The best thing about Athens Studios is definitely the location – right next to the Acropolis Museum, which is perfect for visiting the main attractions and exploring the area on foot. Another positive point is that they allow you to leave your bags after checkout, which is convenient if you want to keep exploring the city before your departure.
However, there were several downsides. The room was very small and honestly didn’t look as nice as the photos online – the pictures make it seem much better than it actually is, which felt a bit misleading.
When we arrived, there was a power outage in some areas of Athens due to the heat. Although this wasn’t the hotel’s fault, they don’t have a generator, so the entire building was completely dark and extremely hot, with no air conditioning. It made the stay quite uncomfortable.
Another negative point was the checkout process. Even though checkout was at 11:00 am, staff started knocking on our door at 10:30 am to clean the room, which felt rushed.
We also didn’t get to try the breakfast because it’s only served from 8:00 to 10:00 am, which is quite inflexible. And with the power outage, there wasn’t much to enjoy anyway. Finally, there was no gesture or compensation offered for the situation, even though we understand the blackout wasn’t their fault.
Overall, great location, but the experience and the room were disappointing compared to what we expected from the photos.
