Atlantic Grille is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and can be considered a somewhat "hidden gem" due to the fact that it's not located right smack in Downtown Newport. Don't be afraid- it's just a short drive (10 minutes or so), and the Grille does have onsite parking.
Even if there's a wait, don't let it deter you. The home cooked breakfast grub is truly worth it, and they turn tables pretty quickly, so you shouldn't be waiting for too long before you can sit in a comfy booth and dig into fluffy pancakes, perfect omelettes, and the best hash brown potatoes ever!
The inside of the restaurant is casual, with surf inspired decor, chalkboards listing daily specials, and a full service bar with TVs broadcasting the latest game. Atlantic Grille is family friendly, so if you are looking for a chic girls brunch spot or something quiet and reserved, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for classic breakfast fare at a good price in a fun and convivial environment, this is the place to go.
I love the Western Omelette with gooey cheese, crisp ham and fresh veggies, or the Eggs Benedict, which features perfectly poached eggs (kudos to the kitchen for nailing this every time). I also enjoy the fresh fruit bowl (nothing canned or sketchy), and we always have to get a Buttermilk Pancake as an appetizer (this is the "bread course!")
This is a great family owned spot you'll want to add to your Aquidneck Island adventures- especially if you want to feel like a local!
