I booked a reservation for Christmas High Tea on the 25th itself, expecting a nice high tea to celebrate with my parents. Upon arriving, the entrance on the 55th floor was crowded with tourists trying to take photos with the view, and we were confused as to where the entrance was. At the lounge itself, the staff led the 3 of us to a high table which seemed a little small for high tea, and quite tall for my elderly mother to sit at. We then asked the waiter for another table and she told us she would find another table for us to sit at. She also informed us that there was a minimum spending of 30sgd++ per person at this table. The seats were uncomfortable and there was no where to place our shoulder bags, so we had to keep them on our laps while making sure they don't fall. I would have placed it on the floor, but the floor itself looked like some kind of grey-black rug you'd see in pop-up events and it didn't look very clean. Apart from that, there was another group of 3 who had 2 high tables combined just for them to have high tea comfortably, while we only had 1 table. The food itself was okay, some were delicious but others were too sweet. And there was one selection of small cups that contained apple cider vinegar that looked like pure cooking oil. None of us drank it because it really looked like just a cup of oil. My father saw a lady in another table drink the whole cup straight and she gave the most distraught expression after. Paying 48++ per person for this service as well was quite expensive. After a while, the waiter who promised us another table said there was one available, but we had to spend a minimum of 80sgd++ per person just to sit there. At that point, we were already tired and our expectations were let down on this Christmas Day, so we just stuck with our small, uncomfortable high table. People would say I'm ungrateful, but this was meant to be a special occasion for my family on Christmas, just to be disturbed by the "bare minimum" service and dull atmosphere. The lounge genuinely had pop-up cafe vibes if you didn't sit at the tables facing the view, and didn't have a single christmas decoration. And the staff didn't even wish us Merry Christmas or asked us how the experience was. I'd much rather spend the same amount at TWG or even go to Swissotel SKAI if I'm gonna pay 80sgd++ per person.
My father also said it would be his first, and his last time dining there. This was just my personal experience, and may not be a general consensus about the place. But for me, it was just not it. 👎👎👎
