This place is amazing! You can't beat the view. The staff is friendly and very inviting. They have homemade cookies upon arrival when checking in. The rooms are super clean and the water pressure in the shower is good. You have a nice sitting area outside your room and a screen door with a lock so you can keep your door open if you like to hear the ocean. The cafe has really delicious food but it's only open from 7am to 11am. The only thing that might be uncomfortable is the bathroom is a little small. So if you're a big person, moving around in there would be tight. But other than that, you will not be disappointed booking this. Very close to all the whale watch excursions and restaurants, shopping, Harbor Beach, etc. We make this an annual trip. One other thing, book very early if you want to stay here on the second floor. That's the best view of the beautiful ocean waves crashing against the rocks. Reservations go very quickly. Enjoy!

Booked this last minute to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The location is absolutely perfect. It’s away from downtown, quiet, and has a gorgeous pool! The front desk staff were super friendly and welcoming, the cookies were absolutely delicious. The seating outside the room was perfect and had a gorgeous view of the pool and ocean.

When we travel to the coastline, my husband and I try to find a hotel where we can hear the waves breaking across the rocks from our room. The Atlantis did not disappoint. We stayed in a king oceanfront room. The view was great, everything including the outdoor balcony, was immaculate and the service/staff were excellent. We enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast every day. I appreciated our waitress, and the hostesses at the restaurant who greeted us and everyone else so pleasantly each morning. I definitely would return.

Google
Stayed here two nights with two other couples. Such a wonderful place. Beautiful views of pool and ocean. You won't find a place better than this for being impeccably clean - both the rooms and the exterior of resort. Everything seems recently renovated. We had two days of great breakfasts conveniently on site. Nice ocean walks in both directions. Will stay here again if in this area.

Google
Overall, a really nice place. The location is great and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is consistent and good, housekeeping folks are really great. From a security standpoint, the door locks aren't the greatest. I had to tighten the kick plate of one door and realign the other. For the purpose of keeping a door closed, it's all fine, and I assume that the area isn't one common to issues, but being able to open the door with a plastic card isn't necessarily the best thing to see.

Google
Such a beautiful sight from my balcony over-looking the Atlantic Ocean. Room was clean, bed very comfortable, delicious breakfast at the on-site restaurant, and enjoyed a lovely walk on the sidewalk along the coast. Very convenient to downtown. Heard the beach was close, but didn’t get to Good Harbor Beach. Pool looked nice, but weather was cool. Well worth a stay.

Google
Off season visit so not crowded. Very friendly and accommodating front desk staff.|3rd floor room with great ocean view. Comfortable room. Only comment is the bathroom area has toilet and shower and sink all in one very very small room so a bit of scheduling challenges in the morning rush. Very nice on-site restaurant, great breakfast. Would definitely stay again if in the area in the future.

Google
We had excellent views, comfortable room and wonderful breakfasts. Service in the dining room was friendly and prompt. It was great to visit with friends and dine at some of our favorite places. We will be back for sure. We don't need a special occasion to go there either!

Yelp
This review is only for the Atlantis oceanfront cafe that is part of the inn. Service was spot on where we were greeted by the hostess who was very courteous and accommodating for part of 7. They pulled some tables and chairs together to fit us all in a row. The setting and ambiance is very diner like with the address of the great ocean view. The menu was only one page but had all the essentials for a great breakfast. The waitress was quick off the mark to grab our drink orders. The coffee nice a hot, good cup of joe. 5/5 Fish cakes and eggs - I wanted to try something unique and they had this spectacular dish on menu. The fish cakes contained fresh chunks of fish and was seasoned just right. It wasn't too salty so went well with the spinach. The home fries were good and eggs over easy were done perfectly. The soft egg yolk broke and oozed just fine over the fish cakes. Definitely will come back again for breakfast when in the area.

Yelp
From the checkin to our last minute here everyone was super friendly. This hotel is always immaculate. Our room had an amazing view and it was also immaculate. We can see why it was rated so high and we would return again. Great location shout out to Kevin and Bethany

Yelp

Yelp
My sister and I stayed here for one night on a recent weekend and we thought the place was fantastic. The view was unsurpassed. The service was excellent. The breakfast was delightful (ham and cheese or spinach and cheese croissants!!) and it was quiet and clean - everything you want in a hotel.

Jon J.

Yelp
I stayed there for a late August weekend and couldn't be happier. The walls are thick and there is minimal amount of noise from other guests. The scenic bass rocks can't be beat and I wouldn't have minded just looking out at them all day. Very relaxing

Yelp
We loved this stay so much! We were visiting Boston, and the hotel prices were outrageous in the city. We decided to venture outside of the city and discovered Atlantis, which was much more reasonablly priced and way better appointed. Our room was on the second floor and had a wonderful view of the ocean. Our room was very clean and well appointed. It wasn't fancy, but it met our needs perfectly. We loved the view and literally could not stop looking at it! The bed was perfect and we had a great nights rest. Upon checking in, they gave us great recommendations for local restaurants and warm chocolate chip cookies!!!! (Totally my favorite part!) we stayed here and October 2022 and the restaurant was still open for the season. We were lucky enough to snag a window seat for breakfast the next morning, and had an amazing view of the ocean . The breakfast menu was absolutely excellent. We had eggs and French toast with the fruit platter. The fruit was so good. We loved the servers! They were super friendly and it felt like a family atmosphere. We are excited to come back and stay here again next fall!!!

Connor P.

Yelp
This year, my family and I delayed our yearly stay at AOI due to some family issues. Sadly we missed out on seeing our favorite staff member, Nick P. Without Nick our experience at AOI just wasn't the same, although still amazing. We missed Nick but our family still had an amazing visit to Massachusetts. Perfect location north of Boston and always enjoyed by my family.

Katherine L.

Yelp
I asked for a single pancake to go along with my breakfast meal and it was $10.50! A stack was 12.50.

Yelp
This hotel!!! We decided to stay here while visiting Boston because it was cheaper than staying in the city. Man was that a great choice! This hotel is amazing. Every room has an ocean view. The room was very clean and the chairs on the patio facing the ocean were lovely. They also have a great little restaurant on site for breakfast. I would love to come back and stay here again in the summer. Our only complaint is that everything shuts down very early in town. We got in at 6:30pm and had trouble finding a place for dinner. So if you plan to come here, call ahead and get yourself some reservations. I would most definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience... bedroom very clean , super friendly staff, and food in the cafe was great too. Gorgeous views !!! Very serene

Yelp
What an Oasis! We're Bostonian locals who found the Atlantis Oceanfront Inn (AOI) during covid when traveling far was not recommended. The ocean views are so much better than the overpriced Beauport Hotel downtown AND the AOI is walking distance to Good Harbor Beach (T&L Mag just named it one of the top 25 beaches in the country!). If you have a special concern Jane, the manager is so down-to-earth and pleasant to talk to. The rooms are SPOTLESSLY clean and the staff: Vicky, Mary Ellen, Kevin and many others are friendly, helpful and just wonderful! Steve the maintenance/garden guy keeps the grounds impeccably beautiful. The Breakfast Cafe attracts many locals (that was the tip off that the quality would be good). Kim on the wait staff, goes out of her way to make your meal special. We've been trying many local places from Gloucester to Newburyport, but we keep coming back to the AOI as our favorite! P.S. Tip: Don't miss the home baked complimentary cookies in the lobby. The raspberry and lemon filled are the best!!

Yelp
Great location and breakfast was wonderful! Staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Delicious breakfast with many choices. We shared the oatmeal with pecans, apricot and cranberries, the blueberry pancakes and homemade corned beef hash (very lean, no potatoes) with perfectly poached eggs. Very nice waitstaff, lots of cleaning after diners left a table to prepare for the next guest, and the view was outstanding.

Yelp
We are finishing our 3 night stay here tonight. The folks at the desk are super nice. The breakfast crew is great! Rooms are in good shape and the bed was comfortable. There is a nice pool and chairs. Just wish they might do some lawn games or install a jacuzzi or offer food throughout the day to make it perfect. All that said, it is a great place for a getaway!

DAVID M.

Yelp
Top floor for one night. Picture window and balcony provide view of the ocean. I imagine with a nor'easter that must be dramatic!! Only negatives were the very small bathroom and the over-cooked potato quarters that came with breakfast. For walkers/runners, the sidewalk along Atlantic St. Breakfast (not included with stay), other than the potatos, was surprisingly good. Restaurant does not do lunch or dinner.

Maria C.

Yelp
If you are looking for the perfect location to stay and slumber with lots to do, this is the place for you. In my opinion you could just arrive and stay poolside. The view and activities are amazing. Please catch the sunrise. Eat the gosh darned breakfast because its amazing. The staff here is beyond helpful & amazing and the room service is sublime.

Margaret C.

Yelp
Let me say this about breakfast at Atlantis....the view is outstanding.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
This was a wonderful weekend thanks to the staff at Atlantis inn, the location is great all rooms have spectacular views.

David K.

Yelp
Very clean oceanfront hotel with great views and mediocre internet. The staff here are very friendly, and the inner room amenities are exactly what you will need. There is a nice pool between the hotel and the road, and the ocean is a quick 32nd walk across the street. The only criticism I have is that the Internet connection here is really sporadic. If they can get that fixed, they would get a solid five star review from me.

Yelp
I was anxious about staying at a hotel during Covid but was so impressed with the safety procedures, and cleanliness of the motel. The rooms are simple but very clean and the location is amazing. Power went out our first night and did not return until lunch the following day. The cafe was not open but muffins and coffee were provided to guests. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Would definitely stay again.

Barbara N.

Yelp
Went for breakfast this morning. The usually fantastic view was obscured by fog this morning. The view and the service were quite good. However do not order the hash. My mistake. The poached eggs and oatmeal toast were very good but the hash was like scrambled Hamburg. In edible. When the waitress took the plate she didn't even comment on how I liked it which I obviously did not. Couldn't eat it. If you go order some thing else.
google avatar

Yelp
It was the last day of the season and the restaurant was full. It was right after a Nor'easter and the waves were crashing. There was quite a bit of water on the road. My hosts took me here for breakfast. I'm on a seafood binge and had the eggs and fish cakes. They were very good. I've noticed that places on the east coast have salad with breakfast. This had tomatoes and spinach. In South Africa, I had tomatoes for breakfast. I hope to come back here in the summer.

Loretta L.

Yelp
Best breakfast in town. Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh! The cook, SHE, is fantastic! And, did I mention the view is awesome? Oh yes, warm greetings by front desk and appreciative departures. "It doesn't get any better than this!"
google avatar

Yelp
We stayed from October 22 to 24 this year. Have visited annually for many years. I still marvel at the pristine condition of the rooms. Well appointed, comfortable bed, unmatched view of the ocean across the street. Location is perfect. Walk out on the rocks, down the street to the beach, or relax on your terrace. There is a pool for summer use. We chose not to have a full breakfast at the cafe and ordered bagels and juice to enjoy in room. There are cider and cookies available for guest enjoyment. Staff is pleasant and completely accommodating.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
If you are looking for a relaxing, tranquil getaway, this is the place to go! The view is spectacular, and you are in walking distance to Good Harbor beach. The customer service at the front desk was so helpful and had plenty of recommendations in the city. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Other than breakfast should be included for the price- and they should give you a newspaper without having to pay for it, this is really a nice, clean, friendly, basic, no frills (You know the cheap plastic cups in the bathroom) motel with a great view, nice pool and a convenient location. Can't really go wrong staying here.

Sandra G.

Yelp
Excellent food beautiful view friendly staff you won't be disappointed oceanfront rooms

Bok C.

Yelp
Wonderful stay. Friendly staff. Every room has a great view of the ocean. And not only was the pool open - one week prior to the official season - it was lightly heated! The place is immaculate too.

Yelp
We decided pretty much last minute to get away for Labor Day weekend. We headed to Gloucester early so we could go to good harbor beach, then check in to the hotel. After driving around Gloucester for over an hour trying different beaches (all lots were full/residents only) we decided to call the hotel and see if they would just let us go to the pool before check in. We called the hotel a little before noon and check in wasn't until 3, but they told us to head over and we could absolutely enjoy the pool! When we arrived the wonderful staff actually had a room ready for us to check in early, a map of how to walk to good harbor, and smiles on their faces. We got into our room dropped our stuff and headed to the pool. Man, what a view! Beautiful flowers everywhere and a you can see the ocean from everywhere in/at this inn! The room was perfect, the most comfortable hotel/inn bed I have ever slept in! We actually had a hard time leaving because it was so perfect. If you are from New England and looking for a quick getaway, this is where it's at! You can walk along the road and explore the rocks, watch the boats, walk to the beach, or just sit and enjoy the crisp ocean air. We are definitely coming back here, no doubt about it! Don't worry I didn't forget the cafe! Quick, friendly service! The food was delicious and again, the views make everything! I wish it was open for lunch and dinner! We would've eaten there all day if we could have!

Aaron W.

Yelp
Wonderful stay. It is obvious that everything has been replaced or freshly painted. Great view of ocean. Room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Had breakfast onsite the next morning and was pleasantly surprised. Chef was quick and delivered a great meal. I would imagine the motel has been around since 70s but as I said everything was fresh. Had stayed at the marriott in Boston on warf and can say they delivered a better product and much better value.

Yelp
Whilst the Cafe at the Atlantis is a bit more expensive than most other places for breakfast in town, it's well worth it. The view of the Back Shore of Gloucester is unsurpassed and the food is delicious as well. The oatmeal/molasses bread is so good that we ordered an extra side of it. The Backshore Omelet, with beautiful skinny asparagus, portabellas, and tomatoes [the tomatoes could have been riper but added juicy texture nonetheless] and swiss cheese was perfectly cooked and scrumptious. We were seated at a side window but the view of the ocean was good overlooking the hotel's pool. The view from the front windows is spectacular. The restaurant is larger than I thought it would be and the tables have comfortable space between them. The service was very good. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My sister and I spent the weekend of July 18 through July 21at the Atlantis oceanfront Inn in Gloucester. We had a wonderful time. I was nervous about about staying at a hotel because of COVID-19, but the hotel was immaculate. It was really obvious that all protocols were taken seriously. The housekeeping staff was extremely helpful and met all our needs even though some of the procedures have changed due to COVID-19. I found my stay very relaxing and comforting. Another thing that happened was that the city closed the beach parking to non-residents but front desk staff was very helpful in helping us navigate a wonderful day at the beach during the Pandemic. The night clerk recommended takeout from Charlie's it was so convenient and fresh. I would love to be at the Atlantis Oceanfront this very moment and look forward to booking another wonderful visit with them in the future.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel. Every room with a view of the ocean, large rooms with balconies, immaculate. Friendly staff, very good breakfast menu.

Yelp
Really clean. Comfy bed. Great breakfast downstairs. Starbucks coffee in room!! Choose to town. I'd stay again

Yelp
Having spent a night at the Atlantis Motor Inn I now know what to expect at a retirement home! Mean staff who resent taking care of their guests, ridiculously over priced for what you get, the decor is designed for the geriatric, the "heated pool" was ice cold & forgot about asking the staff for anything because you'll just be bothering them !!! I admit the view of the ocean is lovely, however you still have to drive to the beach. Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone !!!!!

Sydney C.

Yelp
The staff is very nice, the kitchen staff were accommodating do to my food allergies, just try to give them a notice of allergies. The food was amazing! The hotel rooms were very clean and they have an amazing view of the gulf of Maine.
google avatar

Primavera P.

Yelp
It's perfect. Can't wait for May the 6th for then to open. Great view to wake up to. Beautiful scenery for the wedding photos in front of the place on the rocks.
google avatar

Kate H.

Yelp
This is pretty much a no frills in - clean, convenient and right on the ocean. I've only been here in the off season and it still seems a little overpriced but you're across the street from the rocky shore so I can't complain.
google avatar

Holly C.

Yelp
It's perfect! How may I count the ways in which it's perfect? The view - the ocean's right there, and the sunrise is breathtaking. It's immaculate - beats anything we've ever seen! The staff - everyone is friendly and helpful. Ease of check in and out - chocolate chip cookies offered. Spacious, airy, quiet rooms with comfortable beds and every amenity. Beautiful, relaxing, refreshing pool The restaurant / coffee shop offers the best breakfast found anywhere - try the Lobster Eggs Benedict! Oh, did I mention that it's perfect??
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
There is a great breakfast cafe at the inn, and it is open to the public. If one of you only prefers sweet and the other only savory - breakfast at the Atlantis Inn on Atlantic Avenue is your best bet as they do both well! The muffins and breakfast rolls (cinnamon rolls, pecan sticky rolls) are so, so, so good!! Plus, there is such a beautiful view overlooking Bass Rocks and the sunrise!! Gorgeous! If you are a fan of savory breakfasts, the best in town is at Charlie's Place. If you prefer only sweet, head to Two Sisters on Washington Avenue. The Atlantis is a close second in both categories!

Robert M.

Yelp
This is my first review of any kind, but I was so amazed with my experience at the Atlantis Oceanfront Inn that I just had to write about it. The most important part of our stay at any Hotel is the cleanliness. This place is by far the cleanest we've ever seen. That's not just inside our room, but outside too. Stunningly beautiful view from our room, and the staff....special shout out to Tom at the front desk, everyone that works at this Inn we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have found a home away from home which will be our annual up north place to be.
google avatar

Jayne H.

Yelp
This place is great! Beautiful views, clean, large room with refrigerator. Really good breakfast and the staff are all super friendly.

Jane H.

Yelp
We so enjoyed our stay at the Atlantis! Our accommodations were immaculate, staff was friendly and attentive, and breakfast, delicious! Will definitely be returning next time we find ourselves on the east coast!
google avatar

Rivkie M.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel on gorgeous Atlantic Ave!! Within walking distance to great beaches and across the street from some of the most beautiful sea views in Gloucester!
google avatar

Kirsten J.

Yelp
Beds aren't the most comfortable but the views and service more than make up for that. My son tossed his ball on the roof on accident: maintenance got it the next day and found us to return it. Breakfast on site was awesome. Would stay again for sure!!
google avatar

Robin M.

Yelp
We had s fantastic time on our trip with the kids the view was absolutely phenomenal and make it a point on your trip to consume the rays of the sunrise and sunset . Talk about an inner peace now onto the beach clean & beautiful ! Wonderful to take s walk along the Oceanside in the evening with the family or partner . Plenty of Restaurants in the area to eat . Do not order as we did one evening kids wanted to stay in after a long day out in Boston it took 2 hrs to finally get food . Stop and pick something up would be my recommendation.

Yelp
Anyone who has ever gotten married on the North Shore knows what a pain in the rear it is to find hotel blocks for guests. I decided that Gloucester just collectively hates weddings and everything associated with them. Jane at the Atlantis proved me *completely* wrong. Not only was the Atlantis half a block from our venue, it was the only hotel in Gloucester I could find that would even discuss blocks with me. We were able to reserve a small block, but a block nonetheless with a very reasonable agreement (any rooms left empty by 6 weeks before the wedding open to the public). As the wedding got closer, Jane only proved to be more and more helpful. Our event ended up being amazing and I am SO glad we decided to work with the Atlantis. My husband and I and both our immediate families all stayed there for the whole wedding weekend and absolutely loved the place. The rooms are simple but absolutely all you need - updated bathrooms, a balcony, and of course, the incredible view. The only downside is a lack of queen- and king-sized beds (most rooms have two full beds). Jane allowed us to use the cafe as a last-minute rehearsal space since it rained the whole weekend and we'd planned for an outdoor rehearsal with no backup plan (oops). And best of all, we had an emergency overnight FedEx delivery that had to go right to the Atlantis, which was no problem at all: the staff signed for it on our behalf with no attitude or complaint. And the day after the wedding, THEY called FedEx to have the package picked up so we didn't have to worry about a thing! We ended up hosting our post-wedding brunch right in the Atlantis breakfast cafe, which was easy to plan with Jane, delicious and very reasonably priced, and of course very convenient for everyone who was staying there and at other nearby hotels. Keep in mind this is a 'beach motel'-style establishment, but with that expectation it is comfortable, accommodating, and really a lovely choice for wedding guests.

Yelp
While we didn't stay here, we did come for breakfast, and it was exceptional. Their selection was huge and very enticing... we had fishcakes (delicious), and a huge omelette with lots of fresh veggies. Our waitress, Kim, was very attentive and anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. It's not often breakfast is so good you remember it all day, but I suspect that will be the case. Highly recommended!

Steven H.

Yelp
Nice, clean, friendly place to stay. Great views, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast restaurant on-site. Would definitely stay again!
