Atlantic Grille

We were visiting the Newport area from Delaware to attend a wedding. We have eaten at this restaurant in the past and like before the price, the quality, the amount of food served, awesome customer service and atmosphere was 15 out of 10 stars. I had the Lobster and it was amazing, my wife ordered the Fried Scallops Dinner and received 8 huge scallops. As further testament my wife’s family is all from the area and raves about this awesome restaurant. It was so good we came back for breakfast the next morning and needless to say it was awesome. It is definitely a place where the locals come too dine and do I need to say more,

Had a great breakfast. I only had a simple meal, but it was delicious and I will be back soon. Very reasonable prices and tasty food.

Nice family place with plenty of parking. The food was good, not great. We had tthe artichoke salad and the seafood scampi. Chicken dish was bland, but was the better of the two dishes. Scampi lacked flavor and some of the lobster was too chewy to eat. Service was very good and prices are reasonable.

We decided to stop by here at the end of our vacation. What a treat! Food was delicious. Although the atmosphere is somewhat loud from all the people conversing. Place was packed! No outside tables although they are located right near the ocean. While it is not a place for a romantic dinner, it definitely is for a great meal!

Great for breakfast or lunch. Great food at a good price. The atmosphere is like a museum with many pictures, old signs, artifacts from the beaches and waterfronts around Newport.

The breakfast was very good. The portions are large. The spinach omelette and the banana pancakes are delicious. Will definitely visit this restaurant again.

The clam chowder was really good. I thought the lobster roll was okay. It wasn't really anything special, and the taste didn't really stand out that much here. I finished it off with an amazing Brownie Sundae that I shared with the family. Waitress was nice and polite. Straightforward with any questions asked.

Enjoyed our visit, the food was a smaller portion than I expected for $25 and no salad included. Also was disappointed no lemonade, had run out. The chicken was a little dry, but my wife enjoyed her chicken fajita. For a beach restaurant was good. Parking was good, and waitress was okay.

Atlantic Grille is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and can be considered a somewhat "hidden gem" due to the fact that it's not located right smack in Downtown Newport. Don't be afraid- it's just a short drive (10 minutes or so), and the Grille does have onsite parking. Even if there's a wait, don't let it deter you. The home cooked breakfast grub is truly worth it, and they turn tables pretty quickly, so you shouldn't be waiting for too long before you can sit in a comfy booth and dig into fluffy pancakes, perfect omelettes, and the best hash brown potatoes ever! The inside of the restaurant is casual, with surf inspired decor, chalkboards listing daily specials, and a full service bar with TVs broadcasting the latest game. Atlantic Grille is family friendly, so if you are looking for a chic girls brunch spot or something quiet and reserved, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for classic breakfast fare at a good price in a fun and convivial environment, this is the place to go. I love the Western Omelette with gooey cheese, crisp ham and fresh veggies, or the Eggs Benedict, which features perfectly poached eggs (kudos to the kitchen for nailing this every time). I also enjoy the fresh fruit bowl (nothing canned or sketchy), and we always have to get a Buttermilk Pancake as an appetizer (this is the "bread course!") This is a great family owned spot you'll want to add to your Aquidneck Island adventures- especially if you want to feel like a local!

What a yummy find! Everything our group ordered was delicious. I am still blown away by the portion sizes- no one will leave this table still hungry. A very cozy spot and for a bigger group the service was quite timely. Would definitely return here!

We used to frequent this place often and bring our kids and friends but quality and service seems to have gone downhill. Today we decided to give it a try. To start out our table was dirty even though it was set and they took us to that spot. We ordered breakfast food. My order wasn't what I ordered so they took it back and my husbands home fries were hard as a rock and burnt to a crisp! We nicely mentioned this to our waitress, showing them to her and she said oh that's how they make them! What? He couldn't even eat them. We're always bummed to have to cross a spot off our restaurant list but we won't be back.

Great local bar. Breakfast is delicious and offers many choices. The lunch menu has all the things you are looking for. Tuna melt (yummy) fish and chips or even nachos. Wide range of options and a great place to hang out on a rainy morning / afternoon.

Food was good. Clam chowder was tasty with chunks of clam and potatoes. My husband had the French onion and while it was good he said he missed the caramelized onions they have in other restaurants. We had the lobster mac and cheese bites and they were also quite good. The sauce made the bites even tastier. We finished it off with a scallop and bacon pizza which was cheesy, bacony and had some very tender scallops on it. Can't believe we ate it all! My pineapple bomb was tasty and the classic mojito, while heavy on the mint, was refreshing as well. Overall a delightful meal.

I ordered the lobster roll after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures. It was tasty, but fyi- it is not nearly as generous as the ones pictured in the past reviews, which was why I had ordered it in the first place. Service at the bar was friendly.

So good we dined here three times in two days! Huge breakfast menu and extensive lunch time offerings, all reasonably priced and with large portions. Very popular with the locals, always a good sign. Fast, friendly service in a casual atmosphere. Really a great joint.

The location is great however the service is slow and there is absolutely no seasoning on any aspect of the food. The salt and pepper we added from our table was the most seasoning any of the food saw. I won't be returning, I can find a location with seasonings down the road.

Solid food and provides breakfast lunch and dinner. Great Eggs Benedict- with lobster! Delicious omelette with lots of bacon and mushrooms. They don't overcook the omelette like some places. AWSOME! Great Fish and Chips too

Stopped here for a quick lunch. The place was busy but we didn't wait long. The ambiance is seafood everywhere and I assume they are known for that. We tried the loaded nachos for an app. This was piled high with cheese and chili. It was tasty and satisfying and plenty for a meal itself. We also tried the BLT chicken salad sandwich which sounded so good but the chicken salad reminded me of the type you get from the deli at the grocery store that was prepackaged. I would have like this to look and taste more like homemade chicken salad. The coleslaw was really tasty and the fries cooked well.

Around 11:45am, while visiting my brother on a Coast Guard security detail, we settled on Atlantic Grill. They serve breakfast until 2pm daily (we went on a Sunday). The restaurant was about half full; the hostess said it would be about a 10 to 15 min wait for a party of 5. We were still waiting for the other 2 to arrive, so we were fine waiting. The wait ended up being 5 mins. We were tucked in a corner where one half of the table had booth seating & the other had 2 chairs. The atmosphere is nice; lots of surfboards hanging on the walls & other nautical décor. The noise level was moderate. It appeared that other patrons were satisfied with their food & service. Our waitress was quick to take our drink orders & brought them right over. She knew that we were still waiting for the 2 others so it didn't bother us that she didn't ask us what we would like to order. About 15 mins later, they had arrived & again, she was quick to take the drink orders for them. We weren't quite ready to to order so she gave us a bit more time. We placed an order for the Will's Philly Nachos (full) - HUGE portion that the 5 of us couldn't finish! We had a mix of lunch & breakfast ordered. I had the Scallop Caesar salad. I was so full from the nachos I had to take my salad back with me, but I enjoyed the concept & the scallops were cooked well. My brother had the Beach Melt; it was PACKED with tuna! The french fries were pretty good (I stole one)! My mother had the Sam Adams Fish & Chips & she said it was delicious but she couldn't finish it. It was a decently sized piece of fish. The other 2 had breakfast; the pancakes were HUGE & fluffy. It looked like the corned beef hash was made in-house. I felt like when were finished & it was obvious, our waitress seemed to be absent for quite some time. We were all chatting & catching up so that filled the time, but if we had somewhere to be...well, then we might've been impatient, to say the least. Another waitress came by to clear some of our plates, which we appreciated because they were all over the table. I don't visit Newport, RI & it was my first time there, so I can't say I'd go back. However, in the off chance I do visit again, I would return & try some things off of the breakfast menu.

I have been a fan of high quality seafood since 12 yrs old. My parents taught me very well how to dine & enjoy a well balanced menu. I have been a customer of Atlantic Grille since winter of 2010. I've been a fan, since the summer of 2011! I've brought Loyal Narragansett Bay seafood dining fans over the Newport Bridge to try their cuisine! They were impressed. Whenever I want to treat myself to a great Broiled or Pan Seared Balsamic or Teriyaki or Plain Salmon Dinner, this is one of my GoTo places in the Middle of Chaos & overpriced " grills & taverns" in City by the Ocean Newport RI. Where you get quality food & quality services & staff ! The Clientele aren't likely to hoot or howl or make a public nuisance or complain or embarrassing scene. Quiet & Class yet sporty & casual & comfortable. ENJOY ! Bon Appeti^te!

Such a friendly restaurant! We visited on our way out from vacation and was not disappointed. The Irish eggs Benny were pretty good too. I would return even for just the service.

Service was amazing. Pancakes were perfect. Bacon was crispy. Coffee was hot & delicious. What more do you want out of a breakfast spot? Oh, and the business was spotless. Cool surfer vibe, too! Open early, friendly staff.

I wish 0 stars was an option. After dining here tonight I am ABSOLUTELY FLABBERGASTED. Wow. I'm at a loss for words. Where should I start? The waitress having a public meltdown on us? Or messing up my order twice? Waiting 10 minutes to have an opportunity to even address the wrong food brought out the first time? Having to beg for a dinner menu and not a breakfast menu at 6pm. Please never support this business. I have been a frequent eater at this "establishment." I am extremely disappointed and shocked how the waitress has the audacity to tell me "don't eat it then" or "don't be so rude" as if I was a kindergartener acting up and she was the mean teacher. The rest of my family also had to pay after being so rudely treated. - I never did get to eat nor was I offered something else. I will not be returning. Unfortunate but the service has been on a steady decline the past year or so. All good things must come to an end I guess.

In the mood for a hot breakfast and this spot was in walking distance from Newport Beach hotel, right up the road. The place is pretty large inside and is a nautical theme of course since it's right on beach. Good menu for breakfast, all sort of selections, had the Irish Benedict with home fries, not bad, home fries a bit undercooked, but it was ok, prices are decent and staff is fast on their feet and friendly. Not too bad, it was crowded in January so can't imagine it's not packed in Summer. I'd come back here.

The Atlantic Grill was a recommendation while we were staying at our bungalow here in the Middletown/Newport Rhode Island area. It was an amazing experience five stars, we ordered breakfast here and had excellent service, the place is super clean, amazing food surf piping hot coffee came around twice and fun atmosphere. This is a top-notch place to experience a seafood dining on the wharf!!!

Local joint with great food and service that keeps you smiling! Bar seating or dining room is great- can't go wrong! Nice variety of food.

Adequate. Family style restaurant at the Denny's quality level. Don't expect fresh seafood. I'm pretty sure it's all from frozen. It's food . Not much else to say about it.

Host person scratched our name off the list but never called our name. We waited by the podium next to her all that time. A group who signed in after us went before us- we were like wait what? Went up and asked and all she could say was sorry I got you all mixed up with another group. Food was delicious as we waited like 45 min to get our food! Only to find out Debra NEVER placed our order! Everyone around seemed to have left and ate as we waited and waited! SERVICE WAS ATROCIOUS! The only time Debra came was to give us the bill & pick up our plates! We just hope you have better service and do not sit in Debra's section. And keep your eye on the host.

I was in Rhode Island and someone suggested Atlantic Grille for breakfast. It was fantastic. One of the best omelets I've had. There were four of us and we all thought it was great food.

We visited Atlantic Grill while visiting Rhode Island to see family. The nautical themed restaurant was perfect for the touristy Newport area. We had reservations so we were seated almost immediately even though the space was pretty full. Our waitress was friendly and efficient; she checked in on us often while never feeling rushed. We wanted lobsters. Three of our four ordered lobster rolls and I had a stuffed lobster. While tasty, the lobster rolls didn't come close to the photos on their website. The pic has a round bun piled high with fresh meat. This one as you can see in the photo was in a small hot dog roll. The meat wasn't heaping; for when we put it in the bun, it barely broke the surface of the surface of the roll. For $27, expected a bit more. They all liked it don't get me wrong, just didn't seem enough. The stuffed lobster was not the old fashioned type with a lot of stuffing but it was full of lobster claws, shrimp and scallops. The lobster and filling was cooked perfectly. A deal at $34. I was completely satisfied. We also had two apps. The fried ravioli didn't have any description and when it arrived, it was seasoned with plenty of truffle. It was good but as half my party didn't like truffle, so sort of a waste. The fried calamari although mostly small pieces was quite tasty with fried banana peppers and a sweet hot dipping sauce. Oddly enough it included pieces of fried pineapple. I don't recall noting it was a Caribbean themed item so it made no sense. The peppers and pineapple appeared as a filler which we tried but didn't eat. We like our calamari straight up! :) Overall, not a bad meal and certainly try for yourself. We were in the touristy Newport area so $220 for four people with tip was expected. We've been for breakfast and definitely prefer that to dinner.

I have been coming here for years. Always busy especially on the weekends. Little known fact, you can call now and make a reservation. You can have breakfast or lunch. Great for you and your companions that want something different. Love the banana pancakes, they always hit the spot. They have an extensive "BENNY " menu. I love the veggie BENNY. Sometimes they have a BENNY on special. Home fries were crispy just like I love them. They also have a bar for those friends that would love a mimosa or Bloody Mary. Go hungry and take your leftovers home.

Food is very good but the servers are so rude. Heard them bitching and swearing about customers at waitress station and just rude to customers. Might be time to clean house. The waitstaff acts like you are bothering them. We came with a party and most were disappointed in the service. As I said food is very good but waitstaff needs to go.

Good food and lots of choices! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

We stopped in the Saturday before Thanksgiving for a later dinner after arriving in Newport. Our hotel was just down the street, and it had pretty good reviews (as opposed to another restaurant down the street affiliated with our hotel). The meal was warm and filling, which we needed after a long drive from Washington, DC. I had the baked cod with potatoes and asparagus (plus a side salad), and my partner had the scallops. I overall enjoyed the meal, but the cod was a bit off; a bit chewy. My partner didn't have any complaints about the scallops. The best part about the experience was our server. She was incredibly friendly, made great recommendations on the menu, and went out of the way for her customers. I also adored the beach-themed decor. It's worth a stop if you're looking for somewhere to go in Newport that won't be crazy expensive or crowded!

BEST lobster roll. Hands down. We eat these wherever we can and these sandwiches are stuffed with lobster.

Our food was fantastic. The clam chowder and lobster quesadillas with the bacon were awesome. The cod was light and tasty. Debbie C. took care of us and was great ! This is a great place to come with a few or many. We've gone with our college aged kids and their friends in a large group, with a few friends or just 2 of us. Great place. Friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Came for dinner during the week and had a little wait but definitely wasn't long. Kelsey was our waiter and she was phenomenal! I had the lobster with a salad. Husband had the fish and chips and kids had chicken fingers with fries. All was delicious!! Good selection of adult beverages! Glad they had some seltzers! We will definitely be back! I hear they are good for brunch so maybe then for a different perspective!

Food and service was great. During our trip to Newport went here twice! Lobster is amazing as well as there breakfast! We did have to wait about 20 minutes for breakfast but it was worth it! They have a great Friendly staff and great ambiance. Restaurant is kept super clean and very decorative for a cool beach side restaurant! Definitely recommend. Prices are very reasonable and not going to kill the bank.

Food (5/5): Really tasty food with good portions. The clam chowder was especially delicious with generous serving of clam. The Quahog and Fish and chips were also good. Not sure how this place got 4 stars. Less than average for sure. Maybe that's what you expect in a small beach town.

A cute place to grab breakfast/lunch on the weekends. Locals recommended this place for our group so we decided to check it out. 45 min wait at 11am on a Sunday, but we decided to wait it because of the reviews on their food. Three stars due to their service. The restaurant is pretty large, but was only half full when we arrived and at the same capacity when we were seated 45 minutes later. Waitress was quick to take our food and drinks orders but it took 45 minutes everything to arrive - and this was AFTER someone in our group got up to inquire about the wait. The food immediately showed up but was already cold. The pancakes and Belgian waffles were not fluffy, rather rubbery and floppy. Bacon was still crispy but cold, so the fat solidified (kind of gross now that I say it). The toast was buttered in the kitchen so it was soggy, not crunchy upon arrival. The only halfway decent thing was the home fries and the strength of their coffee (along with unlimited refills). The other tables that shared the same waitress didn't even get a chance to order in the 45 minutes that she was MIA. Maybe we got there on the waitress' off day or maybe the restaurant isn't suited to handle visitors as the summer season comes to an end, but it was a disappointing last meal in Newport.

Great and friendly service that meets good food! The meal was on point and coffee was warm and soothing to the soul, especially with some Jameson added. The location was good, tucked away from the busy streets so parking was readily available. I enjoyed eating at the park and the ambiance was relaxed and quiet to enjoy my meal.

If you want a good breakfast spot, come here! Their breakfast is delicious and fresh! The portion sizes were perfect. Everything was reasonably priced. We had: Gooseberry Beach- two any style eggs with a bowl of fresh fruit with yogurt and granola Veggie egg white omelette- it had fresh spinach, peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and white cheddar You're missing out if you don't come here.

I'm on the fence about Atlantic Grille. The food tasted good, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance was inviting. My biggest issue (and reason for three stars) was the service. The server we had was terrible. When we walked in, she scolded us for "not calling ahead to tell them we had a group of nine coming in." I can empathize with serving a large group, but there was only one other group at the restaurant at the time, so it wasn't that big of a deal. The remainder of our time dining, we could hear her complaining about how many people were in our group and how she couldn't believe we hadn't called ahead. I would give Atlantic Grille a second chance as long as we didn't have the same server.

Great local place. Good food and drinks. Terrific bartenders and waitstaff. Always a pleasure to be there.

Thankfully, this place does cut in half their tomatoes on their salads, if you know what I mean.

During our last visit, we had a great lunch meal. The salads were excellent. Large size, fresh ingredients, nice dressing. The Briarwood burger was outstanding. My friend Jim said..it's one of the best burgers I've had in a long time ! That was just perfect. The fries are always crispy and warm. Great service as well. Nice private parking area.

We loved the Atlantic Grille. The portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable (October 2022). I had the bake stuffed lobster tail that was full of shrimp and lobster. We completely over ordered! The waitstaff was helpful as we asked questions about unfamiliar items, hence the over ordering. We also found the other patrons to be really fun to talk to. I highly recommend, we will be back in October 2023!

Best breakfast anywhere on the Island! Their Spring Omelette isn't on the menu, but it's delicious. It's made with Asparagus l!

Service good, most food is good but be careful of the Pepperoni Pizza, it has always been loaded with meat until this past weekend....must be a new "pizza chef" and had only two pieces we could identify. We should have sent it back, but we were so hungry.... We told the server lady and the lady who serves the food, but they were not sympathetic or helpful. Not worth $17 as it was basically a burned cheese pizza. Send it back if you order it and not covered with meat.

All in all great food , great service and a great laid back atmosphere. I will definitely be returning for breakfast during my next stay in Newport .

Food was great when ever we are in Middletown it's a must go for us. The family did take out and everything was perfect.

Food was very good with many quality options. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant.

This place is a must go for breakfast. We went on a Friday morning and we were able to get a table right away. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak omelet, breakfast bowl (egg, potatoes, sausage, bacon, tomato with gravy) and a side of corned beef hash. The two entrees were of high quality and very tasty. Each entree could have easily fed two people. The side of corned feed hash was good but not spectacular like the rest of our meal. We would definitely come back for breakfast here!

This is the best seafood restaurant on Aquidneck island. Prices reasonable service is ridiculously prompt and courteous. Place is so cool inside and out. Right on the street across from the beach it's fabulous. Chowders tasty and hardy. Seafood whether a stand alone piece or seafood medley in a sauce is all traditional New England. I always recommend it to newcomers

Food was delicious as always! As a Salve alum, I used to take advantage of being super close to this restaurant. My favorite breakfast in Newport! Staff was friendly, welcoming and understanding. We sat at the bar and I asked them to add a little juice to my beverage to make it sweeter and it was no problem. Just like I remember it! Location is always a bonus, as the views from any seat in the house are beautiful- big windows with open view beaches
