My husband and I have dined here several times over many years, but this was our first time staying at the Auberge. What a completely delightful experience! Our room, Le Francois, was both spacious and cozy with thoughtful layout and comfortable furniture and plenty of amenities. Everything functioned well, from hot water to WiFi. (We didn't turn on the large TV.) The common room outside the room was handy for refreezing our cooler ice packs and having a table for a round of Bananagrams. Great terrace access too! We were pleasantly surprised how quiet our room was overnight even with a wedding reception downstairs and a travel group staying concurrently. All staff members were truly warm and ensured that our every need was fulfilled, whether they were fluent in English or patiently worked with our rusty, limited French. Language was never a problem. The hospitality, comfort and cuisine were universally sublime. We enjoyed the generous included breakfasts, two excellent dinners and a festive Sunday brunch. | We chose to stay at Auberge Baker because we wanted a base near the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area and knew we could count on them to keep us well fed. Now we know we are assured of ideal lodging too. A la prochaine!

If you find yourself travelling between Quebec City and Mont Sainte-Anne, make sure to stop at this hidden restaurant quietly near the St. Lawrence River. The restaurant boasts a charming French country house style that immediately captures your attention. The interior is rustic and cozy, making you feel right at home the moment you step in. This warm atmosphere is further enhanced by the incredibly friendly staff, who go out of their way to ensure you have a memorable experience. The food here is nothing short of fantastic. Each dish is of exceptionally high quality, both in taste and presentation, reminiscent of fine French cuisine. We were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of our meal. The prices reflect the quality of the food and the ambiance, but it is worth every penny—we would gladly pay it again. Overall, we were extremely satisfied and can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience!

This is a cozy inn located just outside of Quebec city. We stayed one night passing through to Ontario. It is a great location for visiting the area if you don't want to stay in the city. The staff are welcoming, and friendly, the surrounding property is beautiful. We booked a room above the restaurant but there was a water leak so we were given the loft which is in a separate building next to the restaurant. The loft is large with a balcony, very clean and the bed was comfortable. We were most impressed by the staff, the restaurant (fantastic meals), the location and the historical nature of the property. We will stay here again in the future. The restaurant is not to be missed, our dinner was exceptional and the included breakfast was fresh, lots of choices including delicious crepes with maple syrup.

I came across this gem after exploring Grands-Jardins National Park, and it turned out to be a delightful find. The food was outstanding, featuring in-season vegetables and regional specialties that truly highlighted the local flavors. Our waiter was exceptionally hospitable, sharing interesting insights about the area. The atmosphere was cozy yet refined, with a candlelit dinner setting that added to the upscale rustic charm. The burrata appetizer, pea soup, and salmon were all delicious.

Very charming and authentic hotel with the most helpful and nice staff. The lady waited for me to arrive for 2hrs until 11:30pm and the breakfast the next morning was wonderful. It felt like a full-English breakfast but with much more flavor. The lady on the breakfast was constantly offering fresh coffee and she made fresh crepes for me and my husband. The place is super cute with flowers everywhere with a country-feel. If you want a quiet, relaxing and wonderful stay, stay here! I would definitively come back on my next trip.

Google
Wonderfully rustic and friendly auberge. Our fourth time to stay there!! The restaurant is outstanding plus if staying there several days the access to Québec and surrounding area. As the building is a home which was built some 180 years ago, don't expect anything new. It's a chance to be absorbed by the colorful history of the auberge and the area.

Charming little country inn with a chalet vibe. Very cozy rooms, and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. We would definitely consider staying here again. The restaurant is definitely a must-try. Great ambience, and exquisite food. The Arctic char appetizer was outstanding.

This is relatively old farm, with main building built in the middle of 19th century. Rooms are above the restaurant and every one of them is spectacular. The Baker room is only slightly more expensive, but it is worth every penny.||||All the staff, and Madame Lin in particular, are extremely nice. I initially booked the Studio, which is in the separate building from the auberge (just next to it) but did not realize it had very steep stairs to climb. Although this was shown on pictures (on their web site) I was under impression that despite my mobility issues (I am currently using crutches) I would be able to climb them (as I do at home). However, once we arrived, we realized this might hamper my stay at the auberge so we asked if we could settle in a more easily accessible room. I do not want to detail on all the things Madame Lin had to do (talk to other guests) in order to rearrange our stay at this beautiful farm, especially in the middle of the tourist season. All I can say is that we are so thankful to Madame Lin and all the staff for pulling up for us to make our stay ever so memorable.||||We came with the idea to visit Quebec City (20 minutes-drive), Ile d'Orleans (20-25 minutes), and canyon St-Anne (15 minutes) and Bay-St-Paul (45 minutes). The Ski Mont St-Anne is only 15 minutes-drive from the auberge so this must be an excellent location during the skiing season as well||||Only 8 minutes-drive from the auberge, you will find a magnificent St-Anne de Beaupre basilica. In addition to paintings, stained glass windows, stone and wooden sculptures that can be found in most Roman Catholic churches throughout the world, St-Anne de Beaupre has also breathtaking mosaics.||||Restaurant is placed in an old setting, with traditional Quebec and ancient French cuisine, which we highly recommend. Surroundings of the auberge are also spectacular. In addition to variety of trees and flowers, it is full of birds and several quite old and beautiful willow trees. Across the road, you can take a short trail uphill where you can find a picturesque view towards Ile d’Orleans and St-Laurent River.

Yelp
A small place in with curious history. This inn had an all you can eat buffet with homemade food and catered to English speaking tourists back in the day. The owner, at some point in time, had a pet bear he owned and lived on premise with his large family. The history of the inn and pictures of the bear are still on the wall and in the atmosphere. Today, it's an intimate restaurant with good food and good service as well as a charming inn. We have been going there for the last few years and neither the food nor the service disappoints. I will have to say that prices are on the higher end, but so is the food. It's not easy to find good food in the area that doesn't classify as ´fast food'. Also most of the food in the area is poutine, pizza, burgers and chicken. It's nice to experience more unique options and the tasting menu is a must try. Some evening like Christmas and new year require reservations. Good lunch or dinner place. We never stayed in the inn but it looks charming as well. Ski mountain and st Anne Cathedral aren't far away. They are also famous for their Sunday brunch. That requires reservations as well. I know it's a thing but I have never tried it.

Yelp
This was truly a five-star experience at a very romantic, candle lit French restaurant. We made reservations and suggest that you do the same. We arrived and were greeted by the waitress who seated us. She was bilingual and spoke English perfectly. We ordered a bottle of Bordeaux wine and relaxed at our table next to the exposed 1840 stone wall. Americans will find the service to be slow, but it is "French style" service where you relax and enjoy the experience. You get the same experience dining in Paris. My wife ordered the filet de morue from the menu. It came with potatoes, fiddleheads, and chorizo. I had the filet de porc that came with sweet potatoes. For desert, we split a piece of cake with buckthorn berries. Everything tasted excellent and each was a work of art. This was a memorable experience. We plan to return the next time we come to the Quebec City area.

Yelp
It's like going to a small chateau in the French countryside without crossing the Pond...exquisite, romantic, quaint, charming and delicious. Parle vous Francais?

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. What they do well, they do really really well; on the other hand, there were a few significant flaws that prevented us from enjoying our meal as much as I'd like. To start off, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It's located in a lovely inn, ambience was very cozy; the art, the music, everything combined to form a really wonderful atmosphere. The owner came by to personally check in on us several times and was really friendly. I absolutely loved the pork belly I ordered, which although slightly on the smaller side, was the perfect size for me. Pork was cooked so well and the accompanying Brussels sprouts were delicious. Meat pie was hearty and comforting, and the quail was really good as well. For dessert, the pound cake wasn't anything special but the amaretto crème brûlée was yummy and it was cool how they lit it on fire and came with a marshmallow to roast. Now onto the flaws. Found a hair in our salad, which although off putting wasn't too big a deal; waitress was apologetic when we pointed it out and had it replaced. Food takes pretty long to arrive. Main issue was with the lobster/ravioli dish, which was TINY and definitely not worth the price. It was the size of an appetizer, and not a large appetizer at that. One of the waitresses was pretty impatient as well and very abrupt with her answers. Overall: the best restaurant in the St. Anne-Beaupre area (which is sadly lacking in decent food options), but with a few quality control issues that make me hesitant to fully recommend it. If you do decide to go, be prepared for a wait and don't order the lobster.

Yelp
The soup is too hot I burned my tongue and I can't feel it anymore, someone then proceeded to stick their fat greasy finger in the water.

Yelp
This was a wonderful find. Food was exceptional and service outstanding. Hubby had the meat pie and I had flank steak. Food was perfectly prepared, seasoned and plated. Baby vegetables were superb. Great wine, too! Dessert was crème brûlée with orange sorbet and chocolate lava cake with ice cream. After dinner, Simon our server treated us with a personalized tour of several rooms with historical photos. Enjoyed every moment of this jewel. Simon was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Love love love this precious gem!!! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Nothing remotely negative to say. Service was impeccable, ambience was mellow, food was spectacular! We did the full 5-course dinner from amuse-bouche to dessert. Amuse was a taste of salmon and a taste of pastrami. Excellent. Known for their yellow pea soup - tasty. Venison carpaccio was unique. Baked cheese 'tart' with honey was also wonderful. Granita to cleanse. Main courses of pork tenderloin and cavatelli with mushroom cream sauce were spot on. A small glass of port followed by desserts! Trio of sorbets, buckthorn cake and pistachio crème brûlée. I'm getting hungry just typing this! No rushing patrons. Maggie and Maud were splendid servers!

Yelp
Delicious! We were staying in town and didn't want to travel into the city for dinner but wanted a nice meal. We hit the jackpot and we're not expecting to find much of anything on a Sunday evening. Beautiful restaurant in an old stone inn and we'll look into staying here on our next visit! I had the duck confit (delicious) and my partner had the beef shoulder (also very delicious). Our only regret is not getting the meat pie, which we could smell from the table next to us (they're known for traditional French Canadian meals). My favorite part of the meal was the dessert (and I love sweets). The server lit the top of the creme brûlée on fire and it was served with a homemade marshmallow to toast and enjoy on a delicious cookie! Perfect ending to a great meal! I will definitely send my foodie friends here for a detour, if they're staying in the city!

Yelp
This is a classic case of a good restaurant not being able to handle the large volume of a special occasion. The four of us came for the Valentine Day menu. We chose this restaurant based on the excellent Yelp rating. I guess many did the same. The restaurant created a romantic menu that was exquisite yet could be made in batch. They had to have made a lot per the volume of table reservations. The food tasted not only pre-made but way overcooked. All of them, saved the dessert. This was because the dessert was a variety of fruits and cakes in melted dark chocolate. Yes, I must concur that the plating was beautiful, and so the pictures. Eating the food? Not as enjoyable as it looked. The services was great. I loved the live violin. I hope my experience was an one-off unfortunate incidence.

Yelp
Stayed a night here and I should say it was very authentic and a wonderful experience. Must visit! The staff are very welcoming and the way they maintained centuries old architecture and furnitures is mind blowing. They have limited rooms so plan ahead.

Yelp

Yelp
Came by for lunch on a Thursday without rezzies and were warmly greeted and seated. I was not feeling well so I only ordered an apple juice. However, when my husband's Duo came out, I had to have a nibble of everything! They were not kidding when they say it feels like receiving a well plated meal at Gramma's house! The meatball made me feel better. The meat pie was delish with the chutney. Even the steamed vegies were comforting. Highly recco!

Yelp
I cannot rate the B&B but the restaurant is totally overpriced for the location and the quality of food they serve. We liked beef tartar and escargot appetizers, but my husband's steak was seriously overcooked and chewy and my salmon was dry and tasteless. Nice decorations though, adding one star for the interior and setting of the place.

Yelp
Alone on return from St Anne, wanted an appropriate meal to preserve the reverent state of mind. Fabulous meal, perfect farmhouse setting, unbelievable service.

Yelp
This was our third visit to Auberge Baker and our first in over six years. The restaurant never disappoints and, honestly, is as good as it gets. It is just as we remembered with fabulous food, exquisitely prepared, in the setting of a romantic inn. We made reservations for a mid-week evening dinner meal for four. We were seated promptly. Our server, noticing we spoke English, was very polite and handled our order quickly. We had venison, certified local, and the filet (rare) was one of the best I have ever had; juicy, red and warm. The chocolate/hazelnut dessert is wonderful. The service is not super fast, but is typical and expected for well prepared food in a European style restaurant. We love this restaurant and can't wait for our next visit to the area to return.

Yelp
Holy cow. We came here on a tour of Quebec today. Delicious is an insult for the food here. Enjoyed the salmon with a berry mousse and wonderful broccoli soup (which is saying something considering how I despise broccoli). The staff were efficient with lout making you feel rushed. We would definitely return should be come back to Quebec!

Yelp
We were happy this restaurant was open, since others were not. My husband's duck confit poutine was quite tasty! I had the duck ravioli, and although an adequate portion, just not very good. It was supposed to be in an alfredo sauce but it seemed like a white sauce to me, where was the cheese? Served with the smallest house salad I've seen in a while. Very disappointing at $20! The wait staff was very friendly and the food did not take a long time. We saw some bread on a sideboard but were never offered some, would have been nice! There seemed to be a lot of clutter around the dining room left over from lunch?

Ron H.

Yelp
We were ignored for 30 minutes before I needed to call a waitress over to take our drink order. I guess the fact that we spoke English moved us to the bottom of the list. We finally stood up and left. If I could give it no stars I would. If you speak English, beware.

Yelp
We were the only ones there the night we went so all of the staff were attentive to us. The food is amazing. This is authentic French cuisine right here. You won't regret splurging your money here to treat your family to wonderful and tasty food.

Yelp
We drove out here for Christmas Eve dinner during a family trip to Quebec City. Fabulous food. We ordered the lamb shank with garlic mashed potatoes and the Turkey dinner. Our dinners were perfectly cooked - tender lamb falling right off the bone. Very nice portions for reasonable prices which made it affordable to bring our family. The inn is beautiful and charming for Christmas. Very friendly staff who spoke both English and French. We highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a lovely place to spend Christmas Eve.

Yelp
I've been here twice. Loved it both times. If you want some authentic French dishes plus the best sugar pie you've eaten, give Bakers a try.

Yelp
We stayed at the inn. Our room (chalet) was small and cozy. Breakfast was included. We had dinner once. Nice dining room. Since we stayed at the inn, we had the the option of prix fixe for $45. Presentation was good, food was good. We would. To consider it delicate food. Highly recommend the sesame-ginger cake dessert. Unique and delicious.

Yelp
What a disappointment! Our party, all exclusively English speaking, were looking forward to this highly rated and atmospheric venue. The first clue should have been when the receptionist hung up on us while attempting to make a reservation. When we arrived, the unsmiling hostess seated us directly opposite the kitchen door, and we actually had to request a candle like the one on the other tables. Then we waited a half hour with no server attention whatsoever, although a couple who arrived after us was promptly served wine. Finally we requested what appeared to be the manager to send over our server to take our cocktail order. She actually turned and walked away in the opposite direction! About 5 minutes later the "manager" took our drink order. 10 minutes later the drinks had not yet arrived. At that point we left the restaurant, so we cannot review the food, although the offerings were inviting. I would steer non-French speaking tourists far, far away from this establishment. They do not want your business.
