Auberge de Jeunesse de Mons - Youth Hostel

A great Gemini of a place. Very clean and within walking distance of the main square, railway station and lots more. The shower in our room is exceptional. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful even to us oldies 😉

A hostel which provided a couple of motorcyclists on tour with the basics required. A bed, a shower, a toilet and breakfast. As the weather was so hot the need for air-conditioning or a fan was extras much needed but otherwise no complaints.

We booked this last minute after a change of plan. Even though parking is not available our treasured classic mini was accommodated in the underground car park. So they went above and beyond here. It is a hostel, but it’s really great and would thoroughly recommend. We’ve had a great stay.

Got put in a room with a drug addict. It appears there is more than one. This place is a sanctuary for drug addict. I did complain about the person stoned out of his mind. I wasn’t believed but I was put in another room. Needless to say that this event was scary and depressing. Sadly, I still have 4 more nights to endure. Can’t wait to leave.

Great youth hostel in Mons. The staff were very kind and helped when a colleague fell ill. The kitchen had simple food, but they offered solid and fresh gluten free and vegan options for breakfast and lunches. The rooms are very compact, but functional. The only issue is the bad smell in the hallway and coming from the sinks and drains. The hostel is close to the train station and city centre. The meeting room doesn't have much natural light, but there's a nice court yard and plenty of space to work from in the foyer and cafeteria.

We stayed 3 nights. The check in is very quick and efficient. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. They have a limited amount of underground secure parking spots. Their WiFi is secure but works best in the lobby area. Breakfast was beyond my expectations. A nice selection and a spacious, comfortable dining area. This a great location, easy walking distance to every attraction.

My husband and I stayed overnight here with our two children (7&3) on our way to Strasbourg. I found the reception staff very helpful (via email) from the moment I booked. We were late arriving in Mons, so had to use the out of hours access. I emailed the hostel whilst we were stuck in traffic on the m25, and they sent all the details, including photos, to ensure we could access our room. We had a family room booked, which was basic but clean. Two sets of bunk beds, shower and toilets. All perfectly adequate and comfortable. Showers were good and hot - take towels with you though!! Breakfast was basic, but nice. Staff pointed us in the direction of where we could find some waffles in the town, so we took a short walk, ate waffles, then went on our way. Mons seems a lovely place, and this is cheap and cheerful accommodation!
