It was my last day in Paris, and I was really eager to try something different! Prior to leaving I had found this place through a Yelp search, and I had always heard such good things about Haitian food! The restaurant is super easy to access through public transportation, and it's located in an area dubbed as "Little Africa".
So I walk in the restaurant and the decor of the restaurant already has me sold. I came around 1pm, and they had jus th opened at 12, so things were pretty slow. There was on other patron, and the waiter was sitting in the back. I was greeted promptly in French, and I said my favorite phrase "Bonjour je ne parle Français". The waiter smiled, said no problem and said I could sit anywhere. The menu was brought out almost right away, and the prices looked super affordable! After scanning through the menu In made it to the "menu" items (3 course meals for a set price). After asking what was included, I made no hesitation and ordered the 14€ meal!
Not long after ordering water was brought out, and the first appetizer followed shortly after! DELICIOUS! The appetizer came with a habanero sauce that I could not get enough of! And even that salad was good! It seemed as though as soon as I was finished with the appetizer came the main course! When I tell you my mouth watered, it literally did! The chicken looked perfectly cooked, the presentation was great, and again I had the magic habanero sauce! The chicken was so good and tender, and the gravy that came with it added and extra touch of awesomeness! I don't think I've EVER saved white rice to be the last thing I eat, but this rice was so good that I had to eat it in moderation to keep from inhaling it!
So the meal was finished, and I was pretty much stuffed until the waiter reminded me that I had dessert. Now at some point during our interaction the conversation switched to being only in French (yep, no idea why. My French level is below basic). So the waiter mentions a cake with what I thought he said were pieces of banana, so when I repeat banana back to him is when the fun starts. He tells me no it's this word, but he can't think of it in English, so an impromptu game of charades ensues and I'm somehow able to guess that the word he was trying to say was pineapple. The cake was delicious! Look at the pics and you will see!
There's no doubt in my mind that if I'm ever in Paris again, that this place will be on of my go to's! Friendly service, very affordable prices and delicious food!
