The Best Walking Tours in Athens (Updated 2025)

"I found Athens Walking Tours offers many small-group walks led by long-time, licensed guides, including mythology-themed tours, deep dives at the Acropolis, off-the-beaten-path routes, and an Acropolis Museum tour, plus food-and-wine options — a solid, authoritative choice for cultural and culinary exploration; tours start at 35 EUR." - Matthew Kepnes

We were just in Athens on their their national holiday and joined this walking tour of the Acropolis with the guide, Antonis. He was super informative, fun and interesting. We had the best time and the sunset tour at the end of the day was incredible. What a great experience and worth the price! #AthensWalkingTours

Our tour guide was fantastic! She was informative and really great. We ran a little late as the taxis were running late that morning and we were not expecting it but she did not make us feel feel rushed or anything. She helped navigate people with elevator too. Highly recommend. I dont remember her name but we she was a great guide.

We booked a tour with Athens walking tours to visit Acropolis and Parthenon. Our tour guide Yolanda was very nice and explained everything passionately. She knew lots of details about the greek history and the buildings. It was a real added value to our visit of the acropolis. We booked the 15:30 tour which was really nice because we saw the sunset from atop the acropolis, which made evrything even more stunning.

Our tour guide was fantastic. She shared more than just history, but pop culture and nuances that I would have missed just visiting on my own. It was worth the cost to get first entry into the Acropolis too. By the time we were leaving around 9:15 am the Acropolis had hundreds if not thousands of people swarming the entrance. We were there with less than 10 people and it was peaceful and cool.

Lots of options in Athens for tours of the Acropolis. I went with Athens Walking Tours for the Acropolis and the museum and I highly recommend them. Our guide, Vicky, was brilliant. The tour was in English but she speaks lots of other languages too. She was very passionate, fun and knowledgeable. The advice received before the tour was helpful (where to meet, bring water, go to the toilet at the meeting point beforehand etc). You can get a coffee next to the meeting point and I do recommend doing an early tour as it gets quite busy! Even though we weren’t a big group, the headphones were really helpful because it is of course a popular place! The museum is great but if you really don’t have much time then you could skip it and do it separately next time. Enjoy!

Seeing the Acropolis is an absolute must with a guide! Philippia was an absolute gem and SO knowledgeable....we started at the South end which is ideal as it's less crowded than the North end where most tours start. The views are spectacular from every vantage point. She shared factual information & stories without boring us with TOO much detail. The tour ended at the Parthenon and we explored a little more on our own afterwards. Tips - use their link to buy the timed entry tickets as it will save you money (they'll send you a payment confirmation and have the timed tickets for entry when you arrive at the meeting point). Our tour started at 10:30 which was perfect as it started getting very crowded as our tour was ending.

Had a great time in the Acropolis. The tour was well organized and our guide very knowledgeable. Of course, it helped that we went in October when there's fewer tourists in Athens overall.

I had a wonderful Early Morning tour of the Acropolis. I highly suggest booking the 7:45am tour. You will get in and out before the crowds, beat the heat, and have lots of time for photos. Our tour guide was amazing, she was so knowledgeable and answered all and any questions. I also recommend adding on the museum tour as you get more in depth insights to the history.
