What an amazing amazing experience. Hats off to the team at ATTA Atta is what I would say a real deal fine dining experience like none other. I had reservations going in because most of the Indian fine dining I’ve tried before were hit and miss (mostly miss) where people think expensive menu with aesthetically plated food is fine dining, but team at Atta is here to prove real fine dining is not dead. Lemme explain everything good about this place and yes it is pricey, dinner for two set me back about $200 something, but boy it was WORTH it. On the night, there was a server in training and this is how training should take place. He was always either observing the main staff, or when he was serving the main staff shadow him to ensure everything is spot on. Each dish is explained carefully while serving and even while ordering the staff is super helpful in choosing what to order all the way down to preferences and level of hungriness (hungriness, is that a real word? But ya reason being we had a late lunch and was not very hungry and they helped us choose the right dishes) Every dish is cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, the chef is a genius. We can see that on the menu as well as it’s perfectly crafted. Also this was a birthday dinner, so our dessert came out with sparkles ✨ and birthday wishes from the staff. Such a nice touch. Bottom line, don’t miss out on this gem of a place.

Great experience dining at Atta last night. Amazing food, great service, friendly staff and peaceful ambience. We tried a lot of items and the platters looked so beautiful that we hardly remembered to take any pictures, I managed to get a few and upload them for reference. The charcoal chicken was unique and tasted delicious. It indeed is towards the pricey end but worth every penny spent. Cheers!

Atta sets the standard for what an Indian restaurant should be. The drinks menu is quite exhaustive with some really unique cocktails on offer. The food is a mix of artistic takes on popular dishes and brilliantly authentic staples, all while being on point with the flavours. The spices suit an Indian palette as well as an Australian stomach and the service is impeccable. Brij is a class act and we loved all his recommendations. I absolutely can’t wait to come back and would keep Atta as my number one recommendation for an Indian food experience in Melbourne.

Visited in Dec 2024 The dinner at Atta was one of my best Indian meals of 2024. The menu has enough vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for anyone to have a decent number of choices to order from. We ended up trying quite a few dishes from the starters and mains menu. Among the starters, the Sikandari Raan was fantastic. In the mains, our favourites were the Butter Chicken, the Pahadi Bhed and the Beef Mircha. You can mention the level of spiciness you want (mild, medium, hot) for each dish and the restaurant can manage accordingly. For Indian taste buds who are used to spicy food intake, I’d recommend just going for the max spicy level as we ordered most of the dishes at that level of spiciness and we were fine with it. If you are not used to spicy food, definitely go for a lower level of spiciness. Also ended up ordered 3 dessert items, of which our favourite was the Shahi Tukda dessert named ‘Bharat’. The ‘Chidiya Ka Ghosla’ dessert was also good in my opinion. For drinks we tried a few cocktails and mocktails which were decent but nothing extraordinary. Overall, this visit to Atta was quite enjoyable and it ended being an excellent dinner. Would definitely recommend folks visiting Melbourne to visit Atta, esp if you like Indian cuisine.

Highly Recommend! My party of 12 and I had the BEST dining experience at Atta. The food was not only delicious but beautiful presented, making each dish a visual delight. The ambience and every little touch was well considered, making our dining experience extra special. We felt welcomed from the very start, the management (Roopali) and staff were exceptional in the way they attended to us, making us feel like we were guests in someone’s beautiful home. If you’re looking for somewhere special to dine, that ticks every box and goes above and beyond, I highly recommend Atta.

Atta Restaurant - An Unpredictable Mix of Highs and Lows! For my partner’s birthday, I made a reservation at Atta, a restaurant highly recommended by friends. We were excited, especially after seeing stunning photos and hearing glowing reviews. After spending 22 days enjoying meals with my visiting parents—many of them Indian—we were both craving something different. However, since this booking was made months ago, we decided to go ahead. The location wasn’t what we’d expected from a fine dining establishment; we struggled to find parking and weren’t welcomed by the typical refined glass facade. Seated by the window, we encountered bright sunlight and closed shades that obscured any view, which later gave way to an unappealing outlook of public housing. I found myself wishing Atta was closer to the beach for an ocean view, but it appears a local pub already claimed that spot. As for the service, it was inconsistent. We had to call the server back initially, as we were still deciphering the menu with the help of online photos. Throughout the meal, a rotation of four different servers attended to us, which made it difficult to build any connection or rapport. A mistake in our order (saffron rice instead of jeera rice) added to the missteps. Using a tablet for order-taking could have helped avoid this awkward moment. Our meal started with Gol Gappa, which looked beautiful but didn’t stand out in flavor. However, I loved the excessive use of sweet tamarind sauce however it may not be something you would expect in authentic dining. The makka (corn fritters) were delicious but incredibly heavy – enough to qualify as a main course. For mains, we ordered the beef dish and Kerala prawn curry, along with Kashmiri naan and jeera rice. The Kerala prawn curry was fantastic and reminiscent of flavors from home, but by the time the correct rice arrived, we were too full to enjoy it. When it came time to settle the bill, the manager was busy elsewhere, and we interacted with yet another staff member, staff number 5. While we left a tip, I missed the chance for feedback, especially to mention that the beef dish was overly salty. I value a good rapport with staff, which unfortunately, I couldn’t find here. As a fan of eating Indian food by hand, I felt caught between the fine dining setting and my natural preference. It was a challenge, especially with rice, as there was no spoon provided. I’d have loved a fusion twist to make the dining experience more utensil-friendly without compromising authenticity. All in all, our dinner at Atta had its ups and downs. The prawn curry and makka fritters stood out, but the service and ambiance missed the mark. Thank you to the team for the experience, though next time, I may look for a restaurant with more consistent service and a view to match the meal. While reading reviews, I discovered there’s a $25 “cakerage” fee if you’d like to cut and serve your own cake. I don’t mind paying, but I believe this touches on hospitality and supporting customers who choose to celebrate special moments at your restaurant. Ultimately, true hospitality goes beyond the terms and conditions.

I recently dined at Atta Restaurant in Melbourne on my birthday, and I must say that the experience was truly exceptional. The service was superb, with the staff being attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. However, what truly made our evening stand out was the exceptional service provided by Rupali, the restaurant manager. She was warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure that our every need was met. Her kindness, professionalism, and dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience were truly impressive. The food, of course, was also delicious, with a range of innovative and traditional dishes to choose from. I highly recommend Atta Restaurant Melbourne to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Be sure to ask for Rupali, as she will ensure that your evening is nothing short of exceptional.

Yelp
Likely the best done done Indian in Melbourne. Good food, good service and a pleasant setting not much more to ask for

Yelp
This restaurant might have excellent food, but the fact that their alarm is triggered by a fly ( some one who works there own words) and the alarm CONSTANTLY sounds, twice in one night at times or multiple times during the week suggests to me that there is an issue with insects or perhaps mice! I would not dine there!!

Yelp
The best Indian food I had. Started with dirty samosa, ordered Lamb Chennai, palak paneer and butter chicken with rice and naan. All tasted good! Finished with dark chocolate torte.. was too busy eating that I only took a picture of the entre dirty samosa

Yelp
Where Atta stands now, used to be a Vietnamese restaurant. So when I drove passed Atta two weeks ago and saw the change, it caught my eye, because the restaurant has a gorgeous facade and dim lighting on the inside, making it look stunning at night. I made a mental note of the new name and checked it out the second I got home, only to discover that it has a very impressive menu and I knew I had to try it. As soon as you walk inside, you are warmly greeted by the attentive staff. It's a spacious interior, so you don't feel cramped like in some other restaurants, and the tables are a good size which is always handy if you like to share dishes. The floors are a polished concrete, so your chairs slide in easily and quietly. The music is jazzy and gives you a feel of elegant dinning, though this can also be attributed to the gorgeous white lamps that adorn each table. Though they have the standards you'd expect like samosas, and butter chicken, they also have some more unusual options that you don't often see. For my entree, I chose the Achari Machli which is a twice cooked salmon in a mustard tempered coconut chutney. It was DELICIOUS. Not only was it one of the more exquisite things I've ever eaten, but the presentation was outstanding. It certainly goes above and beyond what you'd find at many other Indian restaurants. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the flavours were heavenly. The entree came out in a reasonable time, and devoured in seconds. For my main, I opted for what I knew I'd like, which is the butter chicken with saffron rice to share and a garlic naan. I asked for it to be prepared mildly and it was. It was so creamy and delicious and the garlic naan was flaky and totally the best naan I've ever had. Everything came out the way we ordered it and in a good time frame and presented beautifully. I guess you can say for sure this is a modern Indian restaurant without a single familiar clay pot or bronzed bowl. The dishes themselves were trendy and the flatware new and elegant. It all made for a very enjoyable meal. I did notice they did just one Uber Eats order, but no other takeouts. This made the kitchen be able to get peoples food out in good time which is always nice anywhere you go. The restaurant absorbs a lot of sound too, so even with almost every table taken, it wasn't too loud and you could enjoy your conversations without having to shout over everyone. The only negative I could possibly add, is that it is just a touch expensive to justify coming here on a regular basis (which makes me sad). It IS in the Entertainment Book, but those vouchers are now long gone. I'd say for this reason, you'd probably keep this as one of those restaurants you come to for an occasion, rather than having it become your go-to pick whenever the craving hits. I have to say though, that overall, it was very hard to fault Atta and I cannot wait to visit again. I highly recommend it if you love Indian food with a slight twist and enjoy a less casual dinning experience.
