Decide to visit the famous landmark and have dinner there at the same time. Glad we did, because Atomium is a museum/ tourist sight by day, and restaurant by night. Closing time is 6pm, and the restaurant opens at 7pm. So if you do go for the restaurant option, you almost have the venue to yourself, well... Just one of the orb, the tallest one, you avoid the queues and people bombing your photos, it's peaceful and quiet. And this time of year when the summers are long and sunsets quite late. You get to enjoy the beautiful sunset over a great view. Not to mention seeing the Atomium light up like a spaceship. You would not be able to see this if you come in the day.
Restaurant Interior decor is quirky and fun, 1950s contemporary almost. Its over two floors, I suggest the bottom floor to get the full view.
The food was quite decent, certainly larger portions than expected, we tried the regional set menu. Cooked really well. My food pics tells it all.
The staff was amazing and efficient, and although busy, made sure we were at least acknowledge.
Overall a very good night, walking back to the station, at this time, sun has settled, so you get a different look at the Atomium. Even more spectacular than before, and because it was quiet, it made it even more special. Tres bien.
