These Are the 14 Best Cenotes in Tulum, Mexico

"Located about seven miles from central Tulum, this open-air cenote combines clear swimming water with art installations and cultural touches; facilities include a snack bar, gear rentals, restrooms, and showers. Surrounded by vegetation and tall stone walls draped in vines, visitors enter via a staircase or wooden ladder, and decorative statues and a wall of skulls reference Mayan beliefs about cenotes as entrances to the underworld." - Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty is a writer who specializes in covering destinations, resorts, and cruises for Travel + Leisure and other publications. Overpriced, overhyped, and energetically out of alignment As someone who lives here and carries deep respect for the sacred lands of the Riviera Maya and Mayan culture , I was drawn to Cenote Atik by the promise of natural beauty and ancestral connection. Instead, I found a high-priced tourist trap dressed in spiritual aesthetics but hollow in integrity. The “full day access” includes: • A single cenote (small, crowded) • One kayak (yes, just one) • A “turtle exhibit” that’s actually baby turtles in a reptile tank at the front desk • 9 lockers in the women’s change room, 2 of which were broken • Not enough life jackets for everyone • Lockers that aren’t bolted down (anyone could walk off with your things) On the website it seems like you get a lot for the price but the ‘park’ itself is walkable within 15 min. The ‘art’ is all made of plastic. The showers are not enforced—meaning people walk into the cenote with full makeup, glitter, sunscreen, body oils, all ready to take photos for the gram, and no cleansing beforehand. It’s treated like a photoshoot, not a sacred site. It left me disheartened. For the price they charge, you’d expect infrastructure, care, and some form of real guardianship over the space. Instead, it’s a commercialized illusion—selling spirituality without honoring the spirit of the land. The staff were friendly and amazing, for what little you deal with them. For the price paid expect a long line up as there’s one entry point, one guy having you sign waivers and take payment. I left within the hour, even though I paid for the day. I paid resident pricing which was 900$ pesos for the Dia Fantastico. It wasn’t just disappointing. It felt like a disrespect to the land and the ancestors. If it wasn’t for the natural beauty, and the magic cenotes themselves bring and represent, it would have been a one star review. Nm the fact people can’t keep vapes out of their mouths longer than 2 min in a space amongst others and natural beauty. The lack of respect displayed by humanity alone completely killed the vibe.

We loved every minute of being in this parque and spent half of day there. We got lucky not to come during the high season and majority of time it was max another 2-4 people, or only us. An access fee is around 78€ for 2, but to be honest it was one of the rare places in Tulum where we really felt like it’s worth it. Very beautiful, nice, and relaxing.

Arrived by 11am so the cenote wasn’t crowded, we paid to just see the cenote but the other package includes a water slide of that’s your vibe.

This cenote is absolutely stunning! 😍 It’s a smaller, more intimate spot compared to other cenotes in the area, which makes the experience feel a bit more personal and peaceful 🌸. Just a heads up, there’s barely any cell service here 📵, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. It’s the kind of place where you want to disconnect and soak in the beauty around you 🌅. The cenote itself is gorgeous, the colors are incredibly vibrant 💙💚, and the water is crystal clear. If you enjoy swimming 🏊‍♀️, you’ll love it here. There’s a tiny island 🏝️ in the middle that you can easily swim to, which is such a fun little touch and perfect for relaxing or snapping a cool photo 📸. There are a few designated spots that are perfect for photos 📷💫, and the whole place feels very photogenic. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a beautiful, quiet cenote with a magical vibe! ✨🌊💖 Price: I think we paid 150 pesos each person when we were there.

Very beautiful spot! They have the “museum” option where you can walk through and it has nice backdrops for pictures. And the cenote itself was really nice! The water was cool (not too cold, but just right for how hot it was). It has a waterfall and a middle area where you can chill. The water is deep so your feet don’t get scraped on the rocks there. I recommend going around 10AM ish before it gets too crowded.
