Atlantic's Edge Restaurant

A MUST! Not only is the resort beautiful but so is the food and open waterfront dining. We tried the shrimp burger, AMAZING! The key lime pie is a tart so that should be correctly stated, flavorful nonetheless. If nothing else, stop for a nice walk about the grounds right on the beach, and spend a bit of time decompressing at this lovely little restaurant, where the service, food, and atmosphere do not disappoint.

This is advertised as "fine dining", and while the design of the restaurant and the ocean view meets the standards of a fine dining establishment, the service, food and atmosphere does not. We were seated, it took 20 minutes for someone to bring water and take our drink order. Another 15 minutes before our waters and wine arrived...and after placing our food order it took another hour to get our food. The restaurant was not busy. Our server disappeared after taking our food order and didn't come check to see if we wanted more water or other beverages after we ran out while we waited for our food. The food quality has considerably gone down hill, which is such a shame because this was one of my favorites restaurants. It's now mediocre at best and I seriously question the freshness of the fish. The ambiance is like a Chucky Cheese with kids running around and the guitar player playing "Old McDonald Had a Farm" and the kids sang loudly. I'm all for including kids, but again, this is not indicative of a fine dining restaurant. The staff moved tables while we were eating, which was loud, and I didn't see any reason for the urgency considering nobody else came to sit at those tables. It's a shame to see one of the finer restaurants in the Keys decline so rapidly. When i pay high prices for food and drink I expect an element of class and quality, neither of which Atlantic's Edge offers anymore.

This was a great place to eat right at the restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. I would give it five star for the food. It was a great environment and we got to sit right out in the ocean side beach to look at the Atlantic I had inside or outside dining we chose outsidethe staff was nice friendly, quick and courteous

I visited this restaurant on Christmas and the experience was extremely disappointing. The food was far below expectations. The chicken was poorly prepared and completely unseasoned, and the filet appeared to be old, with an unpleasant taste and texture. On top of that, the drinks were poorly balanced, with far too much ice and very little alcohol, which felt like an attempt to cut costs. Considering the date, the prices, and the restaurant’s positioning, the overall experience was very negative. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it.

It seemed that we were inconveniencing her with our presence. Instead, I said hello, and informed her we had reservations. She was looking over my shoulder the whole time, maybe looking for her other hostess(who had both AirPods in the entire time we were there)? Not sure, but it didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing. She asked for our name, but didn’t ever look at her ipad to confirm anything. We called previously to reserve a waterside table, which was not available when we arrived. I moved past the table issue & tried not to let it get to me, even though it is our anniversary and I called specifically to get that arranged for us. Then it took probably 10 minutes for our server to stop by the table. She also seemed to be talking to a table for the first time. We got our order in, and then waited AN HOUR for a medium filet & fried fish to arrive. That’s when we drew the line. The potatoes were ice cold, my filet was cut into pieces… and there was a VERY obvious black hair on my plate. We waited a good 5 minutes before the server came to check on us, and obviously it’s not her fault so we asked to speak to a manager. We could see him the whole time all of our issues were going on, because he was standing at a table with an older couple, who also had many problems. Our poor server tried to get his attention for at least 5 minutes, but he didn’t even look up at her. What a shame. I am not exaggerating, three other tables had problems with their food, out of the maybe fifteen tables in the whole restaurant. As someone who has worked in the service industry their whole life, do better. What a joke of a restaurant this is. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. The hype does not match what you are getting. The WORST service I have ever had. One star is more than I’d give this establishment. 0 stars for 0 dinner. Left hungry and went to Chef Michael’s, where the service has been phenomenal from the moment we stepped on property!

Fantastic restaurant! Service is great, view was relaxing. Food was amazing, from appetizers to desert. This is a must try when in the area. Really enjoyed everything about the restaurant. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

Best view on the town for dinner! Had an wonderful date night with girlfriend for our first evening in The Keys. If you love seafood, try the octopus for a appetizer and I highly recommend the scallop and shrimp entree. Our server Matt was incredibly attentive and knew the menu very well. The desserts we tried were outrageously delicious too. Chocolate lovers get the hazelnut chocolate bomb and of course the key lime pie is a must in the keys. All this while listening to live guitar on the oceanfront. Reservations were easy to make online. They have a valet option for parking. All staff is friendly at the resort and gladly answered any questions we had. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

My husband and I decided to try Atlantic's Edge for our Anniversary. Our waitress was very quiet but warmed up by the end. We had the Churrasco skirt steak, Garden salad with grilled chicken, Mocha Martini, cappuccino and an amazing dessert. Everything was wonderful and would definitely return. The view was perfect. If you're in a rush this isn't the restaurant for you because it does take a while for everything. The Millers...

Great patio dining at Cheeca Lodge and Spa! With incredible views no matter where you sit and very friendly service! They only serve breakfast until 11am which stinks because on vacation we like to sleep in. We ended up ordering burgers and they were tasty! One of the many dining options here... Highly recommend!!

Great service. Good breakfast. Dinner was terrible and I was very disappointed. Ordered whole lobster topped with crab. Came with a crab (maybe) mixture on top of tail that had not been removed from shell. Had to scrape off the mixture and dig out meat as best I could.

Why is one of the most beautiful physical plants, for a restaurant, with STUNNING views, struggling to get to a four star rating? Located in the Cheeca Lodge Hotel, one of the oldest, and now one of the grandest resorts in the Keys, period, Atlantic's Edge falls victim to the owners' understanding of what a resort should be. A place is only as good as the people in it. Five star look. Three star hospitality, at best. Four star food, at six star prices. Breakfast/brunch is the best time to take in the view, other than a pre-sunset dining experience. I've been coming here for 20+ years. The dining room is a bit like a roller coaster. With the right chef, and a tighter staff? It can really rock. At the moment? It's more of a psychic: A medium. Hospitality: They have tried to address the ago-old problem of the Keys. It's hard enough to find someone who will show up to work: on time; sober. To fix this problem, they bring in a ton of H1-B visa workers, mostly from the Caribbean. Some of them are really wonderful. They "get" hospitality, and do it with warmth, and human connection. The majority, though, are doing the job that they're told to do, but without any heart, soul, or desire to be there doing it. Many seem a little afraid of the people that they're serving, and speaking out of turn. If you choose to engage them, and they realize that it's okay, they open up, quite a bit. The problem is that that level of "friendly" should be 100% of the time, every day. You're "on" in the five-star hotel game, every time you hit the building. This, sadly, Cheeca charges for, but doesn't deliver. At a cheaper hotel? That wouldn't be noticed. At a resort that aspires to the category of hotel that this should be? Very noticeable. My egg white frittatas took about 15 minutes to order, and another 20 to show up. The waiter asked me for bread choice? I said English muffin. Out came whole grain toast. The dropper had no idea what to do about the mistake. He was going to take the whole thing BACK, which would have seen it stone cold, on arrival. I suggested that he should ask for a muffin, instead, and let the waiter know. The muffin showed up, as I was done. The waiter had no idea, and didn't really know what to do/say about it either. Bad write of the ticket? Bad read in the kitchen? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Service, at competence, is a problem with most Keys restaurants, the Square Grouper, and Ziggie and Mad Dog's, obvious standout exceptions to the Keys Rule, that proves that it can be done here. When the Lodge took over Pierre's, a couple of years ago? It was once the other top destination restaurant in Islamorada, and the Keys, they crashed it, within months, with the same thing. Imported workers who aren't screened for hospitality, and don't have the chops, in terms of their interactions with other people, to do a five-star job. At the five-star prices? It's kind of insulting, unless... People will always come to a beautiful place like this. Ownership's message to you is EXPECT LESS. You'll get used to it, while we charge you as if you were at Torrey Pines, or another hotel that delivers the over-the-top hospitality, that a place like Cheeca Lodge, and its restaurants, should be more than capable of rising to, at the nightly room rates/ food/bar charges.

5 star ambience and food, but poor service. We sat outside with live music on a Friday night. We waited about 15 minutes for our server to arrive. The service continued at a 1 star level with the waitress forgetting to bring 2 beers and waiting over an hour for our entrees to arrive. Manager made it right by comping 2 entrees and free dessert. The blackened grouper was excellent

Ok the food and view are worth the every single penny! So fresh and great flavors. Presentation was top notch. Obviously the view speaks for itself. Located into the cheeca lodge resort, it's one of five onsite restaurants available. They offer covered seating, patio and beach seating. We came for a later lunch when we arrived (around 1:30) and sat in the garden patio area. 4 out of 5 only because it took 20 minutes for someone to come by and greet us. We had to flag them down for service. After that, everything was splendid!

Dishes were not prepared as described; bland bony fish, pea and prosciutto salad missing the peas and the creme fraiche. No attempts to rectify when we mentioned it. It gives White Lotus, so it makes sense that a resort for the wealthy would be lacking in taste just like their patrons. SAD!

Very impressive restaurant in the Cheeca Lodge, and you can visit even if you're not staying at the hotel. My friends and I went for a special birthday dinner and it was really nice to sit right by the water and watch the moon rise over the Atlantic Ocean while we ate our meal. The food is definitely upscale (with prices to match), but the portions are really decent. We got the Octopus appetizer which was amazing...really the best part of the meal! I then opted for the Blackened Grouper and a side of the Parmesan Cheese Fries (sides are all separate), both of which were very good. Another person in our group got the 10 oz. Filet which looked gorgeous on the plate. The service was very professional, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and all the specials that night. Atlantic's Edge is a nice change of pace from the typical fried seafood joints all across the island, perfect for a special occasion or a date night.

Nice but the food was cold. Bread should be warm - no bread plates and no butter. Not many people in restaurant so we are not sure why it took so long to get food. Recommend for cocktails. We went to listen to David feder's. He was a wonderful guitar player.

Could not ask for a better evening. The view of the Atlantic Ocean was incomparable. I had the red snapper that was seasoned beautifully. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. This restaurant will not disappoint.

Service and view are amazing!!! Staying at the Cheeca Lodge in the main building so it's a nice treat to just walk down to the patio and have dinner. Our server was incredibly friendly. We didn't wait long to be greeted or the food to arrive even contrary to what ppl say about service in the Keys. My husband and I both got the yellowtail snapper and it was good. I eat a lot of seafood so I can not say it was great but it was good! We also ordered mashed potatoes, mushrooms and creamed spinach. I did not like the mushrooms, they were fried and not what I expected but likely my fault did not reading the menu closer. My hubby love the creamed spinach. Overall, nice experience and try again for brunch.

Don't bother coming here. Sat 15 minutes with no service. Had to ask 3 people for service and still nothing. Asked for the manager and never arrived. We left without the manager ever arriving. I would zero stars

after spending 2 months in islamorada as we do every year , we decided to go to Atlantic edge to celebrate our 4 year anniversary . I totally regret my choice . We have been here before and tonight I was very disappointed. I ordered a chopan martini and got a glass of chopan (not a martini ) , ordered mussels for appetizer and they were over cooked . Very disappointed! I ordered a garden salad with grilled shrimp that were undercooked . My boyfriend ordered pork chops that were all fat . He never sends anything back and had to send them back cause they were NOT edible . In turn , he ordered skirt steak which was not even ok ... as a side we ordered cream of spinach which was terrible . We eat out a lot and have no problem spending money on a great meal , 250 later and probably the worst meal I have had in islamorada. I will never go back !

Staying at Cheeca Lodge. Dined at Atlantic, shared the mahi, the garden salad, the crab cakes, and the shrimp & scallops. With two mojitos (Cuban classic, were excellent) and an espresso, the bill came in just under $200. There was live music on the terrace. Service was fine and the servers were friendly enough. I personally didn't love the shrimp and scallops, the salad, mahi and crabcakes were fine. Based on our enthusiasm of the meal, we declined dessert and went out to Key's Chocolate & Ice Cream. ‍ Update: Returned the following morning, around 7:30am on 12/21, for breakfast. The cheeca breakfast (two eggs any style, choice of toast and breakfast meat was simple and perfect, everything fresh... the staff are all so friendly, especially our server, Bree! I've never had honey in my coffee but it was quite good on her recommendation! Breakfast for two came to about $60. Updating rating from 3 to 5 stars.

I stopped by Atlantic's Edge restaurant located in the Cheeca Lodge & Spa for breakfast. The rooms are tops, the staff super attentive and the food very good, though I would not say exceptional. Maybe my expectations were too high, but after all this is the Keys where unique culinary arts first really took place in the form of Fusion of New World ingredients using old world culinary techniques and the now well-known Floribbean. They did offer an Alligator Reef Lobster Blt Omelet but I only found spiney back lobster in it, I also tried their Classic Eggs Benedictine which was to have been made with a "Drizzled with Key Lime Hollandaise Sauce." Trust me, the "Drizzle" was just that, a mere drizzle, hardly topping the egg, and the ham, really skimpy thin as well as over cooked to the point of having a shoe leather texture. The place us, however, drop-dead gorgeous, overlooking the beach itself makes a stop at Atlantic's Edge totally worthwhile. Though everything is really very nice it's the beachside setting that makes it.

We chose Cheeca Lodge for a company award trip when travel to the BVIs was not possible. The first night on property, we had dinner at Atlantic's Edge. This was to be our celebration dinner for this getaway. There were some pros and some cons. The setting is amazing! Outdoor seating overlooking a beach and the marina area. A very nice live musician playing soft background music. However after being seated, we were given no menus or utensils. We sat for at least 10 minutes before being greeted. Then had to ask for said menus and utensils. Our party of six had a lot. Multiple appetizers, steaks, fish, etc. along with champagne, wine, beer and cocktails. A very hefty tab to say the least. The food was good but not great. The service was subpar. The server was so slow to get to us and didn't know a lot about the menu options. We did sit for a bit, but also some of that was due to how long the meal took. They started turning off the outdoor heaters around us. So rude. I only took photos of mine and my husband's meals. The shrimp cocktail and the crab cakes were really good for the appetizers but the octopus was way over cooked. Fish entrees were OK but a tad dry. Steaks were pretty good. I would try it again and hope for better service.

I had breakfast here today and thought it would be good but it was pretty amazing. It was the best everything bagel I've had which surprising because I lived in New York for years and never thought I'd have my best bagel in the Florida keys. It was ALSO one of the best oatmeals I've ever had (so flavorful with the brûlée touch) and the scrambled eggs were so fluffy. Seriously, everything was A+. Oh and the beach view is breathtaking.

the restaurant service is awful, we dined here on March 16th at Atlantic and Claire was EXTREMELY rude, did not want to answer any of our questions, had a rude tone to anything we asked, and then when given the espresso we ordered she did not want to bring a spoon to stir the sugar and asked if we could use the FORK (which we used to eat) to stir the sugar with in our espresso.... When she served us the espresso she stated "can you use your fork to stir, thanks" and left. For the price you are paying to stay at the resort plus the pricey restaurant you would expect an elevated dinning service and not a rude waitress that refuses to bring you a spoon to stir your sugar in your coffee. Such an unpleasant experience. On the other hand, when we went for breakfast they were nice and we had another waitress so that was actually a good experience. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. The opposite of what we had experienced the night before.

Beautiful in every aspect. I sat outside and the view and service was perfect. The avocado toast was good and had a bit of a spicy flare which I love. Great presentation! A beautiful and relaxing start to my morning. Xoxo

Staying here at Cheeca Lodge has been magnificent overall and one of the high points of this resort is Atlantic edge restaurant. The food is superb! We have eaten here twice already and have not been disappointed by a single component of our dining experience here. The outdoor seating on the water is fantastic the hostess, the waitstaff are wonderful!! We've ordered wine, several appetizers and entrées, on both of our dining occasions and they were all amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I am going to try my best to keep this short but that may be impossible. We had reservations Thursday night at 630 for 4. Our first server ignored us and literally just kept ignoring us. Finally 45 minutes later we got a new server after I complained to a random server. No one in my party even had a drink till 745. Appetizers were sub par at best. The dinners were mediocre as well. They keep this restaurant so poorly lit you cant even see your meal. However, the kicker is when the server would not even hand us the check. She readily asked us to play credit card roulette and wouldn't hand us the check. We kept saying no we would like to see check she then gave it to another waiter who handed it to us and walked away. My party and I were looking at each other in disbelief. What is going on here? Then we see we were charged incorrectly for our wine. Charged for a bottle of Jordan instead of Justin which is almost double the price. Took another 30 minutes for them to figure it out. Finally a manager (2+ hours later) decided to introduce herself to us and "fix" things when the night was over. At that point we all just wanted to leave and go home. The night was ruined. Points consider - Did not get a single drink for 60 minutes then apps in almost 75 - Apps were not good. Shrimp cocktail was not fresh steak was chewy and bland - Server attempted to get us to pay without seeing check, then 30+ plus minutes later we finally got to leave - Restaurant lowered bill from $500 or so to $294...Meal should of been free, HORRIBLE service, mediocre food, and servers who are unwilling to provide itemized checks Do your self a favor and DO NOT go here. We were really excited because the place is beautiful but the staff is inept at there jobs. Manager, hostesses, wait staff no one could careless. Cutting our bill in 1/2 did nothing to make up for a poor night.

Decided to end my Florida trip at a posh restaurant. This place lives up to my wishes and then some. I came here specifically for the seafood bounty im coconut lemongrass garlic broth. I actually didn't see that it had coconut until I got here. I was now sceptical but no matter. It. Was. Delicious. This is not like a Thai curry or something like that. The sweetness of the coconut was front and center, garlic secondary. The shellfish went so well with it though. The coconut blended especially well with the shrimp and lobster. And I didn't find am overcooked mussel or clam in the bunch. The ambiance is great. The resort patio was beautiful as was the view of the ocean. The staff was very accommodating. They even brought me a heater!

Atlantic's Edge at Cheeca Lodge was the best lunch experience we've had recently in the the Keys! The service was delightful, Patricia was an absolute sweetheart and the whole team was very kind. The food was so delicious and above and beyond the quality found anywhere else on the island. The snapper sandwich is our new favorite fish sandwich! The blackened snapper was super fresh on a toasted bun, the roasted tomatoes and arugula took this sandwich to a whole new level of quality! The restaurant made my mother's birthday so special and the whole family had a great time.

We had dinner here after our son got married. There were just six of us, but we were treated like royalty. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. I had a seafood combo with a coconut- lemon grass - garlic sauce and sushi rice. It's the absolute best meal I have had in years! No exaggeration. Mercedes, our server, helped to make the night special and was always there when we needed something. If we come back to the Keys, we will come back here...and I will eat the same thing!

So much right yet so wrong. The ambiance was great. Great ocean view at upper crust resort. Free roses for Valentine's Day. Arugula Parmesan salad was excellent. Pork chop was very good. Pricey for what we got. Foot traffic walking through the restaurant- bad flow there. The service was subpar for such a high end place. We didn't see our server for close to 30 minutes and thus could not share that my husband needed a steak knife or that my grouper was not fully cooked in the middle. I could see other servers were taking to their tables explaining the menu items and was very attentive- just not ours.

The whole experience was bizarre starting off with an aggressive security team at the gate putting bracelets on folks coming in who were just there to eat. The service was awful, food meh. The security folks in golf carts with bright lights followed us out after eating and honked horns if they felt like our 15 year old was wandering. So weird, nothing fancy at this place. They kept saying, you only paid for dinner, now leave. STRANGE, I would not go here, hit up Chef Michaels instead. BTW: 20% tip auto included for 6 people.

The ABSOLUTE worst meal I have ever had. The $70 Ribeye I ordered showed up as a slab covered in disgusting brown sauce, and was definitely NOT a ribeye. TOTALLY inedible. Like shoe leather. My husband had the chicken with the same awful brown sauce on it. My daughter's fish had scales and bones in it. HORRIFIC. This is my first review, I never send food back or complain but this was beyond horrible. Luckily we stopped at the Shrimp Shack and got some takeout on the way home. And the bill was outrageously expensive and we frequent high end restaurants. The wait staff was abysmal, not knowing who ordered what and not checking on guests. Steer clear of this dive!

We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the Cuban sandwich. The shrimp was so fresh and I loved the coconut cocktail dipping sauce. My boyfriend loved the Cuban sandwich and the French fries were nice and crispy. We will definitely come back soon.

Gorgeous views and the food was excellent too. Brought a small group here for lunch and everyone loved their meal. Service was attentive and professional. For lunch I had the snapper sandwich with arugula and lemon aioli ($20). Loved it! A side of crispy fries served in a dry basket was included Nice presentation. The key lime pie was a favorite also. But the real star was the view and the ambiance.

Great view! We wanted to find a place with great ambience, and this place did not disappoint. There was only one, small disturbance during our dinner because of an intoxicated guest. If our table had been further from the tiki bar, we would not have even noticed. The restaurant is located in the Cheeca Resort and very easy to find. For dinner, we started with their Local Greens which contained lots of delicious heirloom tomatoes. For entrees, we ordered the Herb Crusted Seared Grouper and Mojito Lime Snapper. The grouper was super meaty and was placed on top of a large, green and yellow bed of edamame and corn. The snapper was well-seasoned and came with a large portion of cilantro rice. The grouper dish was delicious, but I do think the cilantro rice paired with the snapper was slightly dry and needed more flavoring. For dessert, we shared the tasty key lime pie which was bigger than we anticipated. I would recommend having an early dinner and then taking an after dinner stroll along the water.

The ambiance is amazing. Jamson our waiter was really nice and attentive. Apps were really good. My dinner came out cold but tasty. My girlfriend wanted to take food to go from her meal but the waiter cleared it without asking if we wanted to take anything home with us. My wine said it was $26 a glass in the menu but it came to $30 a glass on the bill. Also my Lemon drop martini was made with a salt rim and I when we said something about it they just brought us a sugar rum glass instead of re making it and I still couldn't drink it. Overall great place to just look out at the ocean but for what you are paying for price wise you are better off eating somewhere else. This only gets 3 stars because of the impeccable view and ambiance.

My wife and some friends decided to get out of town for a day, so this place was recommended. There's access to the beach area through the restaurant and you can just relax and mellow out with a few drinks. That was the idea, to disconnect, get some sun and beach and then head back home. Our primary focus was to come and enjoy the view and restaurant, there was no disappointment there. Warning though, since heading to the Keys is 1 lane in and 1 lane out, during a holiday season, be prepared to deal with traffic. A good amount. We looked at fellow Yelper reviews and went with the famous lobster quesadilla and a version of a grilled cheese with lobster. To begin with, this isn't your typical small pieces of lobster that are hidden in bread and condiments. No, these are chunks of lobster, you pay for what you get, it's over $15 but it's well worth it if your in the mood for lobster. Your in the beach, it's hot, so a cold drink and a lobster dish go well together. It definitely did for us. We didn't explore much of the menu as these, the quesadilla and grilled lobster mac and cheese were be fan favorites. So if I'm doubt as to what to get, this is a winner.

Excellent dinner and service at Atlantic's Edge during our stay. Steaks were cooked perfectly, asparagus side not overcooked and mushy but crisp, bright and tasty. Lobster Mac and Cheese side also really good. Rolando was our waiter and was the best. Attentive, friendly and super nice. Good wine list too!

Looking for a great view? Scenic surroundings? Spend the evening enjoying dinner ocean side at Atlantic edge. My experience here was alright, while staying at the checca lodge I was looking to enjoy a yummy dinner with a great view. While the service seemed rushed as if closing time was approaching and the server was looking to have us leave quickly. The food was subpar for the cost. We enjoyed the conch fritters generous in size while the crab cake was literally one cake to share. The grouper was very tasty with a little too much lemon zest. Overall, the prices matched the environment while the portions could be larger.

Outdoor dining environment is breathtaking. Very classy. Delicious food. Live music at the edge of a beautiful view of the ocean right off the white sandy beach of the Cheeca Lodge. Great place to experience outdoor dining in a more classy atmosphere while visiting Islamorada. Reservations required.

So I love Cheeca Lodge...and had not been there since their remodel. The place looks fabulous as always...but the restaurant lacked a few things. The ceviche i had, beautifully served on a cracked coconut was definitely not fresh...apparently it had been made since the morning! Not good! I also had the short rib entree and while it was very tender...it was extremely salty and some of the veggies were crunchy, like potatoes. My sister had the skirt steak and no one bothered to provide a steak knife. Also not good! Then we shared the tiramisu and last time u checked its supposed to be a coffee based dessert, well it had zero coffee flavor. Not to mention this place is not cheap. The service and food need to improve. The wait staff seemed lost and not on top of their game!

This place is just like any other In town. I was disappointed. Slow service. Oysters are terrible.

Three stars tops. Beautiful location, nice live music, and the food was... edible. Except for my zucchinis which were rotten. I would always give the chef the opportunity to fix an issue but no response from the kitchen on that complaint. Just a $200 bill for fairly bland food and bad vegetables. I wish we had chosen another place for our anniversary dinner.

We started off with the ceviche appetizer served in a coconut shell. It was fresh and delicious. Paired with a nice New Zealand white wine. I had the catch of the day (white fish) served on a bed of lobster mash and vegetables. Girlfriend had a single lobster tail served over mash and veggies, it was good in flavor but she said it over cooked. Our waitress was very nice and delightful. Checked on us and made sure our wines were always full and recommend the dishes well. The ambiance was perfect, located right by the beach with a nice breeze.

So I give this place 5 stars on atmosphere (if you eat on the beach at sunset) and five stars for the crabcake. One of the best I've ever had. However, the filet mignon we had was ice cold and it was served with a pile of cold, greasy onion strings. It was also covered in a rosemary sauce that was not disclosed upon ordering. Felt like I was eating a steamed steak at a bad wedding buffet. The shrimp cocktail was also terrible. Four shrimp on a plate with no presentation and very overcooked. Service was also extremely slow. I wanted to love this place with the atmosphere and the crabcake, but the dinner went downhill fast.

Met friends who were staying at Cheeca Lodge here for dinner (their choice) last night. We were seated at a four top, in hard plastic chairs, located next to the entrance to the lobby and by the hostess stand. Many reviewers wrote about the lovely views of the restaurant; this was not one of them. But if you were seated out on the white sands of the beach, under twinkling white lights, you would have to contend with the smoke wafting from the Bar-B-Que being cooked as the "special" for the night. The menus were delivered by the hostess, as well as the menu for the Bar-B-Que for $69.99. Our friends were on vacation from Alabama and were not interested in a seventy dollar BBQ dinner. Truthfully, there was little that interested me about the very limited menu. Despite touting itself as a "Culinary Journey through the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean" with emphasis on fresh, local ingredients of the Florida Keys, there were only two fish dishes offered- a Grouper Dish for $41 (served atop an avocado) and a "Mojito Shallow Reef Snapper" for $36, which three out of four of us ordered. I ordered the NY Sirloin & Blue Salad for $26, with implicit instructions for the A-1 dressing (yuk) to be served on the side. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio. It arrived but, when poured, was warm. We asked for it to be cooled down, which seemed to confuse the waiter, so we just asked for ice. Bread was delivered, four sour-dough square rolls with butter, which we ate while sipping our warm wine. After a half hour we asked a server for ice, which was obviously forgotten. Our guests had asked for the vegetable of the day to be replaced with asparagus. When our meals arrived (not delivered by our server) the fish arrived with the requested asparagus, but without any rice. The dish was supposed to come with cilantro rice, and had a citrus emulsion sauce on top of the fish filet. My husband ordered more of the sauce, as the fish was a bit dry and we asked for the rice that had been omitted and more salt (which was not working). My salad arrived, the medium-rare steak sliced atop the greens. All of it was DRENCHED in dressing, without any Blue Cheese in sight. Besides the greens, there were cherry tomatoes- red, yellow and green (?), some pickled red onion and a couple shavings of radishes. I scraped as much dressing away as I could and ate the steak and some of the greens of my salad. Our server arrived and I pointed out the dressing was not on the side as I had requested. He offered to replace it, but I didn't want to be sitting there without food, while everyone else finished their dishes, so my dinner was ruined. I hadn't even discovered the lack of blue cheese at that point. We didn't want dessert and the only bright spot in this review is that we didn't pay for our dinner, our friends did. While we weren't seated by the Bar-B-Que, I left there with my hair and clothes reeking of smoke that had drifted over and a sour taste in my mouth. Yet, amazingly, the restaurant was packed with diners. If you're staying at Cheeca Lodge, run- don't walk- away from this restaurant. Or Uber or drive to one of the other Florida Keys restaurants close by that does seafood right, with reasonable prices and good service. If you're not staying at Cheeca Lodge, why in the world would you eat here?

Service was excellent. View was beautiful. Food. Or do good. Roasted Brussels sprouts were overdone. Clams for an appetizer were sandy & salty. Fried whole fish had no flavor. Definitely not worth the price. Go somewhere else.

We are outside, beautiful sunny view. I had the lobster grill cheese and my husband had the Cuban panini. Both were delicious!

I booked my parents a table for their 55th wedding anniversary. All the people that I was in contact with, ranging from the Concierge to the restaurant manager, were more than accommodating. Everything went smoothly and they were offered various complementary items, considering the occasion. My parents thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I'm very grateful to everyone for valuing the importance of the event, as I am in California and could not attend or organize on location. Thank you to everyone involved! I highly recommend this restaurant.
