told her that even if someone paid her, she wouldn’t sleep there herself. She had no response. This is pure bad faith, irresponsibility, and a shocking lack of professionalism — not to mention empathy. Bedbugs are a global health issue, but how one chooses to deal with them is a matter of responsibility. Sadly, this manager and her team are completely unwilling to take the problem seriously, and yet they keep letting guests sleep in these conditions. Let her spend one night in her own hotel and get bitten, I’m sure she wouldn’t be saying the same thing then.

Awful bed bugs and the staff are completely apathetic towards the issue. I have contacted them multiple times about it with no response, meanwhile I am covered in swollen, red welts. This complete and total disregard for health as safety is shameful and made our time in Athens unpleasant. As other reviewers are saying, in addition to the infestation, breakfast is shabby, the beds are rickety, and the staff are vapid, rarely present, and inefficient. Unsurprisingly, they responded to none of the emails I sent them about our check in time or their pest problem, but were very quick to email me demanding I pay (we had “checked in” as soon as they opened its 9 in the morning, but apparently the appropriate staff member to process payment was not present and would not be except between noon and 7:30pm, so we carried on with our day).

Do not stay here, there are bed bugs. We were lucky and noticed before we unpacked and were able to get a refund and move to another hotel. The staff member was helpful in organising a refund, however she did not seem surprised that there were bedbugs in the first place.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The place is FULL of bed bugs. I have no idea why its not mentioned in any other review here because on other sites they mention beg bugs from 2024 onwards. I stayed one night and had to leave (I booked for 3 nights) because all my things were now full of bed bugs. I had to spend extra money to kill them all and now wont be able to sleep soundly for the next month.

Bed Bugs and no kind of cooperation for refund! After my first night, we noticed that there were bed bugs in my room. The staff was nice, but really uncooperative. I booked many days and tried to agree on a refund of some kind, because I needed to book a different hostel now, but nothing was happening. They even removed their door bell now. apart from that: The beds are just regular bunk beds that offer no kind of privacy, I would highly recommend booking a more modern and much cleaner hostel like "When in athens"(10/10) or "retroverse"(9/10)
