The superior room we booked was not superior. Dirty walls, when entering, collapsed settee uncomfortable bed. No selection of teas. Old furniture holes in bathroom door. We were moved when we complained this room had been decorated more recently but had 2 single beds not double as we had booked. The building has a lot of history and from the outside looks amazing but inside we felt let it down very tired and needs some money spent on it. Breakfast was awful. Sorry to say the bacon was grey and not smoked as advertised sour sausage and everything was at best luke warn. A member of staff asked if everything was ok. I showed them the colour of the bacon, and they said that doesn't look right. They said I could have another breakfast, but to be honest, it had put me off having anything. The staff were very friendly and helpful We were looking forward to our stay and felt very let down.

14th may 2025 Back again a week later....food great, service excellent ...friendly bunch of guys....very helpful....and no bagpipe music....well done! 7th may 2025 Impressive building in the lovely village of Blair Atholl. The Bothy Bar serves a good standard of pub grub with a comfy country style interior ,a roaring fire and excellent service. My only complaint is the twee bagpipe music on constant repeat!!! Doggies welcome too

The food is top notch in the bar. We have been a few times while in the area but the last time we specifically drove up from Edinburgh to stop in for lunch. Lovely warm atmosphere and staff are always welcoming and attentive.

Favourite place in Scotland. It has so much character and charm. Staff is so friendly and accommodating, as they have been for the 18 years we have been coming. We particularly love the lounge area with the fireplace in winter, to read and for chats and the Bothy Bar with great food. The location is brilliant, for train and car travel. There are wonderful walks from the hotel, Blair Castle is opposite and Bruar Falls are a beautiful hike away. Three nights feel like a week's holiday ❤

Claims to be pet friendly but asked us to leave dog in the car while we had breakfast ( not happening) bedroom was tiny and a throwback to the seventies bathroom which was probably the last time the shower head was cleaned ( disgusting) husband ate breakfast alone and brought mine to the bedroom (stone cold) atholls bothy to the rear of the hotel however was very friendly, great food and great atmosphere. Hotel certainly was not worth £165 per night, won't be back.

Stayed for my final night after hiking 100km through Cairngorms from Aviemore via Braemar, I arrived slightly early and completely soaked☔️ luckily my room was ready and it was very comfy and cozy. My wife had come to meet me and we both agreed food was great in the Bothy bar, we had a very helpful waitress who found us a table in a very busy “table service only” bar. Breakfast was top notch. Would stay again 👍🫶👍🤟

A Highland Gem – Thanks to Ioana! Our stay at the Atholl Arms Hotel in Blair Atholl was a delightful step back in time, with its charming, traditional Scottish Highland ambiance. The food was hearty and satisfying, though fairly average in flavor. But what truly made our visit unforgettable was the exceptional service from Ioana. Ioana is an absolute gem—her warm, welcoming charm immediately made us feel at home. Despite being incredibly busy, she managed each table with remarkable grace and a radiant smile, never missing a beat. Her thoughtful menu recommendations, insights on portion sizes, and honest descriptions of dishes were spot-on, making our dining experience so much easier and more enjoyable. At one point, I mentioned to my husband how delightful she was, and the couple at the next table overheard, immediately joining in with their own praise for her. It’s clear that Ioana’s genuine hospitality leaves a lasting impression on everyone she serves. While the food itself was good, it was Ioana who made our meals special—she has the rare gift of making guests feel like cherished friends, and she turned our simple dining experience into a memory we will always treasure. We sincerely hope the management at Atholl Arms knows what an incredible asset they have in Ioana. Thank you, Ioana, for making two older travelers from New Mexico feel so special. You are a true star.

A beautiful, charmingly old Scottish hotel, with a selection of relaxing fireside lounges and bars and surely some of the friendliest and most helpful staff we’ve ever come across. Perfectly located by the tiny railway station, with lots of easy strolls, longer walks and all-day hikes right on the doorstep, and the lovely town of Pitlochry nearby. We’ve stayed here in the summer and during the new year holidays and have loved everything about it hope to return.

Yelp
Good food, great location, lovely ambience. We happened to walk in on a lovely weather day and opted to sit outside but they also had snug seating and larger tables inside. Service was good but we ordered at the bar and they delivered our lunch order outside. Fish and chips was excellent and a very healthy portion size!

Yelp
Europe 2023 - Scotland Not many choices in this town Blair for food and the place we chose was closed, so happy to find anyplace with food. But this Pub is at the Arms Hotel right at the train exit. FAST Food: I broke down and got the Hamburger with fried egg. This was a solid burger! Tasty and filling. Came with string fries too. We also got the Mac & Cheese, which were also very good, which came with thicker steak chips! Atmosphere: Scottish pub feel, old tables with cushion bench chairs. Lots of antlers on the wall and pictures of deers. The pub area was pretty full too, so we might have gotten lucky! Service: Excellent, we were sat down quickly and beer/food orders taken quickly. Tip: sit in the pub side. Order the Belhaven Ale

Yelp
Dropped into the pub for a pint after a cold day of hiking in Perthshire. Delightful and warm, this pub gave this tourist the quintessential Scottish pub experience.

Yelp
Well, let's start with something positive. The bar is nice, the staff is great! They have a good choice of beers and whiskey and an outstanding choice of local ales and Gin. You can spend a great evening here drinking. But stay away from the food! We hab Fish & Chips and a Burger. The fish & chips were the worst I ever had in Scotland. Maybe the fat was old or not hot enough. The chips were soaked with fat and jelly. The mushy peas cold. The poor haddock who had to do for that.... But the burger was even worse. It was a deep frozen patty and looked and tasted like fried sawdust... But again, in Scotland you'll have a high standard in pub food, we have been really disappointed. But again, it's a great bar with great staff. They should just think about their food concept...

Yelp
We only had a drink here at the end of a long walk through the beautiful Glen Tilt, so it's a bit difficult to fully review the place. But it seemed like a nice pub with traditional decor and lots of little alcovey bits where you could sit and have your apres walk pint. The staff coped well with the sudden influx of about 40 walkers, and we were served reasonably quickly. We had a little look at the menu, and there were plenty of veggie options, and some that could be vegan, so if I'm in the area again, I'd definitely have a meal here to try it out.

Yelp
Coffee delivered very quick. Nice highland feel to the Hotel, from the tartan carpets to the ornate wooden panelling. The lounge area is quite dark and has to be lit during the day, but quite a busy wee place to stop into after a walk through Blair Castle Estate. Next time I will stop for food and a beer.
