This is a wonderful place to stay, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet and/or wildlife focused stay on Ilha Grande.||The lodge is nestled at one end of a small bay, and stretches up the hillside. During the middle of the day there is some foot-traffic on the beach, heading for Lopes Mendez beach (20 mins walk away), but in the morning and evening there is literally no-one else around. When it rained it felt like we had the whole end of Ilha Grande entirely to ourselves. There is easy access to the walking trails, and an amazing amount of wildlife within easy reach. ||The lodge is small (just 4 rooms, we were the only guests on our first night) and has a very laid back and friendly 'family-run' atmosphere. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and some have a really nice outlook. The dining area has an amazing view across the bay - for breakfast, or just for a drink in the afternoon. ||The food was absolutely outstanding. Breakfasts were, for us, perfect (yoghurt, granola, pastries/cakes, bread/meat/cheese, eggs to order). Dinners, which need to be ordered early (since there might only be two guests!), were delicious. ||We were unlucky in getting a couple of days of rain, but that is really the only negative I can think of!
