Arrived here late afternoon on a gloomy day. It's a pretty large resort with several buildings located close to or on the hill overlooking the mighty St Lawrence River.
We were quickly checked in and went to our room, which in this case was directly on the hill with a full and uninterrupted view. Even in the grey weather we could see across the huge breadth of the river, 1.5 miles wide here!!! Magnifique!
We had brought some cheese, bread and pate with us, and some wine, so we did not feel like eating in the restaurant. We had food, wine and a room with a view. Romantique!
The beds were incredibly comfortable and after reading and browsing online, we soon fell asleep, with the window open to the cool river air. The next morning, eager to get going, we decided to skip the hotel buffet, reasonably priced. In retrospect, we should have tried it, as it looked quite good and was in a nice room. But we had breakfast down the road instead.
News item: Apparently they have whale watching tours from here, as these creatures swim in the 170 miles upstream from the ocean. All kinds, from blue whales too a herd of belugas. Who knew? https://www.quebecmaritime.ca/en/blog/riviere-du-loup-a-little-known-whale-watching-area
