These Are the 14 Best Cenotes in Tulum, Mexico

"Located about seven miles from central Tulum, this open-air cenote combines clear swimming water with art installations and cultural touches; facilities include a snack bar, gear rentals, restrooms, and showers. Surrounded by vegetation and tall stone walls draped in vines, visitors enter via a staircase or wooden ladder, and decorative statues and a wall of skulls reference Mayan beliefs about cenotes as entrances to the underworld." - Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty is a writer who specializes in covering destinations, resorts, and cruises for Travel + Leisure and other publications. Great place. It's fun for photos and swimming. Get there early and you'll have it all to yourself. I loved it and the photos have no filters, except for the one with the giant head. The colors were fantastic. No need to buy a ticket in advance, I did, as you can purchase right when you get there. I recommend buying the ticket with the art walk as that place is really stunning.

Atik Tulum is a beautiful local park with a truly special vibe. The cenote is stunning—perfect for a refreshing dip—and the surrounding art installations are creative and unique. Every corner offers a great photo opportunity, making it a dream spot for Instagram-worthy shots. It’s peaceful, inspiring, and a must-visit if you're looking to experience something different from the usual tourist spots.

While this is obviously man made it was stunning! Such a lovely day with a lot of exhibits. We recommend getting there as soon as they open to enjoy the installations with almost no one! Tours trickle in in the afternoon and we were lucky to have the entire cenote to ourselves.

This cenote is absolutely stunning! 😍 It’s a smaller, more intimate spot compared to other cenotes in the area, which makes the experience feel a bit more personal and peaceful 🌸. Just a heads up, there’s barely any cell service here 📵, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. It’s the kind of place where you want to disconnect and soak in the beauty around you 🌅. The cenote itself is gorgeous, the colors are incredibly vibrant 💙💚, and the water is crystal clear. If you enjoy swimming 🏊‍♀️, you’ll love it here. There’s a tiny island 🏝️ in the middle that you can easily swim to, which is such a fun little touch and perfect for relaxing or snapping a cool photo 📸. There are a few designated spots that are perfect for photos 📷💫, and the whole place feels very photogenic. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a beautiful, quiet cenote with a magical vibe! ✨🌊💖 Price: I think we paid 150 pesos each person when we were there.

Loved Atik except for the price. The earth art and exhibit end could use some refreshing. The cenote is ok not amazing. almost nowhere to sit/get in and deep with only one refuse spot in the middle.

Very beautiful spot! They have the “museum” option where you can walk through and it has nice backdrops for pictures. And the cenote itself was really nice! The water was cool (not too cold, but just right for how hot it was). It has a waterfall and a middle area where you can chill. The water is deep so your feet don’t get scraped on the rocks there. I recommend going around 10AM ish before it gets too crowded.

We visited Atik Tulum Park early at 10 AM and had the place to ourselves for an hour, which was perfect for taking photos without crowds. The park is beautiful, with stunning natural scenery and unique spots for pictures. Two hours is enough to explore everything in detail and capture great shots. However, the price-1700 pesos for two people, plus an extra 300 pesos for a professional camera-felt steep, and the camera fee seemed arbitrary. Overall, a great experience, but the cost could be more reasonable.

This was by far my favorite place in Tulum. We went on a Tuesday in May, and it felt like we had the place all to ourselves. It was absolutely magical. You could hear every sound of nature so clearly, it was truly mesmerizing. We were so enchanted by the atmosphere that we even forgot to eat! The water was the perfect temperature, and if you stay calm in the cenote, you might even see turtles pop their heads out. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. It was a truly unique experience! Thank you
