Google
Great spot for a shared meal and a cocktail. The atmosphere and the service are great, and the food is delicious! Particularly the halloumi dish, that was a real standout. Very generous servings, we had to get some take-away.

One of the first few we are in rotorua. Absolutely loved the place, chicken was nice, lamb wasn't gamey and extremely tender, the leek and fish cakes were rather interesting, might not be for everyone and the tenderloin was okay. To me the real highlight was the salad, I love the side salads. Honestly overall pretty solid, can visit again if I'm ever back in the area Love the ambience too. Nice warm cozy vibes.

Google
Atticus Finch was well worth the booking for us. Their dishes are designed to be shared, but I'll tell you what, it was tasting so good I had a hard time not eating it all myself. The whipped olive butter with the bread was delicious. The pork belly was absolutely divine with crunchy crackling on top. The steak was also perfectly cooked and had a lovely chat to it as well. The dumplings were actually very impressive. All in all, we were extremely happy with our food and the service was great too. We had a new staff member looking after us and he was very friendly and helpful.

Google
Vegan options which was nice. I'd give the pumpkin dish a miss in future after forking out $36.. Staff were amazing, the atmosphere was great. Would happily return

Google
We saw the menu when walking by and decided to return for dinner. It far exceeded our expectations!! The cocktails were PHENOMENAL, I highly recommend the Passion of the Finch, the Mr Radley and the Blushing sour. The sirloin was also absolutely delicious. We will be returning here for sure!!

Google
Can’t recommend this place highly enough! We chose to eat here on our last night in Rotorua, and so glad we did! The food was divine, and the service exceptional. I am also gluten intolerant and the GF options were plentiful.

Google
Had a really great lunch at Atticus Finch. Drinks were on point, the tomato juice had just the right amount of spice, and the in-house lemon lime and bitters was super refreshing. The Harper Lee cocktail was also a winner. The Sri Lankan fish cakes were delicious, especially with the coconut chutney and sambal, so much flavour. Steak tacos were packed with flavour and had this amazing sauce that tied it all together. The lamb rump was probably the standout – perfectly cooked, sitting on a tasty harissa base, and came with a really good Moroccan cauliflower salad and crunchy dukkah. Definitely keen to go back – everything was full of flavour and just really well done.

Google
This place has a small vegan menu! They have a mix of indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar and outdoor heating I was quite impressed with the food when it came out. Good presentation, great flavour. Would recommend anything that we ate. Definitely choose this place if you're a vegan looking for food

Yelp
I'd give 6 stars if possible. The owner himself is so involved in the process that inevitably the quality shows in the appearance, service, and food. We had the lamb, sirloin, pork belly, and chicken. The concept of shareable plates was perfect for our family trip to New Zealand. The meat needed no knives as it tender beyond words. Visit twice if you are in town

Michael G.

Yelp
You cannot visit Rotorua without enjoying a meal at Atticus Finch. Wow! Delectable foods prepared with love and attention to every detail. We enjoyed the ginger sesame fried chicken, the pork dumpling, and spiced lamb rump before rounding out our dinner with their cheesecake with lemon curd, rose and pistachio ice cream, and halva crumble. Our only regret is that we must travel south tomorrow and can't eat here again.

Suelynn N.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for dinner. The food is very strong tasting and there's a lot of ingredients mixed in each dish. The taste was too strong for me. The service was nice. There's an indoor and semi outdoor area with heaters and blankets. Parking is around the block and you have to pay at a kiosk via card.

Simone M.

Yelp
We came here at the recommendation of the front desk staff at Quest Apt (stay there if in Rotorua/close to everything). Wait staff sat us promptly and got us menus and water. He advised us to order everything all at the same time to avoid wait times. The location is convenient and close to other great dining option. The peach tea I got was really good, got stronger closer to the bottom so I had to wait for some ice to melt, but it was really peachy and I would for sure order again. We started with the mozzarella balls which were amazing. Think arancini balls but cheesier! We also had the green chicken curry (it tasted so good I forgot to take a pic). The green curry was so flavorful with tender chicken and lots of fresh veggies. Will definitely return when we find ourselves back in Rotorua.

Yelp
The restaurant with the To Kill a Mockingbird protagonists namesake is located on the popular Eat Street. Plates are small but the prices sort of reflect that Spice Rubbed Lamb rump Rubbed with just the right amount of spices (not hot). Adorned with nicely presented salad of broccoli, lentils, pear salad, cranberries, walnuts, feta cheese. Smoked aubergine (eggplant) and a nice semi-rich orange puree. The meat is served medium to medium well even though I clarified it to be medium rare. Spiced Fish Patties Summer slaw, coconut mint chutney, tomato chili sambal. This dish is unique, like a fish version of crabcake. Soy Braised Pork Tacos Paired with a yummy asian slaw, salsa, corn chips, pork is well simmered and flavorful. The tortilla crispy and soft at the same time They took us in for a late lunch and the service was pretty prompt Im rounding up to a 4-star experience. That's all

Yelp
I read so many good reviews that I had to come here. I was disappointed. I think it's overhyped and expensive. The food wasn't that good. I didn't give it a three stars because it may be good for others, but it was definitely not to my taste. To each their own. The service was excellent but the food wasn't that great. I couldn't even find one dish that I liked. And that's really sad since we ordered a lot of dishes.

Hailey R.

Yelp
4.5/5 for me, a great casual dinner with solid food. The restaurant has a pub feel and had a killer playlist throughout our dinner. Service was good and attentive even though the restaurant was pretty busy --a reservation is a good idea for popular eating times. Our host recommended 2 small and 2 large plates for two people. In my opinion that's probably too much food --my husband and I are even big eaters. The pork dumplings were tasty and the risotto balls were excellent to start. We got a side of fries that were probably some of the best I've ever had. For our large plates, we ordered the vegan thali and the braised sticky pork. The vegan thali was very good, with the kidney bean curry as a highlight while the korma curry had a bit too much coconut flavor. Our braised pork came out last and we were so full by that point. The pork was very good but the coconut rice it sat upon was too congealed for my personal taste. We couldn't say no to dessert so we tried the bread & butter pudding to finish. It was good however the berry coulis on the bottom was a tad overpowering. Overall, still a very satisfying meal and a fun menu to pick from!

Yelp
Wow! Incredible! Fantastic! Remarkably remarkable! Exceptionally exceptional! Calling all "Foodies", I just dined here and can't wait to return for another creative culinary experience enhanced by a delectable menu of tapas, side dishes, and main plates delivered in an amazing award-winning artistic presentation akin to the front cover of a food & wine magazine. Atticus Finch has no real competition on Eat Street as it is in a class, perhaps universe, by itself. If you appreciate culinary art, attentive service, tantalizing tastes, and yes, class, in your dining experience, get yourself in here before we both starve! Bon appétit!

Yelp
Atticus Finch (noun) 1. a lawyer from To Kill A Mockingbird who defends people by their character 2. a great restaurant in Rotorua Lunch at Atticus Finch was awesome! Food was good and service was quite prompt. The location is also spectacular with a beautiful park overlooking Lake Rotorua! There are also so many restaurants on the same street. I recommend the fried halloumi and the angus steak sandwich. We also got the spiced lamb rump to share and it was pretty good!

Mandy C.

Yelp
Loved It! The Food was Great! Service was wonderful!! Love the Tapas style. Get to share and try multiple items. Location was right in the center of everything!

Madison B.

Yelp
The peanut butter dessert was amazing. Great food! Service was fast and staff was nice.

Marlon T.

Yelp
Atticus Finch is not only a great lawyer who judges people by character, not their skin color, but it is also a nice place to get dinner in Rotorua, New Zealand. Food is good, service is good--so real no complaints about this joint. If you're in a big party, it would behoove you to make a reservation.

C S.

Yelp
This is amazing place! Outdoor dining and yummy selection of food. I had the shrimp tacos and they were good. Loaded fries were good too (get them with bacon)

Wesley C.

Yelp
Great tapas place. Has a nice drink menu. We tried a few of the small plates and they were all delicious. Especially the Mexican pulled jackfruit.

Bron C.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service at a great price! Prepare for a wait but it's worth it.

Peggy O.

Yelp
The best dinner so far on our trip. All the meals were unbelievably flavorful with interesting combinations. Loved the vibe- outdoor setting. The staff is so upbeat, fun and helpful. Put this in your plans - make a reservation and come here.

Rob B.

Yelp
True hospitality and a delightful evening of wonderful tastes. A very nice and creative use of herbs and spices here. The arancini were delicious! The lamb rump comes with a delightful salad and a sauce seasoned with fenugreek and other exotics that keep your taste buds a tingle.

Cathy L.

Yelp
The owner of our b and b suggested this restaurant...AND suggested reservations. Good call on both counts. I just saw To Kill a Mockingbird in CA (USA) on Broadway soit was an added treat to see all of the names from the play/movie on the menu. Great outdoor seating, good wait staff, delicious food!!'

Patrice G.

Yelp
We loved our dinner so much at Atticus Finch that we came back the next night. Don't miss ordering the dumplings - fantastic! Service was great as well!

E K.

Yelp
"Scout? Stand up. Your father's passing. Oh wait it's the waitstaff -- passing my table. Awful service. Dog food. I wanted to Harper Leave. It's a sin to kill a mockingbird. It's a bigger sin to appropriate this classic novel to cover up for a truly abysmal restaurant.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Great place on Eat Street! Here are some things we tried, fried halumah, sesame chicken, pork and vegan dumplings, cauliflower steak with Moroccan salad, risotto balls, pumpkin...everything came out as it was ready and we shared it all. So many good tastes in my mouth! Everyone enjoyed it!

Andrew D.

Yelp
While there are some good options on the menu, my overall experience was mediocre. The risotto balls were great, pavlova was good, but much of the rest of our food was decent, nothing special. In particular, the dirty chai latte was far below par- it just tasted like a bad cappuccino with no sense of chai. Ultimately, the restaurant seems to have no identity. They try to capture too many cuisines and seem to have a "fusion" of everything that just results in underwhelming food. Furthermore, I felt like our waitress had forgotten about us, leaving us for nearly an hour without a word.

Tim K.

Yelp
Really good, really creative small dishes. We had several meat dishes and something made of pumpkin, all really tasty. Bring your adventurous palate and your appetite!

John C.

Yelp
We were traveling from USA to NZ. We stopped in for drinks and dinner, however they wouldn't serve us drinks wo seeing our passports. We ordered 4 different apps. All were very over priced ( ie 4 dumplings for $24). The worst part was when we ordered nacho chips and salsa, 80% of the chips were stale. The ambiance was not great if you weren't sitting outside. Service was not fast, but was able to explain the serving sizes to us.

Vincent K.

Yelp
If horrible hospitality was the goal they are the rockstars of it. I would say they are the most unethical restaurant I've ever attempted eating. We arrived, no host, no staff that cared to do the door. We walked 50 feet over and a hideous women ran up with a wood sign that said closed. I said we have been trying to be seated and she said if I place the sign down then no more food. I said we waited for you to seat us. This is absurd! The sun just barely set, your business cares more about going home then tending to the customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, these rude business need to be taught the customers are why they have business in the first place!!!!

Preston S.

Yelp
Food was pretty good but lacking in a few areas, definitely not outstanding. Service was sub-par. They were short staffed so we expected longer waits but a drink was made and sitting at the end of the bar not delivered for 10 minutes and not able to be enjoyed with the food.

Jim R.

Yelp
We found this place online and based on the strong reviews decided to give it a try. They are located right in the middle of "eat street", a block-long collection of hip and lively restaurants of every stripe. Most of the tables are outside BUT ONLY AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE MAKING A RESERVATION, which is easy to do at their website online. I booked the night before without any issues for 7 pm on a Saturday. As this is a tapas place-we ordered a bunch of different small plates: -Whipped goat cheese with Beet-Rhubarb relish-came with a number of thin crostini-very good -rocket (arugula) salad with Parmesan -a bit light on the dressing but we felt we needed some greens-just ok -garlic bread-about 6 savory pieces-good but as expected -crispy mozzarella risotto balls with blue cheese sauce (on the side)-blazing hot and quite good -ginger sesame fried chicken tenders with lime mayo-crispy and yummy, one of the best -Garlic&ginger fried prawns (shrimp)-very strong ginger taste but when eaten with the slaw-SOO GOOD. All in all an excellent meal and 6 small plates was probably 1more than we needed. Highly recommended

Yelp
Located in the heart of Rotorua city center, Eat Streat Rotorua is a unique and vibrant dining destination for international cuisines. And among some of the popular selections in this hot spot, Atticus Finch serves local New Zealand cuisine with a flare of international influence. Menu options are presented in tapas style with selection of dishes that allows a series of tastes to be passed around and enjoyed together. See food photos for eyes-tasting! P.S. Rotorua is a small town in New Zealand's North Island and renowned for its geothermal activity and Maori culture.

Randy T.

Yelp
Cauliflower Rice Balls are a MUST!!! The Cauliflower rice balls were amazing! The sauce it came with was amazing as well! Service was great, drinks were cold and good as well. We also had shrimp and some steak. It was a really good dinner and i would def recommend this place to come for dinner. It was nice to have the heater on a cold night.

Molly B.

Yelp
This was the best food we had during our 5 day trip on the North Island. Incredibly flavorful and innovative dishes. I wish we could come back and just work our way through the whole menu. Everything from the ambiance to the friendly staff was perfect. The place started to really fill up by 6p so either go early or make a reservation. I split 4 dishes with my husband but easily could have ordered a few more. I thought we'd want to eat at a few places nearby but quickly discovered we should have just stayed here the whole night. Highly recommend the cauliflower dish and the whipped goat cheese.

Eric J.

Yelp
The ambience of this restaurant is quaint and whimsical. It's located in a trendy block of town appropriately called Eat Street. Offerings are intended to share which is a great way to try their variety of small and large plates. The range of options was impressive and all the food was prepared with precision and was delicious. We had the fried cauliflower, chili chicken and halloumi cheese salad, all of which were delicious. The chocolate mousse for dessert topped it all off. Service was deserving of 5-stars too with a friendly and attentive staff, thanks to Shovani. This was the best meal we had on our whole trip to New Zealand, don't miss this place.

Diane W.

Yelp
We had a nice table outside that provided a prime 'people watching' spot. Our dinner was leisurely and relaxing. Food and service were good. Food: Lots of flavors/textures - Fried Cauliflower, Miso Prawns, Peppered Beef Sirloin, Chili Chicken Service: Friendly, helpful staff. Kitchen was a little slow with extended waits between shared items. Ambiance: Casual, high energy (busy Sunday night)

Seyka M.

Yelp
Our server was not very nice and didn't seem to want to answer questions or interact with us lol. But we were having too good of a time to care much. That was the only downside to an otherwise really wonderful meal. They have a vegan menu (pictured below) that has fun and delicious options that aren't just "you can pay for this whole bowl but we'll leave off the top three expensive ingredients that actually make this a meal". We had a delicious jackfruit nachos dish and a roasted cauliflower dish. They both were truly delicious and unique. www.ForGoodnessSeyks.com IG: www.instagram.com/ForGoodnessSeyks IG: www.instagram.com/ForGoodnessSeyks_Foodie

Alan H.

Yelp
Had a nice meal here but I did not order an entree. They have a great assortment of Tapas. I had the Rissotto Balls that were unique and delicious, a grilled halloumi and mushroom skewer that was great, and ciabatta garlic loaf that was very good as well. The tab was very reasonable.

Khaled A.

Yelp
The peanut butter for dessert was the highlight of this restaurant !!!! A must. We shared small plates of halloumi and cauliflower with dates. I personally liked the halloumi plate more than the cauliflower because it was more salty. For the large plates we tried the lamb and the chicken breast. Both were delicious! Although we felt that the chicken breast didn't need grapes in the dish, made it too sugary. For dessert I went with the peanut butter and my wife went with the coconut tart (the only vegan option). My dessert easily won but I'm biased given I'm sucker for peanut butter.

Alyson J.

Yelp
Very tasty inventive combos. We had the fried chicken, lamb, cauliflower, and squid. Don't worry- lots of veggies served with almost all plates. Lemonade was also very refreshing.

Steven A.

Yelp
Chic, trendy, modern. Our experience was pleasant and the food was delicious. Drinks were not very strong but they had some creative options. I went for the pork belly which was great and would recommend!

Zareda N.

Yelp
Came here based on my fellow yelpers reviews. On my honeymoon, so I wanted to make sure we tried good food, and I wasn't let down. This place is def a restaurant to try On Eat Street. With other restaurants surrounding it, we almost skipped it because the menu wasn't convincing.. but wow the taste def was. The place is not fancy and was pretty busy, service was still good and food came out rapidly and warm. We ordered Ciabatta Rolls with Whipped garlic butter - 5/5 Bread was soft, fresh, and warm. Butter was delish Ginger Sesame Fried Chicken - 5/5 my hubby would come back just for this. It's was juicy and very tasty. Just the right amount of spice (not spicy at all) but a good pepper taste. Prawns - 4/5 a little over cooked for my taste, but very good flavor. Halumi salad - 5/5 DO IT! It's so good, I'm also a cheese lover so might be a little bias. However, the mix of salty with sweet was delicious!! Potatoes - not a potato fan but my hubby loved them Spice rub lamb rump - 5/5 very tasty and perfectly cooked! I

D M.

Yelp
Only bad thing I can say is that the heater ran out of propane during dinner on a chilly winter evening! Other than that, this place was such a pleasant surprise in this lovely part of NZ. Did all small plates, and not one disappointment in the lot. The Prawns, the squid, and especially the haloumi (a local cheese) were all wonderful. Topped it off with the Cheese platter for desert, which was wonderful as well. Service was great, and btw, the had a new propane bottle in place in no time!

Toni C.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful! The place was recommended from the locals and the reviews on Yelp were mixed so I wasn't sure but I'm so glad I ate here!! It's right off Eat Street and the service was great! The menu is designed to be shared. Even though the plates are small the amount of food adds up quickly. I dined in winter so I was on the porch but the heaters were on. I dined with a colleague and we shared two large plates & two small plates and it was more food than we needed. We tried the fried chicken, the curry, the sirloin, and the pork belly. Everything was excellent!! And we even tried the dessert because we were so impressed by the menu. Try this place!!

Laura S.

Yelp
Pork. Belly. Lettuce. Wraps. If you have the chance to order just one thing off the menu, make sure you make it the absolutely mouth-watering pork belly lettuce wraps. They are amazingly juicy and have a sweet, sutble glaze that, paired with crunchy lettuce, warm white rice, and veggie toppings, make a beautiful symphony of flavor and texture. All of their items are ordered to be shared, so consider ordering and sharing a few plates and preparing for a flavor adventure. Alternatively, load up on pork belly lettuce wraps and regret nothing. The atmosphere also makes for a perfect date. Open-aired and candlelit, you can have an intimate, relaxing evening on vacation.

Mary R.

Yelp
Really great food and service! We enjoyed the vegan and the omnivorous options. The flavors, textures and colors were on the mark. Go here if you find yourself in Rotorua. I recommend reservations as many were turned away while we were dining.

Jean L.

Yelp
For two people, Servers recommended 2 large plates and 2 small plates but we had to order more because everything sounded and tasted so good! We recommend the following: 1) Haloumi . Broccoli, Pecan, Cranberry, Rocket, Lentil Salad (GF,V) 2) Roasted Green Veges . Cashew Cream . Preserved Lemon Dressing . Quinoa & Cumin Crisps (GF, DF, VG) 3) Spice Rubbed Lamb Rump . Roasted Vegetables . Red Pepper & Tomato Sauce . Feta Crème . Green Olive Tapenade (GF) 4) Chargrilled Peppered Beef Sirloin . Roasted Onion Puree . Marinated Mushroom, Rocket & Tomato Salad . Pita Crisps . Feta Service is prompt and polite. Atmosphere is casual. Be sure to reserve a table!

Swati R.

Yelp
A+ on excellent service, food, ambience, vibe - everything! We went here based on a local's recommendation and were not disappointed at all :). They have exotic, well paired small and large plates and a fine collection of drinks. We ordered two small plates, one large plate, 3 drinks and a dessert. Everything was excellent and we scraped the last morsel on all 4 plates . It's a bit on the pricier side but all worth it. Totally recommend this place.

Susan C.

Yelp
Atticus is located in a block of restaurants called Eat Street which boasts cuisines from literally all over the map. We chose Atticas based on a suggestion from a local tour guide. We entered to a open aired seating arrangement with about 15 tabletops inside and 20 tops outside . It was cold so we were accommodated with an inside small table. Perfect. We ordered drinks, I a local white wine and my hubby a drink called an Attica Finch. This drink was in his words awful. Gin, apple cider and other such ingredients. Definitely an acquired taste. I sipped it and recommended he get something else, which they accommodated. So this place has small plates and reading on line there had been a series of mixed reviews. We ordered the lamb loin with rocket and dressing, risotto blue cheese balls and shrimp sautéed in a chilli sauce. These were okay, nothing memorable. The lamb was good but served cold. The risotto balls were meh. Shrimp was good. The ambience is not super comfy nor did it seem to have much personality. Quick service though. Another local said try the Indian food as its really good here. Wish we had.

Katie H.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our dinner here! We're sat quickly outdoors on patio area and had really friendly service (at times it may have been a bit "relaxed" but we didn't mind as we were in no hurry). Embrace the tapas plates as this is what they do best. We ordered about 4 plates between two of us and enjoyed most of them & the flavours. Portions were a good size for tapas. Only one I would leave is the potato skins that were a daily special...they weren't really what we were expecting. Good drink list!

pren w.

Yelp
Super delicious food. Loads of gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options and they are all clearly marked so it was easy for my husband and I to find things we could eat even with our allergies. The staff was all lovely and sitting on their patio was really nice as well

Teri C.

Yelp
Hands down the best meal we have had in New Zealand to date! We ordered two small plates and two large plates, which was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. We had the pork, peppered steak, mozzarella risotto balls, and frenched fries. All four were delicious but the steak stole the show!

Michancy C.

Yelp
Delicious. Came here randomly. We ordered several small plates and wine based on the waitress' recommendations. We shared the lamb entree. Everything was really good. The service was great. The wine was fabulous. If we'd been in town longer I'd have eaten there again. Don't pass up dessert. We got the peanut butter thing and the panna cotta...both were delicious.
