Au Lac Dickson Vegan Cuisine

This place comes with my highest recommendation! The vegan food here is absolutely delicious, boasting an incredible array of flavors that truly impressed. What's great is that the portions are very generous, making them ideal for sharing amongst friends. This allows you to sample and enjoy a wider variety of their fantastic dishes. I was particularly impressed with the vegan meat options – they were cooked perfectly, had a wonderful texture, and were bursting with flavor. If you're looking for a fantastic Asian restaurant to visit with friends who are vegan or if you yourself follow a vegan diet, this is definitely a must-visit spot. You won't be disappointed!

The food is completely different from the first time i eat it with my family, the umami from each dish is no more, there is used to be an unique taste in each dish but right now, it worst like boiling food with seasoning add on. We other 7 dishes. 3 dishes already like overcook, fried eggplant but feel like eating chunk of flour, the fried mushroom also same, they used to have a fried mushroom that taste awesome that I still remember the first time i ate it. 2 dishes have burned smell on them. In the end, i feel like we did eat in 2 different place even at the same restaurant.

Every dish we tried was a burst of vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. The Green Curry was rich and aromatic, with tender pieces of chicken and a medley of fresh vegetables. Don’t miss out on the Tom Yum Soup—it’s a perfect blend of tangy and spicy, an absolute must-try! My fav was paw paw salad😍

Aulac restaurant is fantastic for vegans and vegetarians! The food is tastier than fancier places we've tried. It's perfect for those who usually crave meat but want a plant-based treat. Highly recommend!

This is a vegan Vietnamese restaurant, which seems to be a family-run business. Their menu is large and it is fun to choose from a variety of dishes. The taste was ok, but also not extraordinary. To be honest, for the name "royal" I would have expected something more refined. Prices were rather high, although taste, plating and atmosphere did not make up for that… Also ingredients could have been used more generously. The restaurant is spacious and fits many tables. The storefront is entirely made of glass, so the restaurant feels open and exposed.

No doubt one of the best vegetarian in Canberra! Love everything here. Sweet and sour soup is too good. We also tried dumplings ( one of the best ones) and eight treasures stir fry. Everything awesome. Will come again 🌟🌟

Don't do it. Go to wooden. Au lac wooden is my favourite restaurant in Canberra. How these guys take the same menu and make it so bad really is a shame. Entrees and main served simultaneously, music so loud it grates and stir fry so full of liquid it was like pho. Same dish in wooden was amazing and five star. Take the drive it's worth it.

Au Lac Dickson is a good vegan and vegetarian restaurant. Every dish and every drink is vegetarian and vegan friendly. For those uninitiated, Au Lac's menu appears to be regular with dishes like chicken and duck. However delve deeper and you'll discover these dishes are all vegetarian/vegan that taste similar to meat. This is similar to the hawker stalls outside monastery areas in South East Asia. All dishes are tasty and delightful, with special notes for the duck wraps (Peking duck) and thecsizzle plates. On this occasion the zucchini fritters weren't the best as it had a heavier though crunchy batter, that was similar to a banana fritter batter. Usually it tends to be lighter. The Staff are friendly and helpful. You are quickly seated and served. There is plenty of seating indoors and large groups are catered for. There is no outdoor seating for those who are looking for that. Give Au Lac a try and you'd be nicely surprised.

Excited by the prospect of this restaurant but let down by the food, good service nice workers. The food was either incredibly bland and boring or overpoweringly strong. Two stars...

Fantastic Vietnamese/Asian all vegan. Very diverse menu, everything was great, service good. In the heart of trendy Dickson.

Vegan restaurant with mock meat and seafood dishes. I enjoyed the Mongolian lamb and tamarind fish. The eggplant was ok. Lots of other Asian restaurants nearby to also check out in the future

I met up with a friend here when I headed out to Canberra for a conference recently. As always, when dining at a vegetarian restaurant, I found the incredible choice of an entire menu that I could eat a bit overwhelming! We settled on the deep fried tofu, ginger soy beef, and vegetable curry. The service was friendly and attentive; I had originally made a reservation for 6 then had to downgrade to 2 at the last minute, despite the fact that they were quite busy when we arrived. Someone else was apparently having a birthday, and they dimmed the lights and played some ridiculous (proprietary?) birthday song while they brought out a dessert and candles. It was very cute and silly. The decor itself is nothing special...but the restaurant had a lively, young, relaxed feel to it. Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of fake meats that are too realistic...so the soy beef was not my favorite. I found it a bit too beef-like (though this will be a plus for some) and the soy sauce was not terribly well-balanced. However, the entree and the curry were delicious! Overall, a solid, casual, fun option for all-veggie Vietnamese!

Very good food with generous portions, fast service, and reasonably prices -- both for the $10 lunch specials and the rest of the dishes. Service is reasonable and the food is brought out extremely quickly. Seems like one of the go-to vegan Asian places in town. Recommended.

So I may move to Canberra just to be able to eat at Au Lac.The staff are so friendly & the atmosphere is so much fun (at one point the lights went out, 90s boyband music came on & we all sung happy birthday to a complete stranger).And that's before you even get to the incredible all vegan menu at which we had a decent crack.Highlights incl: mindblowing 'beef' rendang, crispy pork with a spicy rub, eggplant hot pot in a rich mushroom sauce & stir fried veg, tofu & cashews.So deliciously filling, nourishing & flavourful.A definite winner

I ordered a $10 Lunch Special Soy Chicken with Veggie and Rice (The door's menu says 9.90 but well) and a $7.90 Soy Duck Wrap. First of all, the Soy chicken really taste and look nothing like chicken, other than it looks a bit white. But the thing is, being a soy 'chicken', it is not that bad in taste and I really like the sauce along with the veggies. I mixed the sauce with the rice and veggie and cleared out the whole plate because it was delicious. It is not too salty or anything, and it is just like a down-to-earth kind of sauce that you might be able to eat at home but too lazy to cook. Maybe as a Hong Kong-er I kind of miss that? Oh well. And the soy duck wrap is pretty good too. To be honest, the sauce is the usual duck sauce that goes along with conventional duck wraps, and maybe that kind of covered the soy's smell and taste (well for me after few bites I know that it is soy, and obviously it is, but yeh you get what I mean). The crispy 'skin' is well done though, fooling people into thinking it is actually meat, whilst it is not. It is overall pretty delicious and such, and I love it. (I LOVE IT) The staff is pretty nice and she asked if I need anything when I was reading the menu after eating the lunch special, and there was also a jar of cold water on the table for me to pour to myself. Oh, and there is no mess in eating all these. I am a clean freak and I did not extremely want to go wash my hands afterwards because there was not that much mess made. Conclusion: IT IS GOOD. If you aim for very realistic soy meat, usually soy duck are best well-made and here it is pretty alright. So you can order that and enjoy. Opinions on price: It is not THAT expensive, I mean the lunch special is not, with the fair size, but well the soy duck wrap on the other hand with the small quantity shouldn't be that expensive. But it is good though. So go for lunch specials or special occasions so you don't cry for your wallet.

Exceptionally good food. Their laksa is truly a regular meal of mine. They also have really innovative dishes that you won't find in most other Vietnamese restaurants. The fake meat is also done really well. I've taken meaty people there who don't realize it was fake; I've also got veg friends who don't like the fake meat because of its realism. Fortunately Au Lac has great options for everyone. And a young coconut juice with every meal is a must.

Amazing food, being a vegetarian it was nice for once to be able to try everything on the menu. Don't be afraid to try the spicy options, I had the Royal noodle soup and it was truly bliss.
