Great location, but not worth the price – would not stay again.
If you're looking to stay near Old Quebec, the location of this hostel is definitely convenient. However, if you're willing to walk a bit, you might be better off staying in downtown and visiting Old Quebec during the day.
Unfortunately, almost everything else about our stay was disappointing. My partner and I stayed in a private room for two nights, and I can confidently say I wouldn’t return.
The noise was constant and exhausting. I usually fall asleep easily, but here I woke up multiple times during the night. You can hear everything—people talking in the hallways and neighboring rooms, phones dropping, doors slamming, even drunk guests yelling and singing outside until early morning. The building seems poorly insulated, so noise travels everywhere, even into private rooms.
The room was tiny. With one double bed and a medium-sized suitcase opened, there was barely any floor space left to move around. The mattress was very uncomfortable and squeaked loudly every time I changed position. There wasn’t even a mirror in the room, which was surprising.
We saw staff cleaning the bathrooms, and they seemed to be doing their job. However, the facilities are old and visibly worn down. Some of the built-up grime and permanent stains made the space feel dirty, even if it was technically cleaned. It’s clear that the place is in serious need of renovation.
Most staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in/check-out was quick and easy. They do post signs asking guests to keep quiet during late hours, but unfortunately, the structure of the building makes this ineffective. The walls are thin, and the noise made it hard to relax or feel any real privacy.
Considering what we paid for two nights in a private room for two people, it simply wasn’t worth it. A good night’s sleep is the bare minimum you hope for when traveling—and here, we didn’t get that.
