The service has greatly deteriorated since we first came here for the first time years ago. Service is understaffed and unfriendly. Whereas before you had a family and pet friendly place and experience, it is now staffed by disgruntled and rude employees. As a hotel I would not recommend it, as it’s adjacent to the train tracks which are not great for a good night’s sleep. It has a great secluded location but it’s a rundown business.

We did not stay here but had dinner here last week. The building and grounds are beautiful. The food was divine. Truly rates at the top of my list. The dining room is not fancy--sort of a homey feel. Our server was fantastic. The place was packed and she handled every table efficiently and with a great personality. We had a mussel soup starter and shared a most delicious salad. It was full of seasonal vegies sliced super thin. I had a vegetarian pastry and my daughter had the Cornish hen which was also with a pastry and with amazing homemade chips. Both meals were served with seasonal vegetables. I will let the pictures speak for themselves but I highly recommend you book a table here!

Friendly staff and great ambiance. Stayed in room on 3rd floor. Cozy and comfortable. The trains do run close by and you get delightful smells from the kitchen. Probably the rooms on the other side of the house don’t notice the train as much. We didn’t mind much though and we even kept the room window open all day and night (it was summer - early August). Toilet and shower are shared with the other rooms on the floor, at least for our room. There is a sink inside the room for brushing your teeth and washing your hands. I know that at least the room with the tub that rolls outside has a tub inside. So if you are picky you may want to inquire about staying in a room away from the tracks and with full bathroom. The room could use a large full body mirror. Other than that, it was lovely with pretty wallpaper and comfortable bed. The gardens are amazing with multiple spots to relax, read, meet or even make some work calls. Wifi worked great and stable. Food is nice with vegetarian options available. In short, we loved it, would return and recommend it. Just be mindful that the train tracks run nearby (I’d say a train runs every half hour or hour during daytime and up until like 10 or 11pm) and that toilet and shower might be shared. But it’s a great place just a few minutes from Fribourg’s Old Town.

Only the beautiful garden is already worth the visit. Haven't had the chance yet to taste the food or experience the Sunday brunch. The only downside is the lack of public transport close by.

One of the iconic places in Fribourg. Absolutely outstanding garden and views. As for restaurant, worth to notice the vast seating options, professional service, kitchen is great and tasty, but menu is relatively limited (which is not unusual for high-end restaurants). Hotel side of Auberge is famous for its mechanic bath on a balcony, but everything is old and trains passing by in 50m also add some "ambiance". And last, but not the least - prices. Yes, that's an upscale place, but there shall be some limit for the greed. When a dinner easily costs 80+ CHF per person, absence of free tap water jar - that smells really bad...

Went for a Sunday brunch. It was copious with 3 parts: breakfast (pastries, pancakes, fruit, bread, muesli, ...), then mains (salmon, chicken, shrimps, fois gras, risotto, potatoes, salad, ...), and finally desserts (cakes, macarons, fruit, ...). Most was tasty, worth the price (59.-). A bit disappointed by the desserts though. Beautiful interior and garden, I encourage you to for a stroll and look around.

We received a 400chf coupon in 2016 (written validity of 5 years, but by Swiss law all hotel/gastro coupons have a 10 year validity) as a wedding gift. We tried to go in 2020 but the hotel was closed due to COVID reasons. Therefore, we contacted the manager to see if we could have a extension of the validity for some more months. We explained the situation and that they were closed when we attempted to go. However, the staff and manager were not friendly at all. They told us the property had been passed to new owners and therefore they couldn't do anything.||This is neither fair nor legal because despite the new owners, the place still has the same name and we were never given any chance to come...! They don't assume as well the period they were closed and never tried to find a compromise or to help us. They just "washed their hands" and told us to go find the old owner.

Yelp
The restaurant is attached to the hotel. Six of us came here with a pre ordered four course menu. The staff was very friendly and they spoke English. The meal was superb! The amuse bouche was bone marrow with mushrooms. The salad was colorful with an amazing mustard vinaigrette The beef was atop peas and pearl inions with the most amazing sauce. The chocolate dessert was simply the best !! Merci Beaucoup pour un repas incroyable!
