It exceeded expectations. If you want food that is full of flavour, presented with care, and cooked with heart, then this place will make you happy. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on a cloudy February afternoon. Thank you chef for making us welcome and looking after us. One of my favourite meals after 10 years in France.

Richard, the owner, opened especially for us. I called up 30 mins before and asked if they were open. He said to come. When we arrived he had laid a table for 7 of us (5 adults and 2 children) and had stoked the fire. The location is in a national park and the views are lovely. The restaurant is homely with several cats roaming around. Impressively Richard was by himself! He worked solo. He cooked 2 steaks, 1 fish, 2 duck breasts, a croque monsieur and a chicken dish. All to time. All on point. We were extremely impressed and when he told us he worked for Gordon Ramsay in the past it all began to make sense. I wouldn't say the food exceptional, but it's incredibly homely and delicious. Exactly what you want for a day out with the family (when you plan to nap later in the day!). Desserts were tasty, especially the crepes, and Richard was super with the kids, making exceptions for them offering some sweets with a smile. Ultimately it's a lovely, homely place, with very tasty food and an excellent owner/chef/server. I'm sure in high season there are more staff but now, in December, we feel indebted to Richard for opening the doors and giving us a great lunch! Recommended!

We absolutely love this auberge restaurant. The owners also live in the village and are attentive to their clients. Numerous meals have been charming, good wine selection. I usually get the plat du jour, which has been generously portioned. Homemade desserts are always tasty. Make reservations since it’s a popular spot especially weekends. Thank you!

Enjoyed a great lunch outside in the winter sunshine. Food is rustic provençale, freshly made and locally sourced. Wine is perfectly acceptable. Service, by the friendly owners, is faultless. Courmes is at the end of a no through road so a special trip is required. It is however well worth it - the climb up the valley is beautiful and the mountain scenery around Courmes is spectacular. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Brilliant food and service with an excellent atmosphere. Despite us not being able to speak French very well everyone in the town was lovely and welcoming!

Wonderful french cuisine served by a friendly couple who clearly care about the quality of their food. A really lovely experience sitting outside in the sun after a family walk, enjoying a great lunch. Thank you! 😎

Excellent spot for a full lunch, all homemade fresh from the market produce and home cooked food. The owner is particularly attentive to its customers and don’t hesitate to call ahead if you have particular diet (incl vegan).

Looking very attractive with its sun umbrellas on a, spacious terrace in the hot sunshine, in the middle of the village and conveniently placed for a drink after an energetic walk. It is family run. We arrived quite late (just before 2.30) after a hike and knew they stopped serving lunch at 2.30. We were not made to feel particularly welcome but were served drinks and then food. We had the feeling of being a nuisance, as the owner was clearly very hot and tired. I'm afraid the best I can say about the food was that it was edible. A mixed salad relied heavily on tinned sweet corn, mixed in with partly 'off' tomato pieces and cucumber, also served with packet grated carrot and taboulet and other things, all rather generously covered with some sort of shop bought (unpleasant) dressing. The dish of the day (emince de poulet) was stewed bits of chicken in an unidentifiable sauce served with rice and stewed vegetables. Maybe things would have been better if we'd been earlier... For a drink, it's fine!
