Auberge de la Belle Époque

Stopped here for an overnight. The room was clean and quiet. we wouldn't stay here again, though. While the property is very attractive -- old building, etc -- we found the vibe to be very institutional ... even a bit impersonal. It's more like staying in a hotel, and we have become used to a more personal experience at B&Bs where the owners (usually with no other 'workers') engage with us. With expansion construction under way, I can't see any of this changing. As to food, again, an uninspired breakfast buffet laid out for you to serve yourself ... and (BTW) bus your table when you're done! Friends had stayed here years ago and raved, so we were very disappointed when we finally had the occasion to try it. No real major complaints, but if you routinely stay at B&Bs, and if you really enjoy that type of experience, you're going to find this place different, and ... 'less' in a way.

Such a charming Victorian era B&B! The staff take pride in maintaining this property to a high standard of cleanliness. The rooms also reflect the care that is taken by the owners/employees. There is also a rooftop terrace to provide a quiet escape. Breakfast was refreshing and the best croissant I experienced in my Quebec travels!!

We were so glad to be able to return to La Belle Epoque, after many years. The room was gorgeous and quiet, the bed super comfortable, the whole place very clean and bright, breakfast superb especially the delicious pate (Bretonne?) and generous servings of fresh fruit. The hosts are kind and very helpful and the building is wonderful architecturally, especially the beautifully executed metal roof (with diamond shape tiles...fish scale?). Absolutely gorgeous, a wonderful holiday experience and very good value. Thank you, merci!

Simply a fantastic experience! Very good price, attentive hosts, great breakfast, ancestral house with a lot of "cachet"! I highly recommend to adults/couples (not so much for children). No elevators, so if you have difficulties with stairs ask for a ground-level room.

It was a wonderful stay. Beautifully decorated rooms and at breakfast a visual experience in that big beautiful storefront room. Breakfast was excelllent. Simple but with good cheeses, slices of ham and croissants so rich and buttery. Some great restaurants in the neighborhood.

Any room would be wonderful. We had the chance to view many of them. They are as shown on the auberge's website. The building is beautifully restored. It was the perfect choice for us in Saint Jean Port Joli. It was walking distance to anything in town. The breakfast was modest, but more than adequate for us. We would definitely return if driving that way again.

We had an excellent stay at La Belle Époque. We arrived a little early but the host, Eve, was very accommodating and friendly, despite obviously being quite busy getting ready. She let us drop our things in the room, a big help. The room was lovely and we had locked bicycle storage, which we appreciated. The breakfast was large, varied and fabulous! It included wonderful croissants and other pastries, excellent fresh fruit and local specialties such as créton. Eve was super nice and friendly, providing helpful, local information. She helped to make the stay a memorable experience.

This place is fantastic. Everything is very high end, but simple. The building is beautiful and every detail has been noticed. There is a nice rooftop area, and the breakfast is substantial. Also, a great value as they discount the price for single travelers. If you are coming to this town, you should stay here.
