The Best Walking Tours in Athens (Updated 2025)

"I found Athens Walking Tours offers many small-group walks led by long-time, licensed guides, including mythology-themed tours, deep dives at the Acropolis, off-the-beaten-path routes, and an Acropolis Museum tour, plus food-and-wine options — a solid, authoritative choice for cultural and culinary exploration; tours start at 35 EUR." - Matthew Kepnes

Athens Walks Tour Company We did a skip the line tour of the Acropolis and the Parthenon this am with Anna. She was great! She was well informed and made the tour very enjoyable with some Greek humor thrown in. Highly recommend going early in the am to avoid the heat and the crowds…although it will be crowded. Yes you can walk around on your own but you wont get the history of each little stop on the tour.

I had a wonderful Early Morning tour of the Acropolis. I highly suggest booking the 7:45am tour. You will get in and out before the crowds, beat the heat, and have lots of time for photos. Our tour guide was amazing, she was so knowledgeable and answered all and any questions. I also recommend adding on the museum tour as you get more in depth insights to the history.

I really enjoyed my tour with this group. Our tour guide Yoda was super knowledgeable and offered some great insight with wit to Athens history. We did the extended tour that included agora and was completely worth it. I highly recommend this group

I did the early morning tour of the Acropolis. Much of what I learned was mostly review of what I had once known but forgotten. Our group was first in along with about 25 other people who had also lined up to beat the crowds. Our guide was kind and professional and injected some fun into our tour, especially while waiting to get in. I was glad to see that it was truly a pretty small group. They provide headphones so you can hear the guide, which was helpful keeping us on track when we had a few minutes to explore by ourselves. Do go early… there are portions I felt like we had it mostly to ourselves but you start running into hordes of tour groups quite quickly

Our Tourguide Niki met us at the base of the Acropolis, with a warm smile. Our first indulgence was the spoon sweets served over fresh yoghurt with just a spoonful of preserved fruits. Niki was not only knowledgeable about the local cuisine, but the history of Athens. Making our way through the winding streets and narrow paths, the treats just kept on coming. Savory and sweet treats abounded on this adventure. Niki also took us to the local market. If you’re in Athens, we could not recommend this tour highly enough. Exceptional value, great guide and delicious food. What more could you ask for?

The Acropolis tour was overall okay — very well organized and easy to follow. Our guide was warm, friendly, and added some fun energy to the experience, sharing a few interesting anecdotes along the way. However, for the high price, I expected a bit more depth and time at key areas. It felt like we were rushed through and skipped certain parts. An audio guided tour might have offered more flexibility and detail. That said, the museum tour was excellent — easily the highlight. It was informative, insightful, and gave much more context to what we’d seen outside. If you’re considering the tour, I’d recommend prioritizing the museum portion.

We did the morning Acropolis tour and we’re so glad we did. Having a guide provides more context and history than you would get wandering around by yourself, and Marina was fantastic. She always found shady areas and/or places to rest while explaining things, and we appreciated her commentary. Having the ticket included made for a quick and easy entrance and we ended the tour at the summit where we could leisurely explore and finish at our own pace. 10/10 would recommend, especially the 8:30 or earlier time slot during the summer.

11.15 Acropolis Tour WITH skip the line & admission fee. This tour was absolutely perfect- we learned so much and the guide was great at delivering the facts in a fun and interesting manner. You could spend all day at the acropolis but we had a very limited time available and wanted something concise and precise, to make the best use of our time , and this your delivered. It’s also definitely worth doing this queue jumping tour - great to just walk through. the meeting point was easy to find and the tour was well organised and professional. Great value for money. Highly recommended.
