It is a consequence of the limitations of the tour schedule that I may have gotten a poor representation of what this restaurant really has to offer, especially since the dessert was so tasty, but I found the main course in particular rather underwhelming. This was our third bowl of boeuf bourgignon in France this week and this was easily the worst, with little flavor and a feeling of haphazardness to its execution. Perhaps the Normandy chicken, a bit closer to Paris geographically, would have been a better option among the only two we were allowed to choose from.
Fortunately, the Crème Brûlée, a notoriously difficult dessert to master, was executed very well, its topping just burnt enough and the caramel underneath the crème just thick enough to hold up but thin enough to break apart with a spoon.
A non-food related demerit in that on a World Cup match night, the TV in the dining room was not working. And also that this was my birthday dinner, in Paris of all places, and I was hoping the food would be more memorable.
The service is quite good, though it isn't really enough to distinguish this restaurant from the pack when there are so many good restaurants in Paris. Or supposedly, I've just yet to really find them...
