Fantastic place, highly recommend! Well cooked traditional French cuisine, great choice, fantastic service! Big thanks to the charismatic Naim, who warmly welcomed us, helped us choose the wine (really good wine, recommend!) and recommended the dessert (the souffle is amazing). Can't recommend enough!

We have been visiting Paris every year, except for the pandemic year, since 2007. Frankly, for the last couple of years, we've been here for three months of the year. We've been eating at Au Petit Marguary once every year for ten about years. You can tell that we like the restaurant. I'm here to sound a note of concern. Tonight, the food on offer was just not up to the standard tgst we've previously come to enjoy. My gravlax entree was interesting enough. I liked the fusion between the gravlax and the asian inspired beansprout and cabbage salad that accompanied it. My wife's cereal of asparagus soup was, according to her, very good. However our plats, we both had the veal rib, was pretty awful. The meat was almost cold. What the low temperature do was to make eating the rather fatty cut of meat, unpleasant. The pureevof sweet potato was good but the rib was supposed to be the star of the show. I should have said something but I didn't and for that, I'm sorry. I hope that this disappointment was just a one-off. We will eat at the restaurant again, when we likely return to Paris in September. I’ll post an update. In the meantime, Au petit Marguary, here's hoping that you will dazzle patrons with excellence.

We went as part of a group and had an incredible experience. We shared a perfect bottle of wine and enjoyed pork with noodles and the most perfect baked pear with crumble and ice cream. Service was speedy, attentive, and kind. We were well taken care of with happy bellies.

Google
Tipical small french cuisine restaurant. I had fois gras with brioche for starter, it was very well made, for main course veal with potato, very tender and juicy and for dessert souffle with flambe Grand Marnier, light and tasty also a bit of a show.

Located near Gobelin métro station, this French restaurant serves traditional & local dishes. The set menu is good value for money and the waiter was pretty friendly! We used a smartbox and it was a good experience for a couple!

We had a reservation but showed up 45min late, after negotiated with the chef, the host seated us and we had a wonderful meal & experience. All dishes were elegantly prepared and they taste wonderful. We had the Grand Marnier Souffle, and it's quite a treat. Highly recommended.

We ate at the little restaurant next door, managed by the same staff. Delicious food, attentive staff, we were really impressed

We came here for dinner and it was amazing. Frogs legs for starters and they were delicious, plus the portion was more like a mains. Had wild boar for the mains and I was stuffed! No room for desert:( ! Really welcoming staff who had great sense of humour.

Yelp
When in Paris one should try a soufflé. Searched the Internet and this restaurant was one of several that made great soufflés. I viewed menus as well as read reviews and of course another deciding factor was to have a superb french dinner. Well Au Petit Marguery rive gauche has these attributes and more! We started with a shared salad Salade de gambas, sucrine croquante, vinaigrette à l'orange (King shrimp salad, crispy sucrine lettuce, orange dressing) . The dressing was light not overpowering and the shrimp very fresh. For the Plat my wife had the Magret de canard du sud ouest sauce miel et balsamique, Fricassée de légumes de saison (South-West duck breast honey and balsamic sauce, Seasonal vegetable fricassee ) The duck was medium rare juicy and tender, the vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sauce was a great compliment. I ordered the Lapin farci à la brousse de brebis et tomates confites Mijotée de côtes de blettes et jus de sarriette (Rabbit stuffed with fresh ewe's cheese and tomato confit Simmered Swiss chard stems and savory sauce). This was a fantastic dish. The stuffing was moist and hinted of cheese again not overpowering and the sauce very good. You know a good Restsurant when the sauces are made from many hours of simmering stock and reducing to a thick Demi glacé. Now for the finale. The grand marnier soufflé came out puffed and golden. The waitress took the bottle of grand marnier and poured it over the soufflés and flambéed them. When the flames went out it was time to indulge. These were light fluffy and so so tasty. The waitress was cordial and hospitality above and beyond! We sat in the solarium this was s great atmosphere. We will be returning when in Paris again next year Not sure what others were saying that this was not a lively place! There were many tables full when we went at 9:45pm. You don't rate a restaurant on how lively/busy they are. You rate on food, atmosphere, service ...etc

Yelp
Fairly long menu of well-executed traditional dishes - never best in class (you can find the same dishes better prepared at many other restaurants) but still quite flavourful. Service is attentive and prices are reasonable for the quality. Decent, well-priced wine list. The gougères and bread are delicious.

Yelp
Some of the best food I had while in Paris! Unfortunately, the service was very slow and they clearly weren't overly excited about our American presence but it did little to take away from my experience. I can't say the same for everyone I was dining with though, so if you're looking to be treated with a high level of attendability this isnt for you. But if you're like me and mostly just want to eat incredible food, I highly reccomend!

Yelp
Nice ambience, decent service (not overly friendly but not rude either). I was a little surprised that the bread was already placed on the table rather than brought fresh from the kitchen, but it tasted just fine. I got the foie gras as the appetizer and it was beautifully plated and was delicious. For the main meal I ordered the ribs and once again the plating was artistic and the flavors were deep and rich. It was a bit on the fatty side, so when I completed the meal I felt really full, but no complaints at all. It was delicious. One of my colleagues ordered the lamb, and he complained that it was difficult to chew, and another colleague who is vegetarian felt that the meal was okay, but nothing spectacular (so this is probably not the best place to come for a veggie meal).

Yelp
We've often passed the Au Petit Marguery on trips to Paris, but actually never visited; until now. I'm glad we did. Au Petit Marguery is one of those classic Left Bank restaurants which is inviting but at the same time gives the aura of a classy but expensive place. The patrons, mostly well healed French of all ages, take the menu seriously; indeed this is a place to dine and not to eat. Happily the menu offers a few prix fixe dinners which are both generous and not too expensive. We chose the Dinner Menu for 41 Euros which offered a starter, the main dish and desert, coffee AND a bottle of mineral water and yes a full bottle of very decent Bordeaux. Think about it! My wife started with a fresh melon garnished with burrata and a balsamic dressing. I had a very nice Gazpacho soup, which should have been a hint more creamy, but was still perfect for Summer. For the main entree we both choose their signature Duck breast dish with pears, polenta and a garnish of raspberries. The duck was perfectly cooked and presented. For desert, my wife chose an amazingly fresh strawberry melody while I had a perfect Souffle Grand Marnier which is the house speciality for desert. I can see why. The consistency was that of frothy light clouds drizzled with Grand Marnier. Simply exquisite. Service was spot on and professional and did not miss a beat despite the restaurant being pretty full. I suggest reservations as the restaurant is not too big and does not serve past 10 PM. Petit Marguery remains a quaint bastion of fine dining at an affordable price. Well worth the experience. Bon appetit!

Yelp
A very nice, well priced meal in a traditional French setting. Can sit inside or outside. Several price fix options. My husband and I had food grad, tuna tataki, veal, fish, grand marnier soufflé and Mille feiulle. All were very good! Waitstaff was kind and efficient. I hope I can come back someday!

Yelp
This could have been a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was inviting and the service seemed excellent. The appetizers were outstanding! There was an excellent wine list and the place did not seem unreasonably priced. We were looking forward to a wonderful evening. Then came the main course! Our waiter had advised us that Sea Bream is a mild white fish, not unlike sole. I don't know if he advised us poorly or there was something wrong with it. It had a stronger taste than expected and was most disappointing. I ate barely half my fish and my wife tried about two or three forks full before giving up. We had cleaned our plates of appetizers and vegetables and our waiter asked if there was a problem with the fish since we had eaten so little. We told him what we thought and he did not react. There was no offer of any replacement, price reduction, or any other accommodation. It was as if the restaurant owed us nothing, not even an apology. In spite of wonderful Grand Marnier Souffles for desert, we left feeling very disappointed. It's a shame! Even a complementary cognac, would probably allowed us to leave happy. It is when things do not go well that you learn whether a business values its customers. Au Petit Marguery, apparently does not.

Yelp
This is a great place to go for a great meal on the more traditional side of things. They specialize in game animals, mushrooms, and other "wild" dishes. Everything is classic, and very, very well done. I would definitely come back, and it's a great place to walk home from, past the Pantheon and other classic Paris sights. To start, we had mini chantelerelle mushrooms (girolles) a la bordelaise (sauteed with wine, shallots, and parsley) a terrine with a variety of wild animals (wild boar, foie gras, etc.). For the main course, we had wild duck with brussel sprouts and bacon. The wine list here is fantastic, and they have a lot of half-bottles on the menu, so don't be afraid to mix and match so that you get to try a few different wines. At the end, they bring you a nice big plate of candied orange peel and little cookies. Gluten-free notes: Most things here are naturally gluten-free. Ask about sauces. You can eat the candied orange peel!

Yelp
We liked this place so much we actually came twice for dinner, especially since it was within walking distance of our hotel. The space is small and intimate, and the servers are very unpretentious. Like most places, they offer the 3 course option. Starters we had included garlicky escargot and rich foie gras with a perfectly pickled purple cabbage that was slightly tart and complemented it well. For those who don't eat meat, there's a spinach cannelloni that's not overly creamy, paired with grilled salmon. My favorite was the pork chop, cooked perfectly on the bone. Everything was served with seasonal vegetables, which happened to be asparagus at the time. The dessert was the highlight, as they served the most amazing souffle - perfectly puffed, light, not overly rich. For those who want something lighter, there was also a fruit plate with sorbet, which had lots of sweet berries and a raspberry coulis. For the prices, portions, and selection, Au petit Marguery is a really good value. They serve classic dishes at a reasonable price, and the staff is very warm and welcoming. Be warned - they're not open on Sunday and Monday nights!

Yelp
First meal in Paris this trip and it did not disappoint. Met up with a friend I had not seen in 25 years and this was a great spot as the tables provided some privacy, we were not elbow to elbow which is norm, and the crowd was an older dinner crowd so not wild and crazy going on. Wild and crazy is going to be in a few nights ;) This is traditional French, from the food to the ambience to the wait staff. Classic. Everything was delicious, I started with the lobster salad and holy lobster, I had about half a lobster on my plate w a sizeable salad, fresh as can be. My friend had the frogs legs in parsley and garlic and if it hadnt been our 25 year reunion I would have snatched it from him and fingers and all munched down on those scrumptiously garlicky legs. For my main I had the duck which was exactly as you would expect duck in Paris to be except for the massice amount of buttery buttery lavish mashed potatoes. I was at first thunderstruck by the amount till I tasted my first bite and soon enough my pound of mashed potatoes was gone, licked up with the delectable cherry sauce that accompanied my duck. Other dishes on the table were the swordfish, which vanished in minutes and a whole lobster with a creamy sauce and a platter of frsh steamed greens. My dessert was a profiterile, which may seem chintzy, a profiterole, till I tell you it was the size of a baseball, filled with creamy ice cream and what seemed like a carafe of dark dark hot chocolate to pour onto it. My gosh, I was full and more than happy. This was with a 50 euro bottle of bordeaux from St Emillion to wash everything down with. My friend had the Grand Marnier souffle which was the most perfect souffle I have ever seen. HUge rise, perfectly browned and light as clouds inside. It seems this is the dessert to have as every other diner had one of these on their table. Would I return, yes yes. If you want a quiet dinner and ability to talk this is great. Fixed rate of 30 or 35 euros depending on 2 or 3 courses. Ample wine list. Already craving those little froggies. ribbit ribbit.

Yelp
This was one of the finest meals we had in Paris. Every dish was a work of art. I started with the smoked duck breast salad with shaved foie gras. Holy cow! It was great. I didn't know how the dinner could get better but they found a way. My entree was the wild boar stew with a poached pear and celeriac puree. It was outstanding! This place is very traditional. You won't walk away hungry because the cuisine is meat intensive and quite substantial. It might be good to go here with a designated vegan so everyone else can get a "meat hangover". Highly recommended! Wonderful!

Yelp
Why not 5 stars? Simply because it isn't that lively. Yes, it is friendly, yes it is delicious and YES the prices are fantastic...but it doesn't have that magic that some of the livelier, more crowded places have. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for dinner when you want to be able to talk without yelling. I had venison with a couple glasses of a Margaux and it was delicious. For dessert....absolutely positively get their souffle!

Yelp
i saw a french film, Au Petit Marguery, back in the '90s that was partly shot here. although a fictional story of a restaurant's last supper for friends before closing it's doors, the tale was based loosely on this eatery that had a reputation for classic cuisine, especially game, which in France can come from the wild unlike in the US (farmed). went for my first dinner here december 2000 and a few more winters since. have had my fill here of poule faisan and perdreau rôti (roast pheasant and partridge), biche (roe deer) and the mythical lièvre (hare) à la royal du Senator Couteaux - read about this here: http://www.theoldfoodie.com/2006/11/livre-la-royale.html the ambiance is definitely old world (middle ages!), the garcons 'mature', the dishes tasting of saison et terroir. if you want traditional...this is it.

Yelp
i had such a wonderful experience and found the perfect mix of what i was looking for. It was lovely traditional French dinner and was extremely reasonable. It was adorable and the service was wonderful. My favorite part of the meal was the Gran Marnier Soufflee, you want to save room for it. We were the only tourists in the place and they didn't give us too hard of a time about our terrible French. I would highly recommend it for a nice traditional meal night out in Paris!

Yelp
We had a really great lunch here on Thanksgiving, no turkey but their menu has a lot of gamey options (wild boar, hare, partridge) that were intriguing. I had the wild boar stew and it was pretty great. Someone at our table ordered sweet breads as their main course; I tried some and was very impressed with the taste and texture (relative to others that I've had in the past). The best part is that ordering dessert here is simple. You get the Grand Marnier souffle!

Yelp
exceptional meal. specialities in meats and game. excellent salade magret de canard and then a stunning slow cooked lamb shoulder. casual place with stellar traditional food.

Yelp
My wife and I ate here for our Christmas dinner and we were impressed. we had the three course meal including the scallops, fish, and gran Marnier souflet. These people mastered the art of the grab Marnier souflet. If you order one, you won't 'be disappointed.

Yelp
I was staying in the area, and had a very enjoyable dinner here. I had the breast of duck with the grand marnier souffle. Very good service, great restaurant.
