"What's the vibe here?Located in the heart of old McMinnville, a small country town with agricultural roots steeped in pioneer history, the brand-new Atticus Hotel stands like a beacon of grown-up sophistication. It's at once classic but modern, with clean lines and warm personal touches thanks to Dutch cruiser bikes at the entry, rich walnut trim, and jewel-toned fabrics. Framed silhouettes of local residents and a custom-made recreation of an artfully arranged nutcracker/walnut exhibit from the 1909 Pacific Exhibition add irreverent touches. And what are the guests like?Creative young professionals who eschew cookie-cutter hotels; overseas wine collectors looking for a taste of Oregon; tasteful empty-nesters enjoying a romantic weekend; and squads of girlfriends chatting away. Tell us about your check-in experience, how was it getting to your room? With just one or two people behind the desk, check in and check out is as warm and personal you might find at a small, family-owned B&B. You're greeted with a glass of bubbly from R. Stuart Co. winery, or an espresso if you'd rather. The hotel is small, with just one elevator and four floors, making it easy to find your room. You don't even have to remember your room number because each door is adorned with a different gilded knocker in the shape of a different creature—sometimes a squirrel, sometimes a fox. The rooms are more about art and creature comforts, not tech, so they feel familiar and comfortable. Now about the room itself—tell us everything. Our 734-square-foot Luxe Balcony Suite was as well-appointed and comfortable a small apartment, with a small dining table overlooking the flower boxes and balcony, a marble-topped bar adjoining the kitchenette, a glass-front mini fridge, and all the tools you need to mix up a cocktail, a cup of coffee, or even a charcuterie plate. The adjacent seating area features two custom, locally made loveseats, a gas fireplace, and a flat-screen TV. Rooms have pillowy beds with headboards clad in hand-painted wallpaper (each different) and bathrooms are minimalist and spa-like, with deep porcelain tubs, tons of counter space, and thick Pendleton robes. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or shower goodies, or wifi?Sure, there's free wifi, but that's a drop in the bucket. Everything about the Atticus feels intentional and well-thought out. There are hooks near the door to hang your coat and bag. Forget Keurigs; there's an actual teapot, as well as a French press and local coffee and tea. Utensils—a cutting board and cheese knife, actual plates, and even a pitcher—mean you can make a nice spread of local cheeses and meats or maybe a pitcher of G&Ts, without scrounging for disposables at the corner deli. A guide book in each room tells you about the art on the walls, all of which came from local artists. And every room is different, from the upholstery on the custom-made couches to the hand-painted wallpaper, so you feel like you're getting a truly unique experience. What's the deal with in-room dining?Make a pot of French-press coffee or tea in your room, or head downstairs for a cappuccino from the front desk. Your best bet for breakfast is to walk a block or two to nearby restaurants like Community Plate, Valley Commissary, or Red Fox Bakery. If you want room service, though, the front desk will deliver pancakes from a nearby food cart. In-room lunch and dinner options come from Bless Your Heart Burgers, a fast-casual restaurant attached to the hotel that's owned by famed Portland chef John Gorham. Juicy smashed burgers, dirty fries, and frozen Negronis are just a few of the options. Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why?Ben Perle, an alum of the Cornell School of Hospitality in Paris, does triple duty as general manager and frequent desk attendant, and he's one of the three partners in the hotel, too. The staff is trained in his mold: to provide warm, personalized service. Anything stand out about other services and features?A renovated building across the parking lot houses a well-outfitted fitness room and a conference room. But the imported Dutch cruiser bikes are our preferred method for getting in some exercise; each comes with a basket for holding goodies—like, say, a bottle of wine. Sum it all up for us—why should we stay here? The Atticus has somehow managed to find the sweet spot between everyday comforts and unique elegance. It's aspirational, yet familiar, and it's perfectly positioned off McMinnville's popular Third Street shops, so you can take advantage of the tasting rooms, antique stores, restaurants, bars, and galleries all within a couple blocks of your room." - Danielle Centoni

Absolutely beautiful hotel in great location, such a cute downtown and lots to do. Pretty sure no other hotel in Oregon offers this much of a welcoming casual but luxurious experience. They greet you with a generous pour of local sparkling wine and they make espresso for you any time you want it in the lobby. Fun amenities like bikes and an Atari you can borrow! Incredible historic building renovation and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Ours had four windows and flower boxes outside. Love the local books and nuts in the rooms too!

I've now stayed at Atticus twice and it is an exceptional hotel. From start to finish the staff and the hotel are very high standard, inviting, friendly, and comfortable.||||Honestly, it felt expensive for a hotel in such a remote area when booking at first but by the time I got into my room and settled immediately felt more than worth the cost.||||Seeing as I have to come to a nearby town at least once a year, I expect I will be staying here a lot more often. It tends to get booked up so book ahead if you can.

Great way to experience Oregon wine country. The Atticus is first class all the way around. Charming hotel and room. The staff was exceptional from check in, service counter, bar & restaurant , to check out. Our flight was a 10pm departure and they allowed a super late 3pm check out! Great experience and walkable to all the unique spots in town. Definitely suggest staying here.

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel is beautifully designed, the staff was so welcoming, helpful and friendly and the amenities are top notch (I love the 24/7 coffee.) It's our second visit and by far this is one of my favorite hotels. If I could move in, I would!

The hotel and staff were wonderful. We really enjoyed the restaurant and the Drawing Room for our small private family dinner. The 24/7 complimentary coffee bar is great! We highly recommend the Atticus Hotel.

Atticus is a great hotel that offers fantastic guest services. Ideal location for wine tasting. Front desk team was very polite and courteous. They greeted you with a smile and a fresh cup on cappuccino at any time.

Enjoyed our stay. Wish the concierge had taken the opportunity to wow us. We figured it out any way. Would highly recommend Thistle restaurant and visiting the Coleman winery. Make reservations. Best coffee at the hotel!,

Google
One of the best stays we’ve had. Every detail of this hotel is executed to perfection. Rooms are great, staff are professional and truly welcoming. Chef Michael Browne serves fabulous dishes at Cypress and Kahlil works wonders at the bar. And the Town of McMinnville is a true gem. We’ll be here again soon! 🇨🇦

Yelp
"Lipstick on a pig" is the expression that comes to mind when I thought about how to describe this hotel. As others have said, they are one of very few lodging options in this area, so they do have a captive audience. The $500/night room rate is ridiculous, considering the lack of any real amenities. It felt like an economy hotel that tricked you into thinking it was fancy using high prices, really nice decor and an espresso machine. There was no soundproofing at all and you could hear every word being said in the next room. Bring your white noise machine if you are a light sleeper. Front desk staff could benefit from hospitality training (smiles are free). On a positive note - great location, the beds were very comfy and pretty fresh flowers in the lobby.

Neesh S.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! The Atticus Hotel is fantastic. It is pricey but you get a boutique experience like nothing else. The bathroom was massive, the bed was super comfortable, and it is super dog friendly. The small touches clearly indicate that the staff make sure each and every inch of this place is built to accommodate. Plus it is located right off the main street in McMinnville.

Michelle E.

Yelp
Perfect place if you are looking for something special. Lots of nice touches that I won't spoil for others. Location is wonderful too for dining, shopping, tasting rooms, if you don't feel like venturing to nearby wineries. No regrets on this splurge.

Yelp
Amazing stay! The hotel is great and perfectly located! Dia at the concierge was so thoughtful and helped us plan our entire trip and was spot on in all her recommendations - even finding us places that were open on Xmas eve. The food at Cyprus is delicious as well! We will definitely be back!

Maggie W.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that this is a lovely place to stay. The customer service was exemplary. The room was beautiful, clean and I loved that every door had a different knocker on it. The staff was thoughtful and very informative about what was going on in McMinnville. The room was stocked with complementary tea and coffee from local vendors. We ate breakfast in the restaurant down stairs it was a nice meal. If you are lookfor a romantic holiday weekend or anniversary thus is the place. It is definitely worth the money. Special shout out to Hannah S. for making our anniversary stay special!!

Brittany N.

Yelp
Wow! I never thought I would be stopping in McMinnville more than once, but after our stay at the Atticus, it's hard to say never. Almost as if we were at a resort, we were greeted with champagne upon arrival. The 24/7 espresso options and in room French press with coffee and tea were an excellent touch. I loved the fireplaces in the room and the many seating options in and out of our room. Dia, at the front desk, helped pick out and set up our two favorite components of our trip. Every employee was lovely!

J.R. B.

Yelp
WOW! If you are coming to McMinnville you have to stay at the Atticus! The entire staff is so warm and welcoming. Rae in particular made us feel so welcome. Hannah did a great job planning our stay and winery visits. The rooms feel like you are staying somewhere that costs two or three time more. The coloring room is cozy and a great place to start your day with an espresso. This is located right in the heart of town with lots of restaurants and tasting rooms in walking distance. I would definitely recommend leaving town and going to the vineyards for tastings if that is what you are in town for. This is the perfect spot for a romantic weekend, board retreat or friends get away!

Stacie H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at Atticus! The hotel is very modern and in a central and safe location. Easy free street parking although valet was also available for $15/night. The staff was welcoming and provided complimentary champagne at check in and a McMinnville map with recommendations. I stayed in a studio room and it was definitely sufficient. Not luxe but comfortable and well done. I've never had a nut cracker in-room before so that was a unique touch! Other highlights were the complimentary cappuccino bar in the lobby and the market with a great array of goodies. Check the website for special promotions. I was able to snag a third night free!

Adam B.

Yelp
This place is really fantastic. They take care with every detail, including bowls and dog beds sized to your dog and their needs, asking repeatedly if you need help with activities or reservations or recommendations. The complimentary espresso drinks behind the check-in counter, all day and evening, is great--and the staff know what they're doing as baristas! The rooms and lobby are lovely and well-designed. The hummus et al place in the restaurant is EXCELLENT. Thanks Atticus hotel!

Yelp
This review is long overdue since we had our wedding on 5/29/22. It was such a treat to stay at Atticus Hotel for our wedding weekend since we got married at Furioso Vineyards nearby. They were accommodating, beautiful rooms, and great food on the main floor! It's also where my husband and groomsmen got ready. It will always be a special place!

Susan K.

Yelp
The customer service here is top-notch. My husband and I were in for a three day weekend and stayed at the 3rd Street Flats. The air conditioning in our unit over this 90° weekend was not working correctly. The manager at the Atticus was on top of the situation and checked multiple times during the day to see if the problem was rectified. She ended up offering us a room at the Atticus Hotel the last night since the air was still not working, and was very generous with her compensation for her inconvenience. We have stayed here multiple times and are never disappointed. Thank you Courtney and Tricia for all your help this past weekend.

Carol C.

Yelp
Stayed here for 4 nights with my husband based solely on all the 5-star reviews. The hotel is okay, and there seems to be very few other hotels in McMinnville, which is where we wanted to stay to do some wine tasting in the Willamette Valley. As another reviewer who stayed in late May, 2023 noted, the 3 stars rating is on the generous side. The 'pluses' of the Atticus are definitely the location, which can not be beat, for being walk-able to several restaurants, small shops and the Farmers Market on Thursdays. The king bed in our 'suite' was also very comfortable, and I am admittedly very picky about beds! The 'minuses' to the Atticus unfortunately are several. The suite we rented was advertised as having a "fireplace". It was our anniversary, so instead of a standard room, we went with the more expensive suite because the "fireplace" sounded romantic. Imagine our surprise when we opened the door to the room and saw an electric facade of a fireplace. It should be listed as a 'faux fireplace' , so people will not be mislead in to thinking it is a wood burning or even gas fireplace. The other disappointments included one small TV (maybe 32") in the living room part of the 2-room suite, no TV in the bedroom. The TV was so small it was hard to see or hear from bed so if you plan on watching TV while you doze off to sleep you might want a different room! The shower had very poor water pressure, and was not adjustable at all. You could not adjust the spray, and it was not a hand held shower head. It was placed very high up on the wall of the shower, so it was hard to rinse off, took forever to rinse your hair if you have long hair, and just seemed strange not to be able to adjust even the spray. We had housekeeping service our room only one day out of 4, and it appears they only replaced the towels and made the bed. The rooms were not vacuumed, dusted, sheets were not changed, nor anything else that we noted. Although you are charged a nightly fee for valet service (there is no option to self-park your car), the valet was NEVER at the valet stand, morning, noon or night, whenever we wanted to take our car in or out. We were left standing outside the hotel EVERY SINGLE TIME we wanted to go out or came back to the hotel and ended up having to go back inside and wait in line at the front desk to ask where the valet was. It was inconvenient and annoying. And despite tipping the valet anyway every single time we took our car in or out, he never once offered to take a suitcase out of the trunk, open the door for myself or my husband, or lift a suitcase in to the trunk of the car when we checked out. There is only one elevator in the hotel (we were on the 3rd floor) so if it happens to be a busy week, you will potentially have a long-ish wait for the elevator. We took the stairs several times but I have a long standing knee problem and it was not ideal. And lastly, although the Atticus prides itself on offering hand made espressos, available 24/7, and the friendliness of its staff, I found some definite room for improvement in that area also. Several of the staff members, one older, heavy set, dark haired woman in particular, was downright rude and condescending when I asked for lattes in the morning. One day I asked for some sugar packets to go with the lattes, and she actually said to me (in a nasty tone of voice) "Are you out of sugar in your room??" Huh??? !!! (There is a French Press coffee machine in the room, along with a couple packets of sugar that was not replenished by housekeeping. I had neither the time nor the patience to figure out how to use a French Press, and like cream in my coffee so it would be useless anyway. Obviously, if there was a stash of sugar in my room, I would not be asking for it, but regardless, you would think with the 'above and beyond' customer service they claim to have, the woman would have just said 'absolutely' and handed me a couple sugars instead of giving me the third degree!) Another morning, same woman, I asked for 2 lattes, and she doubled the cups for some reason. The small shot of espresso (and in my case, mixed with half and half) is just not that hot, and in no way required a sleeve or double cup. She then loose-laid lids on top since the lid would not fit correctly on a doubled up cup, so that when I picked up the 2 coffees, one of them spilled all over me since I was not aware the lids were not on the cups securely. All in all, the Atticus is just an okay hotel. I personally do not think it is worth the $500+ a night, the service and ambiance is not up to par with other hotels in that price range, and no matter how hard the owners like to think their employees and their level of service are extraordinary, the reality is that they fall short on many levels.

Martin A.

Yelp
Generous at three stars. First impressions matter. Woman at front desk has a severe attitude toward new arrivals. Never a smile. No eye contact. Couldn't be bothered. Requesting full bedding service does NOT include linen change! (We were there four days!) At the foot of the bed is a mirror. To the right of the bed, on a far wall was the TV. Forget about watching TV in bed. Weird design. On the positive side. Three staff members went out of there way to be helpful. Kudos to Hannah S, Ann, and Nalu. Above and beyond. The Atticus is the only 'class' act in the town. DO BETTER! (

Oliver J.

Yelp
I went to Cyprus Restaurant in Atticus hotel on Mother's Day, and whoever curated the drink menu was a genius! Cleanest food in town, and friendliest staff. The interior is amazing! I loved it there, and i very much recommend eating there!!!

Yelp
After a very long drive from Seattle in pretty much the pouring rain.. we pulled up to the Atticus. It's the tallest little building in its neighborhood (which is a great location smack in the center of town). The valet was super attentive and even offered to check us in when he saw the hotel clerk was on another call. I made the reservation via Hotels.com, and they pulled it right up along with offering a complimentary glass of bubbly. Yes please, time to drink after having my eyes peeled on a slippery highway for a few hours. Bubbles are much easier to look at. In the lobby sits several couches and seats made of plush velvet in shades of blue and green, lamps glowing Edison style. There are little antique trinkets and maybe the very first viewfinder ever (very cool). The door knocker (nice knockers) was a hand that I very much shook upon my entrance. lol The room is quite spacious, with a decent sized bathroom to the right (although no shower door, so heat did escape me when showering). The mini fridge is more like a wine chiller (not cold enough to keep my leftovers from dinner, unfortunately), but great for stockpiling your purchased vino from the local vineyards. A tea station complete with honey straws. Thick colorful Aztec looking robes on the wall, a nice sitting area complete with a bowl of local walnuts and hazelnuts, and a cracker! The bed is large and very comfortable. My one real gripe was that when I was searching for the perfect hotel, I checked the box for fireplace, as it's chilly this time of year. Yes, there's a fireplace, but no it's faux. It looks cute, but I would have felt the same heat from the television displaying Alexa's fireplace channel. Maybe ours didn't work, I set the heat to high (only two push buttons), and it was cool all through the night. :/ The phone also has the old school rotary look, but that as well, is just for show. We ate dinner downstairs, and the food was tasty and portions were adequate. When checking out, they have a 24/7 beautiful espresso machine and you can have yourself a complimentary jolt for the drive back! Super fun hotel, a lot of attention for detail, but for the amount of money paid, I expected a working real fireplace.

Michele R.

Yelp
Top notch hospitality from friendly staff (some of whom have previous experience at the incomparable Allison in Newberg), delightful early 1900's-ish design of public spaces, great location for walking proximity to downtown McMinnville eateries and to drive to wineries plus a good in-house restaurant keep me in "4 star - fan" mode. But for $350ish/night paid for a Luxe Studio King Suite (on the "Penthouse floor" - 4th floor of this four floor building) we expected more comfort and convenience in the room. If evaluating room alone for price paid this would be barely "3 star - aok". Seeing surfeit of 5 star reviews it seems my husband and I are in minority voice for not loving the room. So it might be helpful to know about us for context. We are...ummm...well aged like good wine...travelers so outside the "20 - 30 something" demographic that shows up in much of the hotel's marketing collateral. We are neither picky people nor cheap ones. (Although like any travelers we are expecting a good value return on the investment in a hotel room.) We happily stay at a well run mid-range price property like Springhill Suite (like the one in Bend Oregon) or Hampton Inn (like the Pearl District located one in Portland) and we have also happily payed plenty more than the price at Atticus to stay multiple times at luxury inn The Allison in Newburg and boutique hotel The Stephanie in Cannon Beach and we've been plenty pleased with lower end "mom n pop only place for 100 miles" places like Wagon Wheel Motel in Alturas (CA) at about seventy bucks a night for a clean room and working bath. It is a function of expectations going in for value and price point. At the price point at the Atticus, the room fell short for us. I posted photos and captions so I won't write a lot about room deficits from our view. Different strokes. For us it is about form and function. Function here was funky: *No drawers for clothing and we had to call for luggage racks - none were in room - to set luggage on and 'live out of it'. *Poor lighting throughout room, especially bath vanity. (Great shower though.) *Wine fridge in room but no space for stuff otherwise. *In room coffee French Press set up in awkward narrow space. (Good brand though.) *Awkward "hard right angle of neck needed" for TV viewing from sofa. *Electric wall fireplace of 'old school' - I'd have been happier with the space used for a dresser for example. Would we stay again? Maybe. Given the assets I named in the opening. One of the reasons we didn't stay in McMinnville before during many trips to the Willamette Wine country was slim pickings in lodging. But when we recommend it to friends and family - and we do - we recommend it with our room commentary included. THIS N THAT: PARKING - at public lot but they have a GREAT valet service - like all the staff here that service was top notch. ACCESSIBILITY - although designed to look like an old hotel, this is in fact newly built and pubic spaces are ADA compliant - the law is 30 years old after all - and there are accessible rooms in the hotel, although in only one class of service and not in all classes of service. RESTAURANT - in house on ground level is Red Hills Kitchen owned by the Red Hills Market (Dundee) and not the hotel. Serves B, L, D. They were still getting service 'trued up' when we stayed but one of our entrees at dinner was in the top five of "best dishes in recent memory". Breakfast menu is small but good eats. I understand they have had another chef turnover - so 3rd since opening I think - since our meals there. (Tip for a great breakfast or lunch is 'order at counter' Valley Commissary just a short drive away in The Granary complex. And for delightful dinners, both Pura Vida (Latin) and Pizza Capo - conveniently across the street from each other downtown.) BUBBLES - at check in one is offered a glass of sparkling wine. I see reviewers mention Champagne but it is not that...it is a local vintner's very good sparkler...label name "Bubbly" I think. Delightful as are all of the other wines by this maker, R. Stewart, and their gracious "all are welcome here" tasting room is walking distance from the hotel. One of the things we most enjoyed on this trip - and we visit a lot of wineries and once belonged to multiple Willamette Valley Winery clubs - was our tasting at the R. Stewart room. Recommended. BARGAIN LOCALS RATES AT LAST DITCH? - I think I heard a desk person talking with a walk in who asked about a bargain "locals" rate. That is for empty rooms not reserved by X:00 (5p I think) there was a deep discount offered for a one night stay. Makes sense they would do that rather than leave the room revenue lost in total for the night. If you're traveling without need for reservations and looking for a late check in, one night stay you might walk in or call on day of to ask about this rate.

Yelp
Everyone and everything was simply top notch and genuine throughout. I've stayed in 4-5 star luxury hotels and resorts and this was by far the best ever. The amenities were bountiful, room accommodations excellent, decor was warm and cozy, the Pendleton robes were perfect touch, the staff and customer attention was unmatched.

Mary C.

Yelp
What an awesomely wonderful stay. Very comfortable and homey. Centrally located to shops and restaurants in downtown McMinville. They offer wine tasting at check in by local wineries, or you can get a glass of bubbles. They can make an espresso 24/7. Some free street parking but they can valet if you need. Room service available. Lovely local restaurant attached called the Red Hills Market.

Ellen S.

Yelp
OMG! This is the cutest hotel we've ever stayed at! Stayed at the luxury bunkroom which houses 6 ... four bunk beds and one king (or queen) bed. The amenities are incredible from the walnuts and hazelnuts (McMinnville was known as Walnut city but now is known for Hazelnuts) with nutcracker in room (some how fresh walnuts and hazelnuts taste 100X better on vacation, right?), bathroom products (wish i could buy the body wash and lotion!!!!), coffee and tea (from local merchants - Flag and Wire for coffee) to the local raw honey sticks, to the homey and comfy bathrobes. I could go on, but their website does a better job of describing everything they have. They also offer continental breakfast from 8-10am with fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt and coffee. At the lobby they have espresso anytime of day, with either whole or oat milk (delicious as I had a few during my stay) and cute dutch bikes to ride around town. Oh, they also have a mini library in your room with books hand selected from locals along with how they would spend their deal in McMinnVille. Love how creative with personal touches and details to make your visit feel special here at the Atticus. Kudos and wish more places were like this! The service is also incredibly accommodating, helpful and friendly. They all seemed very young, impressive and professional. I'm trying to figure out how and when I can visit and stay here again!

David T.

Yelp
The hotel was nice but stay away from the restaurant. My wife had the paella, the shellfish was over cooked and to tough to eat. I had the crab Mac and cheese, it was very dry and very little crab. I ordered a $14 Old Fashion and got a one finger drink:( There are much better restaurants within a few blocks for far less $$$$

Sandy H.

Yelp
This is the hotel you've dreamed of. The attention to detail and comfort is second to none. Not only do they great you with a glass of champagne on arrival, the entire ambiance of the property is simply delightful. We were lucky enough to stay in the Howard Hughes suite and what a treat! Huge sitting area and kitchenette with unique antiques and books you can settle in front of the fireplace with. Plus, if you love the book you can take it home with you and they'll simply charge you $15 so you can finish it. Each door has its own brass knocker, from squirrels to eagles, to deer. The staff are amazing and welcoming and simply help make this a weekend to remember. It's located close to all the wineries in the region but you may find you don't want to leave the hotel, it's that delicious to stay in. I can't recommend this property highly enough.

Suzie C.

Yelp
This place is really amazing. Came with my husband after we had an accidental ghost tour at Hotel Oregon and Washington blown away by the hospitality of Ann at the front desk, she showed us around and we fell in love with the vibe here. The rooms are so hip and gorgeous. The beds comfy. Every detail is perfect. She poured us a glass of bubbly and checked us in. Our night was relaxing and rejuvenating. Sebrina was also so kind and hospitable in the morning. She showed us the bunk room for a later travel date and we were amazed. Make sure you check out this room! Perfect for a family get away or a girls weekend. She also made us a complimentary espresso on our way to breakfast. We give this place a 5 stars

Raspberries and thyme homemade jam!! The perfect breakfast and most attentive service. Delightful and delicious!! I'm nuts for seedy and grainy toast which arrived with my scrambles. I was dipping my toast in the locally made jam, it was so-SO good.!! I'll be back for more. Gifts abound in an enchanted, mini gift shop that's has something for everyone to love.

Yelp
Stayed in the penthouse at the Atticus over the long weekend. It was a perfect space for our family of 4. The balcony was a plus. The room is very spacious, 24 hr espresso bar, excellent customer service, bikes for use, good food and a perfect little snack shop downstairs with great beer/wine selection. Great place!

Yelp
Best hotel ever! We went on our honeymoon and before we even landed the workers where amazing. Maria helped us check to see if the room was available. Jared the doorman was always so helpful and professional. Ann who would normally work during the evening was always so nice and positive. After a long day it was really nice to come back to this warm environment. Finally, the house keeping is amazing. The room always looked like we checked in the for the first time. Can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Maybe one of my favorite boutique hotels ever. Pricey but what a great place and a great experience. From the welcoming glass of bubbly, to the room which was amazing, to the fresh whole nuts and nutcracker, to the classic Atari games, to the complimentary tastings at many of the local wineries ... I loved it!

Yelp
This hotel is exceptional. If you're searching for the best lodging in Oregon wine country stop looking, this is it. I'm breaking a long hiatus from posting reviews due to my newfound love of this hotel. I just returned from a two night girls getaway. We were considering the Allison but wanted to see what else was out there and found Atticus. Step aside Allison because there's a new player that's gonna give you a huge run for the money. I've stayed in about 10 different hotels in the past few months due to work travel, and this was by far the best place I've stayed in a long time. I'm picky. Very picky. Here's what I love: - Extreme thought in every detail. The doormat in the elevator has the name of the day on it, and is changed out every day. The books in each room are curated by a local, whose bio and recs are stacked with them. Upon settling into your room, you receive a call asking if there's anything further they can do to help make you at home... these are just a few examples. - The sense of place. Everything is local. Local art. Local food (a bowl of Oregon walnuts and hazelnuts in each room). Local team including being owned independently by locals. -Gorgeous decor. I didn't want to leave. I could live there I loved the style so much. -Value. Not cheap for Oregon but compare this to similar places and you're saving hundreds. -Location. You're one block off the main st of a wonderful small town. Within three blocks we walked to wine tasting rooms, meals, a local bookstore and a spa. There's really no need to get in a car if you don't want to. -Service. People make a place and service was the best I've experienced in a long time. Please don't tell everyone. I want to be able to go back but they also deserve success, so maybe tell a few ;-)

Yelp
Super awesome hotel with awesome complimentary cappuccinos and healthy nuts! Super friendly staff. Great bar and restaurant!

Yelp
Pros: - very pretty / "instagrammy" - well located - clean - staff are polite and pleasant in straightforward interactions Cons: - Mess up with our reservation and poor handling of the situation, with really bizarre passive aggression. We had booked a trip before, cancelled and then rebooked for a longer stay. The hotel clearly hadn't properly cancelled the entire original trip as on our day of arrival they texted to ask if we had others coming on my name or if it was a duplicate booking. When I suggested the latter, I was told it would be fine and that I wouldn't be charged a penalty!? What a bizarre thing to even reference. Why would I be charged a penalty. It felt super passive aggressive. Then, on the Saturday, while at a friend's wedding party I got a call saying we should have checked out. When I explained that we had a reservation until Sunday (see photo attached which was sent to me last week), I was told they had no rooms and I had to come back and empty the room. When I got off the phone, I took a pause and then called back to say that didn't work for us. I politely suggested that maybe they had cancelled the wrong booking/this may be tied to the duplicate issue. To their credit, they resolved the situation, but to be clear, had I not called back and challenged, their solution was that we leave a wedding and vacate the room... There was zero apology and instead there was a bizarre self congratulatory attitude for resolving. - Then, we get back to the room on the Saturday night and it had not been cleaned (this is a $490 per night room...) - At check out when asked about the stay, I tried to lay out my disappointments. The staff member (Michelle) was polite. However, it was obvious there was no interest in hearing me, as she kept cutting me off to show sympathy but always mid sentence (note- in customer service there is listening to hear vs listening to respond...). Like the day before, she instead wanted to tell me how they had resolved and actually specifically told me that our earlier reservation was the longer one and we had renewed with the shorter one (incorrect as evidenced by the photos). I explained that part of my frustration was I was being made to feel like the issue was my fault. She said, "Well it is POSSIBLE that it was the hotel's fault," but it was clearly delivered in a tone that suggested zero accountability. - In summary, the staff generally show a high degree of confidence in the fact there is a strong demand for the rooms. However, we experienced quite low accountability at key points. I get that that works when you are the only game in town, but these things catch up with a business over time.

Yelp
We stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Complimentary champagne and espresso at the front desk upon checking in. Beautiful rooms. Relaxing bathrooms, with the comfiest bathrobes ever! It's just an all around gorgeous hotel, and they give you top notch service. I can't wait to come back and stay here again sometime.

Yelp
Fantastic location. Great rooms. Great service from friendly staff. Seemed more like a 5-start place than a 4-star, and the prices reflect it. Good on-site restaurant for brunch: biscuit and chowder, YUM!

Yelp
I have never had such an all-around incredible experience at a hotel. Atticus hotel is more like a home away from home. It is welcoming, refreshing, clean and beautiful. Even more incredible are the people who work there. We were so well taken care of from the beginning. Specifically, Sebrina and Ruben were warm and welcoming, polite and professional. Every morning you are welcome to have a cappuccino or espresso, and every evening, wine. The rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. Atticus Hotel is our go-to destination in the Portland wine country!!! See y'all next time!!

Yelp
A world class gem of a boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Mcminnville! Fantastic design everywhere you look and exceptional service! We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at just how nice it was! Walk to wineries, restaurants and shops or ride the awesome Dutch bikes! Attention to detail and pride shines bright. Our new getaway of choice! Dog friendly too!

Yelp
We stayed at the Atticus on Saturday August 11. Stayed in the Bunk House room. It was an incredible room. The staff was bar none the best ever. The only complaint I could possibly have is the phones in the rooms look like the old school dial phones, but you actually push the numbers. If that's the biggest issue you have with a room you know it's amazing. Thanks Atticus staff.

Yelp
So happy we stayed at this lovely new hotel in the willamette valley. So unique and clean with thoughtful offerings. Greeted with complimentary champagne. Complimentary espresso or cappuccinos made to order anytime of the day. Complimentary bikes to ride around town with water bottles. Small gym but useful. Lovely decor and inviting staff. Stayed in junior suite that had plenty room to move about and feel a good separation from the bedroom, bathroom and sitting area. Wish the shower had a door to keep the heat in better from shower and not splash water everywhere though. Pricey but worth it for a Great experience. Easy side street parking and close to everything downtown.

Yelp
Mcminnville is a weird place. You either pay for a hotel that's way over priced (here) or you get a motel 6. The room was great. The people who work here, not so much. One male employee who worked the late night shifts was super sweet. You could tell he had experience in customer service. I tipped him well. Other employees.... not so much. The woman working the front desk was extremely annoyed she had to deliver my food deliveries to my room. I ordered a coffee earlier in the day and she let the door dash driver bring it up to my room with my permission. Later that night I ordered a pizza and gave her a courtesy call to let her know I was fine with him bringing it to my room. She told me she let it fly earlier with the coffee but didn't want random pizza guys in the hotel (understand) but she was clearly annoyed and said she would deliver it. This place isn't busy guys, every time I've been down stairs the employees are bored out of their mind on their phones. If I'm paying $350 a night why can't the people at the front desk deliver my food to my hotel room? and why the bad attitude? When she delivered my pizza I looked through the peep hole and said thank you. She threw her head back clearly annoyed, put the pizza down and walked away. Wth?

Yelp
My husband I I just left the Atticus Hotel after spending a week in the area wine tasting. The hotel is gorgeous and very centrally located for our wine adventures. The rooms are very comfortable and very well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely chose The Atticus for future visits to Oregon.

Yelp
I can honestly say I have never had a better experience at a hotel before than I had at the Atticus Hotel! The valet, front desk and kitchen staff were all so accommodating and helpful and all around pleasant people. I stayed in the Bunkhouse and the room alone made me want to give this hotel a great review because it is such a cool concept. It is the perfect room for a group of friends who don't mind sharing space. While there are a few things about the room itself I would change (shower in its own room, large mirror in bathroom rather than 2 small mirrors above each sink) I can't bring myself to take off a star because my whole experience was beyond amazing. Highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
Love this new hotel! Beautifully designed and every detail was thought through. Perfect location to walk around town. Excellent breakfast included with the room and incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bikes to rent. Oh, and a 24/7 free barista bar can't be beat.

Chris H.

Yelp
I did initially give this hotel only a couple of stars for the room not working properly at a premium price. However the hotel did contact us and attempt to rectify this so I really have to honor their customer service and applaud them. It gives me confidence in visting again.

Yelp
While looking for places to stay near wine country, I happened across the Atticus Hotel and decided to give it a try. I'm thankful I did, because our stay was wonderful. From the moment we pulled up, we were treated with a warm welcome by the valet and front desk and provided a glass of champagne. It was a nice beginning to our trip. The hotel is beautifully decorated as are the rooms. It's obvious the owners have an appreciation for good design as all of the details were very thoughtfully executed down to the walnuts and hazelnuts in the room and local coffees and teas. The tiny town of McMinnville is also worth a visit if you're visiting wine country, with it's tiny boutique shops and terrific little cafes and restaurants. While slightly 'sleepy' it's just what we needed for our trip to Willamette. From the Atticus Hotel we were able to walk for breakfast in the morning and dinner each evening while exploring the town. If I were to return some day I would definitely stay at the Atticus Hotel. Perhaps for the UFO Festival?

Yelp
We were in town for our anniversary to do the wine trail. We had plans to stay somewhere else but someone at a winery told us about the Atticus. We ended up being lucky enough to get a room last minute and it was wonderful. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by the staff with a smile and a glass of champagne. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the parking lot but you would never know since they have thick curtains and shades so you have plenty of privacy. There is a beautiful fireplace and mantle that creates a wonderful romantic atmosphere and lots of nice touches I haven't seen many places. Love that they even give you local coffee and tea. As we were leaving for dinner the front desk host overhead me trying to get my husband to take our picture. She came right over and offered to take it for us. Thank you Atticus for a wonderful stay and can't wait to come back next year.

Yelp
We searched the area for a good starting point for a tour of this wine region and came across the Atticus. It looked almost too good to be true. Wow, the hotel was even better than I expected. Staff was super helpful and attentive (just enough, not too much). We stayed in the wonderful Howard Hughes suite. It was incredibly well appointed--they thought of all the details. The suite was super clean, uncluttered and spacious. Perfect! This hotel was more than I expected. From the local R Stewart Bubbly served at check in to the 24 hour espresso in the lobby to a hotel guest wine tasting in the Secret Room one evening .....we were very well cared for. If you are looking for a location in McMinnville (and I can't imagine why you'd stay anyplace else) this is THE place to stay! Easy walking to all things in this cute town plus easy driving to vineyards. Proximity to many, many good places to eat as well as a lot of tasting rooms right in town make it ideal. And the restaurant connected to the hotel, The Red Hills Kitchen, is one of the best! The staff there is equally as impressive as the hotel staff. Food and presentation were exceptionally good. Josh the bartender has some fantastic cocktails on the list and was also excellent at suggesting the perfect pairing (we were unsure what to order with our dessert and needed a break from wine). Additionally, I contacted the hotel a few weeks before arriving to get a recommendation for a wine tour company and Sabrina was all over it--and found us a phenomenal tour company--Tour Cascadia. I can't wait to go back and stay again!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night, we stayed in the Howard Hughes suite, and WOW. It was so beautiful! The entire staff was more than welcoming and wonderful, we were exhausted from our eventful day (a wedding really takes a lot out of you!) and when we arrived, it was immediate warmth and room to kick our feet back and relax on our first night of being newlyweds. Sabrina and the team really made the entire experience wonderful, and the hotel was from floor to roof gorgeous. The room was huge and VERY, VERY clean, and the service was excellent. We ordered our food for in-room service, and due to the COVID restrictions, we were prepared to go downstairs to pick our order up, but nope! The front desk happily brought our food up to our room and let us continue to stay snuggled up in the exceptionally snuggly robes and on our couch. It was on the Fourth of July, and we were prepared to hear lots of fireworks and parties, but it was very quiet in our room! We were even able to see some fireworks from our balcony and room windows! Overall, it was such a beautiful night and felt so special to be in such a beautiful hotel and provided for from such amazing people running it. We look forward to staying in that same room again on our next little getaway! We loved it here! 10/10, if I could rate it a higher rating, I absolutely would. Lovely place! We are so thrilled and happy :)

Yelp
Overall an amazing experience!!! My wife and I recently stayed at the Atticus for a long weekend/wine tasting getaway. We weren't sure what to expect as this was our first time to McMinnville. When we booked online the hotel wasn't open yet and the only photos online were artists renderings. The hotel did not disappoint. So much thought went into every detail of this new hotel, we really appreciated it. The entire staff was top notch, it was a very personable experience. Brynna at the front desk went above and beyond and made our stay perfect. The hotels location is prime, we liked that you could walk to many bars, tasting rooms, and restaurants. We definitely want to come back.

Yelp
This Hotel is amazing! Room is beautifully decorated with all the amenities to make you feel relaxed. The bed is exquisite! Best night sleep in a hotel, I've had in ages. The staff, room service, restaurant and location in historic down town was all perfect.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to my stay at the Atticus Hotel since it was announced that they were building a new boutique hotel in McMinnville. I have been following their progress for the last few months on social media and was excited to see if it lived up to my expectations. Everything about my stay was pretty fantastic up until the morning of my check-out. The hotel was super cute, clean and my interaction with hotel staff so far had been pretty great. I loved the reassurance of cleanliness with the note on the bedside table that "rest assured that all linens that touched skin has been laundered." Little nit-picky items that they could work on: cleaning the grout/caulking around the shower (without a door to the shower, it splashes quite a bit which causes yellowing), patchwork to the drywall where hooks were moved are a bit obvious, the tile work around the sink looks a bit unfinished, and the handle to the sliding bedroom/living room door pulled off (it's simply glued in place and I just pressed it back in). They also don't have a legit breakfast, although they do order from a neighborhood cafe and juice bar that offers dutch baby burritos. What I ordered contained just chopped up dutch baby pieces and bacon wrapped up in a dutch baby, so it's a bit one-note, but okay for a quick breakfast. If you can live with these things, it's not a bad place to stay. However, my interaction upon my check-out left a lot to be desired. I was really happy that check-out was not until noon so I didn't get up until about 10:30, called down to room service to place an order with Bless Your Heart to be ready when they opened at 11. However, M (Meredith, Melody?) said that check-out was at 11 so it would be best for me to check out of my room and go to the restaurant instead. I was a bit baffled and explained that I thought check-out was at noon. She said that they needed to turn around my room for future guests and reiterated that check-out was at 11. So, I had 1/2 an hour to pack up and be on my way, which threw off my plan for a bit of leisure before my long drive home. I double checked both the website and the email confirmation I received from the hotel just days prior that check-out time was in fact 12 noon. When I was leaving the room I ran into housekeeping and asked what time check-out was and the woman replied, 11, but that she was sure I could get a late check-out around 1 pm if I needed it. At the front desk, I asked M again if she was sure check out was at 11 in case I had misheard her. She said yes. I explained that both the website and the email confirmation stated a noon check-out and that I was a bit surprised and rushed to try to hurry out of there by 11. Her response to me was, "I can't speak to that." and proceeded to hand me my bill. There was no apology or ask if I needed a later check-out. No, sorry about the confusion, that's not right. Please stay until noon or if you need a later check-out, we can certainly accommodate that. I guess the future guests are more important than current guests who have already paid close to $500 a night. I had been thinking how wonderful it would be to come back for a girls weekend and renting out the bunkhouse (which is a great idea, btw), or for a romantic weekend. But this last interaction with M really soured my feelings toward the Atticus. You would think that someone working in hospitality would have the common sense to offer the guest an apology for the confusion or offer a later check-out time. I know I could have asked for one, but it's the response that has left a lasting impression with me. While they are a new hotel, there are likely some kinks to work out and better communication between those who set policies and hotel staff, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but better training should take place. And hiring of people who know the proper way to respond to guests and not bring up the importance of future guests over current guests. The housekeeping staff did a much better job of responding and I appreciated their nice response. They should be working the front desk over M. Unfortunately, these little things really do make a difference and I will likely find another hotel in the area to stay at for future visits. The wedding we had this weekend had listed options between the Allison and the Atticus and I will most certainly have to consider the Allison instead, especially because they also serve an amazing breakfast and had extended check-out times no problem for my other friends who stayed this weekend.

Yelp
After a very nice two night stay at the Atticus Hotel, I asked about my wait list reservation for Friday, July 27th, and I was told I was still on wait list. I decided on Tuesday, July 24th that I should call the hotel and check on the wait list for my room. I was told by the front desk that their was one room available and two other guests were ahead of me on the wait list, and I would be called within one hour. By 8pm no one had called me back and when I called the hotel they said that the room required a 4 night minimum stay, and not just a one night stay for Friday night. I was never told about the 4 night minimum, while talking to the front desk! Unfortunately, this was never my conversation. I asked to have a General Manager call me back.....that turned out to be one of the Hotel Atticus owners named Ben Pearl.... he was less than accommodating. Having traveled from Yountville, CA to McMinnville, OR to experience Willamette Valley, OR Vineyards, I was hoping for the same hospitality as given in Napa Valley, CA in my town of Yountville. Maybe a trip to Yountville, CA for this owner is in order for him to understand what it takes to have repeat business... sorry to say I will not be back to this hotel....the hotel staff, Vineyards and tasting rooms were wonderful! ....but the owner of the Atticus Hotel was not.....it's not all about money..... it's about repeat business.... that 4 night minimum stay was changed at the last minute to make more money over the International Pinot Noir Celebration weekend. The Allison Inn & Spa, a well know and establish hotel in Willamette Valley, OR did not require a 4 night minimum stay. The Atticus Hotel opened in April 2018 and I am very disappointed with their customer service and the owner Ben Pearl's attitude. Word of mouth goes a long way, and I think if the Hotel Atticus wants to have repeat business they should treat their customers fairly, and not change the minimum nights stay at the last minute just to make more money. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel!

Yelp
The Atticus was just what we were looking for in a wine weekend getaway for two. Great location in the middle of wine country, plenty of tasting rooms, shops, and restaurants to walk to, and a fantastic hotel to return to at the end of the day. This place was done really well with thoughtful, tasteful, and local touches everywhere. We had bubbles on our arrival, cappuccino on request, and always a nice conversation or referral on the way in or out. The suite was awesome-great linens, modern classic decor with local touches, nice products down to the honey served with local teas and in room French press. I even loved the lighting, door knockers (different on each door) and the furniture choices. We will be back!!
