The Best Pizza by the Slice in Portland and the Surrounding Suburbs | Eater Portland

"Atlas Pizza’s latest location on Foster serves wide, thin slices — amply layered ingredients on crispy, flaky crust — in a family-friendly atmosphere. Customers can play a few rounds of pinball as the kids amuse themselves in a dedicated children’s play area. A half-dozen daily slices include both gluten-free and vegan options; slices are also available at the Southeast Division and North Killingsworth locations." - Nathan Williams

Classic 2nd Wave Portland pizza joint, covered in stickers, seasoned staff, and well-made pies. The menu has a broad selection for both meat-eaters and vegans. Good amount of choices for sides, salads, and even desserts too! I called ahead for takeout, and waited for about ten mins, but the pizza was fresh, hot, and directly out of the oven. Service was excellent and quick, despite them getting a rush of customers. Overall this was an excellent experience and my new go-to spot for takeout!

Google
I’ve had this pizza about 4 or 5 times and I’m NEVER disappointed. For slices that need to be reheated I think it takes the cake for other places that offer that same service. Always greeted when I come in and the crowd is vibrant.

Walked in for a slice to try out before committing to a whole pie in the future and will definitely be back. I ordered a slice with salami and banana peppers, it was an absolute flavor bomb and they don’t skimp on ingredients! The crust was the perfect balance of chew and crunch. See y’all soon!

In the last 10 years or so, Southeast Portland has become a wonderful place to get pizza by the slice. Whether you're on Division, Foster, or watching a Pickles baseball game, Atlas has become an integral part of this delightful development. The Division location has pinball, to add to the ambiance, making it a nice place to either wait for an order to-go, or just to enjoy yourself while dining in. Like many pizza spots during pandemic times, Atlas does not currently open until 4:00 PM. I'm looking forward to being able to get lunchtime slices again. The beer selection here isn't huge, but a recent houseguest called after his visit to ask what we had to drink at Atlas, so the beverage experience will be as pleasant as the pizza side of the equation. ------------ April 2023 Just a quick update - the pandemic seems to have made a lasting negative effect on the general availability of pizza by the slice. Atlas remains a strong choice, though I believe they still don't open until 4:00 PM. So, lunchtime slices remain difficult to find these days.

Went in for pizza week 2024. Their pizza week special at this location is The Arthur Ave. As per their IG page, “it consists of garlic oil base & mozzarella, mortadella & capocollo (gabagool!), red peppers & red onions, topped with pecorino romano & a creamy italian drizzle. Served with a side of calabrian chili ranch, cugine!” I absolutely loved it!

Google
Sorry but this is the saddest pizza I’ve ever had. The first time I ordered a pie for a house party and paid extra for toppings that didn’t arrive with the pizza. This time I just got a single vegan slice. There’s barely any cheese, and it was also missing the pineapple topping listed on the case. My partner’s pesto slice was also burned black on the bottom. The garlic knots were great though!

Atlas is very hit or miss. Have had alright experiences with ordering to pick up and mediocre delivery service. The pizza is alright, but not as good as other places in town.

Google
I need to preface this review acknowledging that it was 4th of July and there was a neighborhood event 4 blocks down, for that reason I'm actually increasing the stars on my review by two. Fully understanding that business is harder to gauge on a holiday I'm giving cushion for reduced staff or continuity of service, that being said... That was the worst pizza I had this year, it was dry looking in the heat lamp display and it was more dry looking on the small tin they hid under my pizza and the paper between. Hide and seek of my plate is a fun party trick but not great off it slid off onto the floor. I bought slices because the kitchen was estimating 45 min on a large pizza, given that a pizza with fresh ingredients takes 10-15 minutes to cook in an oven they must be backed up 10+ pies, however, my entire visit only sit down groups came in numbering 3. To the restaurant: check your hold times, your by the slice pizza doesn't need to be oven fresh but it needs to look tasty, if it's dry before you reheat, it's going to be dry after. I could only taste small portions of my pizza slices, I got no pepperoni taste in one slice and my veggies were dead on the second. By the slice sales are dangerous territory, you have a sliver of time between appetizing and leftover's, and quite honestly I've had better day old pizza reheated. Potential customers: I'm giving them two stars, but if a restaurant cannot guarantee quality in by the slice they should never offer them and for this reason I personally will not be returning. I understand their fresh is probably better and by rights it should, however, they put that pizza on a plate and served it and that tells me something about their fresh. In closing: I'm no stranger to pizza, but I've had better pizza in South Korea, and they aren't exactly known for Italian food. This restaurant should be ashamed of the product I ate today.

Yelp
Typical slice spot! Can't beat the prices for sure and they run different specials throughout the week. Loved their garlic knots and ranch! They have a few arcade games too which is a nice touch. They also have board games too. I got a slice of pepperoni which wasn't the best I've ever had, but still good. Overall good value and quick service!

Yelp
Pretty good pizza. Order at the counter spot and the pizza comes out really spot. Gets pretty packed during peak times. Hole in the wall vibe with the grungy decor.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Your neighborhood joint with reasonably priced pizza by the slice. Order at the counter, then they'll call your name when your pizza is ready. Appreciate the quick service and seating available for a Saturday evening.

Yelp
We were right here and hungry so let's give er a go.... First of all... warning to those of you who have sound triggers... do not plan to sit inside. I have never been in a space before where the sound affected me so poorly. There was a speaker in the center of the ceiling just assaulting us with their awful playlist. I was trying hard to block it out but it was like they were trying to start a rave. It is not a bar or a nightclub, calm down. I am into just about any type of music but this was just awful (and I grew up in mosh pits). I wished I grabbed a paper menu on the way to the seat because the website is not that friendly for an order in the restaurant. The person at the counter was not 'rude' but a touch abrupt and seemed like they expected I was a regular and knew all the things. I just did a standard 'trying a pizza spot out' order for me and grabbed a slice of cheese, slice of pepperoni and a small spinach salad with no blue cheese... What is it with RC and Portland? They have Dr Pepper thankfully but warning... apparently way before actually closing they turn off their fountain without a warning on it. So it sprays fizzy water out everywhere. I was not expecting a shower. When it happened and I was standing there dripping and shook, I get the "you should have known better" tone that they are closing in ten minutes so they turn that off. Then offered to allow me to get more soda which I was intending to do in a to go container as we were trying to exit. Now I needed to clean up in the bathroom. My friend ordered A LOT and was not expecting that a large pizza comes in a large box. I did really appreciate the fella working the line boxing everything up for her so she would be able to carry her stuff back to the car. They have those awful to go containers where the top just does not stay closed so you might want to ask for some tape. The slices of pizza I got were pretty good. Not the best I have had but a solid choice with good cheese, flavorful sauce and not greasy. The crust gives you that pretty spot on mouth feel with the crisp outside and good chew also. The pepperoni slice I brought home - pro tip...I plop it on foil, preheat the oven to 450...put it in immediately and it is perfect temp when the oven tells you it is heated... you are welcome. The whole salad came home and that was delicious. Spinach, red onion, sunflower seeds and craisins - I added some feta I had and their raspberry vinaigrette. My friend I came with is vegan and she was really excited about all the vegan options though disappointed they do not have a creamy dressing option that is vegan since that seems like a staple for vegan friendly restaurants. I saw her pizza and she asked them to add vegan pepperoni and DID THEY EVER...like ALL OF IT. So they are generous with toppings apparently. I would say that this is not a bad choice for food to go. Eating in here though was a poor experience.

Yelp
It's a really solid classic NY style pizza place. If you're in the area and craving a NY slice, this will satisfy those cravings! Slices are all around $4, so not too bad on the price. Service was friendly and quick, and it had a really chill neighborhood pizza place kind of vibe. Pizza: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 3/5 Overall: 4/5

Yelp
Bring back Narragansett!!! It's the best pizza beer ever!! Oh, and Pabst can eatabagodix. Ok, carry on.

Yelp
Atlas Pizza exceeded my expectations! Trying them during Portland Pizza week, they featured a bbq pork pizza with pickles, mustard, and onions, which were not foods I would choose to pair with on a pizza. However, it kinda worked! It was good! They were insanely busy when we came, and the line was out the door. The slices came out fresh and hot about 15 minutes after ordering. The dough/crust impressed me the most - not too thick, tangy, chewy, and held together well. The toppings also balanced each other and nothing was too overpowering. The pickles and mustard actually worked with the bbq pork. Overall, I am a fan! There are pinball machines inside - adding to the retro/70s vibe Atlas pizza brings. With 3 locations around town, there is an Atlas for everyone!

Yelp
Here for the ambiance, and then the pizza. Their vibe at the bar counter is probably my favorite of all the pizza joints I've been to. It's the dim warm lightings and tv in the corner playing bob's burgers with bartenders doing their thing and people in the background playing the arcade simpsons or pinball. The pizza is good too :) more crispy than floppy! Which I do prefer.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
I've come here multiple times and would give this place a solid a-okay. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The crust is generally crisp and thin as I like it. I find the flavors of the sauce and toppings to be a bit less too my liking. The sauce is a bit acidic for my preferences. Otherwise, a decent slice and super chill!

Thomas F.

Yelp
Atlas pizza rules. Pizza is good. Salad is good. Delivery is fast. If you live in NoPo and don't order pizza from them you're missing out.

Yelp
Thin-crust pizza at the right price! $3.50 for a slice of cheese? Don't mind if I do. I visited Atlas Pizza for pizza week, and I'd be happy to go back anytime. The bright yellow building on SE Division is in a great area, and with lots of indoor seating this is a nice place to stop in for a bite. The staff is friendly and goofy and sounds like they're having a fun time even when they're busy. Order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. I thought the pizza week specials flavors were good but unusual, and I would've liked more flavor in the garlic knots. My partner said this style of pizza was his favorite of all the pizza week spots we tried. So if NY/NJ, foldable, thin-crust is your style, then this is your spot!

Jameson C.

Yelp
Great pizza! Thin crust. $4 a slice. Love the pinball machines too. Garlic knots were great too.

Cygnus C.

Yelp
this has been one of my favorite pizza spots, the crust was one of the best in town, but lately the foster and division locations have been subpar, unfortunately. last night i got pizza that tasted old and the crust was like cardboard. sad to see it happen to one of my fav pizza spots

Yelp
Atlas is another great pizza option for Portland. They offer slices and whole pies so there is something for everyone. They have unique flavors that you won't see elsewhere and most of the time, it works. Service is on point quick. It travels when when ordering to go. My favorite slice combo is pepperoni and jalapeno when ordering a whole pie. Sometimes you can't go wrong with the simpler combinations and Atlas simply delivers!

Yelp
I haven't even tried the pizza I purchased yet ... I'm actually not even home yet from buying the pizza as I write this review! This review is 100% based off customer service! While I was ordering our pizza, my daughter was bugging me about $.25 for the little machine at the register. I told her I didn't have the money, which I didn't at the time, and after the transaction the guy behind the counter asked me if he could give my daughter a quarter! Then I went to sit outside to be with our dog who was tied up. I was planning to go back in and get the food but before I could, he brought the food out to me so I didn't have to haul my four year-old and six month old back into Atlas! Great customer service! Give that man a raise!
google avatar

Yelp
We tried a Reservoir Hogs slice here for pizza week and were pleasantly surprised. It was full of bold bbq, mustard, pickle, and garlic flavors, exactly what we were looking for. One of the better pizza week slices.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect punk pizza parlor! Pinball! Good music to rock out to, yummy pizza (good CRUST!), chill vibes & nice employees. This place made me happy.

Cliff C.

Yelp
Pizzas were great, but we only received 1/2 of our order. There is no way to reach either Atlas Pizza or Uber Eats, so we were extremely disappointed.
google avatar

Sara V.

Yelp
Great pizza for Portland. As someone who grew up in New York, I'm extremely picky about pizza. I'm happy to say that this place passed the test. I heard about it from someone I know from New Jersey. Very few places are close to the same style but this hit very close. I feel like the dough was a bit more chewy than east coast style which isn't necessarily a bad thing, though.

Mick F.

Yelp
Love the pizza. However, on three different occasions, I have stopped in for a slice, paid *and tipped) at the counter, and then had 15 minutes pass, until going up to the counter to ask about my order, which had been forgotten.

Yelp
Pizza Week Review: 2 of 10 consecutive pizza slices I just love atlas, always such a nice environment, nice staff, and just great options, they must have a half dozen or more pies at each given moment. I have been to atlas a handful of times over they years as location permits, and I do love they're attitude most of all, sometimes, it is just what make a place that much better. Now this was one of my top (3) slices... I just loved it as a whole, and I could have eaten a whole pizza... The bacon, was amazing and very very heavy handed, the peppers were my favorite... I love those things, always!! Now add the honey, and you had me... I felt like I was wrapped up in its loving arms, it was whispering sweet nothings into my ear, and making me the happiest man on earth. I will say this, if this isn't a menu item... make it one, because it if f'kin amazing y'all. Even the greens were still vibrant and fresh... easily a top competitor. Thank you for being a part of the community.

Yelp
Used to be the best ... so sad. This was my fav place for the last 4 yrs. 1st the garlic knots went down hill but I still loved them. I yet got 2 undercooked pizzas , one where they forgot the cheese When I called to tell them they said "he remembers putting it on" I hate complaining so I just said "no it isn't on there ... but ok" and she was super nice when she asked if there was anything else she could do. So sad. No cheese on a pizza is almost the saddest thing I can think of! But losing my favorite pizza place... is worse.

Yelp
Atlas on N. Killingsworth is turning it out! I've ordered a few different pizzas... each has been so so good. Cheese and toppings are fresh, nicely proportioned. The tasty sauce is a little sassy spice. Their dough is fragrant, it's got excellent stretch/texture/chew... They box a mean Caesar with crisp romaine, lemon wedges and a house made dressing (OMG) that's a garlic/parm (paste) masterpiece. The regular (not stuffed) knots are buttery+seasoned bites of yum... and those knots with that Caesar can sideline the pizza. Which is fine, because the slices reheat on a cast iron plate perfectly later on. But the best part about the Killingsworth location; the super-sweet folks behind the counter... always with a warm, friendly welcoming and taking care to make it nice and make it and tasty every time :)

Yelp
the food is up on quality for a neighborhood pizza parlor, to add- they've got a good beer selection & great old school atmosphere goin', also! decently priced for a lack of better words, service was friendly &fast. will def be making this a top go-to spot for myself moving forward. .but also, those stuffed garlic knots are on the must try list.. cheers

Yelp
Amazing pizza. Wonderful staff. I definitely recommend ordering from them! They offer vegan options! A good gluten free crust too! The owner seems kind hearted and community oriented which makes me also feel so good about ordering from them. I called in to ask about their hours and he left a message to the community at the end of the recording encouraging everyone to hang in there during these times of pandemic and also the BLM movement. I think if we could all come together like this man and share a kind word our world would be a kinder more inclusive place. I am happy to support a business that understands that.

Tito B.

Yelp
"18 inch" build your own. Half bbq chix half pep/jap. It was decent tasting. The bbq chix side was better. However, it wasn't what I was expecting. Kinda smokier than your traditional bbq chix pizza. The other side was dry and forgettable for sure. It didnt nearly fill the box. A less than substantial 16 inch. Def not an 18. Especially considering this was a $38 pizza. Best part about this place was the pizza's crust and the spicy tomato sauce that came with the stuffed cheese bread. Overpriced for what I got. 4.5 out of 10. Has potential.
google avatar

Jason F.

Yelp
Let me lead with this- I had a couple slices and a fountain drink (they load RC Cola) for just over $10. I had a slice of meat which was based with bbq sauce and a slice of veggie. Both were good and really large slices. It's not amazing pizza, but it's good and exactly what I want when I'm in this style of pizza mood. I love how crispy the slices get when they fire them off for reheat. The ambience here is the real charm. It's all here- pinball, metal plates with parchment liners, great music bumpin, names being yelled out for pickup by extremely friendly and hip looking staff, Cambro red and clear fountain cups, chili flake and parm shakers, and worn wooden floors. I will be crushing many slices and beers in the future here imagining I'm young again and about to head to a basement show (most likely just going to bed after the next episode of Fargo). I'm also looking forward to seeing what a fresh pie is like right out of the box.

Rachel J.

Yelp
Thank you to Atlas Pizza for handling a last minute, large order for our youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland, the Killingsworth location was helpful, they made ordering a breeze and the kids LOVED the food. Special shout of to Lauren who took the order with such great customer service and delivered the it all on time! Thank you to the whole team, we will absolutely be ordering from you all again!
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
Stayed at a place right across the street from here. A very cool atmosphere inside. Arcade games and pinball for the kids (and adults), a good selection of beer, and the pizza and knots were decent, enough for two stops! First visit I went with a slice of pepperoni and an Occidental blonde for $7.75. I also got a "small" salad and stuffed knot of the day (cream cheese, jalapeño, bacon), then went with a slice of cheese because I was starving. The slices are large, big enough to fulfill an appetite. I'd say it's a little on the thin and greasy side, but the sauce to cheese ratio was good. The small salad was HUGE, with greens, tomatoes, shredded carrots and onion. The second visit, I went with a slice of the chicken, bacon, onion. A little dry with no sauce, but still a large, filling slice. Coming from NY, it's not the best pizza I've had, but the place is a cool hangout (the Division St. location has The Simpsons arcade game which I HAD to play!), service is friendly, and the food is good. Way to go, Sean and co.!
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
Pretty solid pizza joint - basic options for the pizza and pretty darn expensive for what you get!! As someone said "what you see is what you get." Might try a different pizza joint next time.
google avatar

Lois M.

Yelp
Five stars for the easy-to-find-parking location, the daily special, the varieties of slices of pizza for said daily special, the huge "small salads," the bottomless sodas, the fast and friendly service, the loud music, the availability of seating, the super tasty garlic knots, and anything else you can think of. All that makes it a five-star kind of place to me. For seven bucks, the daily special gets you a big slice of pizza, a huge "small salad," and all the soda you can drink. There were six varieties of pizza slices: pepperoni and cheese, of course, but also vegan, veggie, meat and gluten-free options. And the slices were big and the crust is just how I like it: thin. The salad choices were garden, spinach, and Caesar (complete with lots of shaved Parmesan and real anchovies in the dressing). The three of us eating here each had a different kind of pizza and a different salad; we also had an order of the garlic knots. All very good, all very tasty, all very ample portions. Such a good deal! We'll definitely be coming back here.
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
Great pizza. Classic NY style. Always well made. You can place your order for pickup or delivery directly within their website -- don't go through yelp/playmates/Grubhub. It's a better deal for you and for them. They explain it on the website and request you order that way.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
My go to pizza spot 5sure and I probably order from here 2-ish times a month and I never have issues. Hour wait? Sure no problem. You need me to hold when you answer the phone because you're busy af? I get it. HERES MY PROBLEM, this poor sweet girl on the phone was so grateful that I was understanding that she needed time that I'm pretty sure she thanked me a minimum of 15 times over the course of 4 minutes. So I'll ask, WHO IS MAKING THESE PEOPLE CRY? Which one of y'all are being rude to them? If you don't show these people some damn compassion so help me god I'll be eating pizza with a side of spleen. Anyways Atlas you're great, fucking love the place and people, and don't take shit from anyone.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Came back for pizza week and they didn't disappoint. Really busy. Worth the wait because the pizza was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Great delivery service . Guy was on point and sweet. Ordered a veggie pizza . Disappointed . It had a few tomatoes and a few shreds of spinach Called to discuss and then was hung up on by the manger . Neat place.

Yelp
Garlic Knots, Garlic Knots, Garlic Knots! I don't usually eat bread type things when eating pizza but they were there and smelled so good I had to try one. Wow! They were amazing - perfect dough, butter and garlic combination. I ate a total of 4 of the garlic knots along with the house salad for dinner, only tasting one bite of the pizza. Oh, and the pizza was really good too. We ordered a Big Joe, picture an excellent cheese pizza with housemade meatball, ricotta and basil on top. Excellent crust soft not soggy, chewy not tough, very tasty and it reheats really well. I went directy to their website and ordered over the phone as I had a few questions. It was a super wet rainy night and we had a very long day so we ordered it to be delivered. They said it might take 30 - 40 minutes but it was delivered in less than 30. Can't wait to order from them again!
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
I have low expectations for pizza in Portland as I'm Chicago born and raised. I was hopeful after reading a positive review regarding their GF pizza. Very disappointed. I essentially paid $33 for a pizza equivalent to what I could get at MOD pizza. The crust over cooked and I'm glad I didn't say light cheese because the cheese was very light. If you're looking for good gluten free pizza keep looking.
google avatar

Astrid B.

Yelp
3 stars is perfect for this place. It was like ok pizza and the prices were super reasonable and I enjoyed the decor. The garlic knots were not soft which was sad, but I enjoyed the texture of the pizza. I would eat here again I think.
google avatar

Gianni B.

Yelp
Yuck! I can't believe this place is even in business in Portland, where there are so many great pizzarias. There is something really off about the sauce here, it has too much raw garlic, which is bitter and gives off a chemical taste when there is too much of it. The crust has good texture, but is just white.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Mediocre. Stopped here for a few garlic knots and a slice of pizza to get us through until dinner. Pretty cool spot with an old Simpsons arcade, Packman, and 3 pinball machines. Not sure how much the other games cost but pinball was $0.75 per game or 3 for $2. The garlic knots were alright. Nothing to write home about. I wasn't the biggest fan of the vegan cheese they used on the pizza, or the amount of olives used, but it was okay. Would I recommend Atlas Pizza? No, I would not. Would I say stay away from this place? Wouldn't do that either. Just don't have too high of expectations, probably better for a snack than a whole meal.

Yelp
Full disclosure, we had this pie delivered, so part of the fault is on door dash. Totally jazzed about a new pizza joint on Foster. Had a yen for a delicious pie, ordered a Mighty Atlas, which is basically a supreme pie. Crust, decent, good chew, plenty of edge, held toppings without getting soggy. Toppings, sausage was plentiful but salty as heck. Other toppings, especially green peppers & mushrooms were sparse. C'mon, the veg is the cheap stuff, gimme some crunch! Sauce, super duper garlicky, and great if you prefer that. I do. Overall, we were unimpressed. Decided we should go there and try again. Door dash was unbelievably slow, 90min for a pizza that should have come from less than 3 miles away. But that's another review.
google avatar

Ronn S.

Yelp
When you have a have a hankering for some great take out pizza then you found your stop as the crust and toppings are scrumptious - I'm all in at Atlas pizza Ronn just Ronn The hole in wall food guy

Yelp
Yumminess! Excellent pizzas and salads and the Garlic Knots are the bomb! Vegan options too! Delivery been constantly efficient and friendly with order nice and warm yet salads cold. Generous portions and their family deal (pizza, salad, and knots) is a great deal and enough for 2 adults and a kiddo!

Yelp
Placed an order to go from here. First time we tried the place. A 12 inch pizza and some of the stuffed knots. The dough they use for the knots/pizza was absolutely tasteless. I would've thought there would've been at least some garlic, Olive oil, salt or some kind of taste but there wasn't. The red pizza sauce was good with a little bit of spicy. They do not overly top a pizza nor do they use a lot of cheese so the crust taste really comes through. after the first slice we pretty much just ate the toppings off of it and threw the crust away. Too bad. The stuffed knots we ordered we're supposed to be pepperoni/jalapeño/pineapple and they ended up being a whole lot of jalapeño, a tiny bit of pepperoni and zero pineapple. They were absolutely awful. ick We did call and discuss our order with them and received some refund. That is the reason for the two stars. As always I will try this place a second time because I really want to give a better review.

Jan C.

Yelp
They are back up to five stars for me. I ordered pizza and garlic rolls yesterday like I usually do and every single item was perfect just like how they used to have it. I just realized that I've been going to Atlas since 2014 or was it 2015 when they opened? So it's been over half a decade and I've been a loyal customer. The manager, Matt, is not only super nice and chill but went above and beyond to make sure that the quality of our food was stellar. So they are, once again, my favorite pizza joint in Portland.

Yelp
I am genuinely perplexed by the mixed reviews. My group carried out two kinds of stuffed knots (meatball; salami, peppers, and feta) and two small pizzas (jalapeño popper and the one with meats, olives, and peppers) The pizza had a good amount of sauce, the flavors were delicious, and the crust had a great consistency. I will definitely be coming back for takeout in the future.

Yelp
I have really tried to like this place because it sells pizza by the slice. However, Atlas Pizza's slices of pizza taste sort of flat to me. Maybe they've been sitting out too long, even though they are kept in the glass warming unit. The crust is really bland. I like bland and, sometimes, I've bought a box of those Trader Joe's water crackers or Manischewitz matzo crackers and put them away like some people put away Oreos. However, when it comes to pizza, I'm not looking for a similar experience. The service is sort of flippant, even though it is accurate and expedient. I could do without that attitude, though. Then, there are always 6 types of sliced pizza to choose from. And it's always the same story: 'Excuse me, but how many of these pizzas are neither vegetarian nor vegan?' 'Two.' Good luck landing on a wonderful slice or two with, possibly, both pepperoni and mushrooms. And I'm dropping from 3 to 2 stars, so this is entirely realistic.
